Has anyone experience with happynewcar.co.uk

Featured Replies

I'm about to place an order for a Yeti. Best price I've been quoted was from happynewcar.co.uk Before I go ahead and place my order, I thought I would ask you good people if anyone has dealt with them and, if so, how it was for you...so to speak.

I also wanted to say thanks to you all for the great information on this forum. It has helped me no end in coming to a decision about what to purchase.

Best wishes

Denis Jackson,

Chepstow.

Not a name I've heard before.

Do you get the V5 within the 2 weeks of buying the car, or do they show as the first owner?

new one on me as well

Sound and sensible question Mr. L. I shall enquire.

Ta muchly.

OMG ... and I thought I had got a good deal :(

At the prices they show I wouldn't care if I was second registered keeper.

Their prices are very good...but...I always check gift horses very carefuly. I'm almost old enough to remember what happened at Troy :)

Perhaps it was me? Looked again and the price for the car is now £3000 more than when I first looked. New glasses possibly needed :(

However, now I feel a lot better about my own deal; but, of course, I still do not have the car.

Quite a few vehicles are sold "in this way" - but it is not really for the "faint hearted" - especially if you have to wait a while or unless you know the "sellers" involved - but you can save money

with companies like these always consider the following:

1). If they are a limited company can you do a search and are they up to date with filing their Returns etc.,

2). If they are a Limited Company and they go bust the Directors are protected by "limited liability" and if they have no funds and they go bust any money that you have paid as deposit or (final payment) will be lost.

3). If the organisation is a sole trader or partnership - and 2) happens - you will also not be in a good position.

4). By careful if they ask for a deposit greater than £500 and ALWAYS pay this by Credit Card - at least you will then have some protection and if they have a credit card facility it is positive as the Banks at least do some basic checks.

5). Ask about ownership so that you know the position - are they buying the vehicle in the name of a "company" (a fleet purchase or rental company)

6). Ask if you will be the 2nd owner, (nothing wrong with that as long as the deal is "kosher") - and if so when will you get the V5C.

7). Your insurance company may not like the fact that the V5C is not in your name when you insure the car - up to you if you discuss it with them - but "technically speaking" it is not "really legal" for you to insure a car that you do not own, (unless you are buying it on HP or some sort of finance agreement) - some insure cos take a dim view and say, no! - others are more relaxed and some are just not told.

8). Make sure that you know the "country of origin" of the vehicle - is it a UK spec car and will it be supplied through a UK Skoda dealership.

9). HPI the vehicle just before collection - Check to make sure that it has not been written off, that there is no outstanding finance on the vehicle and that the "seller" owns the vehicle, (ask to see the invoice from the supplying dealer), - also remember that the V5C is not proof of ownership - (i.e. it could be owned by a finance company).

10). Ask if you can talk to others who have bought vehicles from them

There are a few other factors that will come to mind as I think about it, BUT

MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT PAY FOR THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN IT, INSPECTED IT AND CHECKED THE VIN AND THE OTHER USUAL FACTS, (Tax disk, Handbook, etc.)

Still £1500 more than I paid for my 170 with metallic paint from Autofinders.

It's quite a slick website but a bit strange that the only Skoda available is the Yeti. Could this be something to do with the current VAT 'free' offer on most of the rest of the range bought via usual channels.

I'd still be very cautious about using such agencies but that's just me worrying about losing chunks of money.

If I were to use such a setup, I'd definitely pay everything by credit card even if they apparently charge 2.5% for such transactions.

I paid Autofinders a £500 deposit using my credit card. I paid nothing else until the car was delivered and I had inspected it and had the keys and documentation in my hands. Other people have successfully used other internet based agencies. Most of them use one of the Skoda dealer network to supply the cars. It was no more risky than using a bricks and mortar dealer.

Slick web sites prove absolutely nothing.

Quite! How do you think I made my ill-gotten gains?

Yes they are extremely cheap. They must be doing something with holding the logbook or maybe not if they are really desperate. But why would any UK dealer be ultra desperate to sell Yetis? I wonder who is supplying them.

Mine came via Autofinders from Telfords of Carlisle.

I have ordered mine direct from Telford's Carlisle and they certainly haven't offered me anything off - stuck to book prices all round :(

I ordered a Yeti 2.0 TDI CR 170 Elegance with Floor Mats, Spare Wheel, Tyre Pressure Monitor, Annapurna Alloys in Candy White on the 5th November 2010. Total cost £18855.29 inc delivery to my home address. I paid a £500 deposit on a credit card which gives you Section 75 cover for the full purchase price. You should also be aware that a V5 has emblazoned across the front that it is not proof of ownership of the vehicle, this is provided by your sales invoice. I must say that I was very surprised at the price.

The company I used was "Carquake" at the following site: http://www.carquake.co.uk/

The car is due in to the dealer on Sunday 24th April (So they say!)

Now I have my new glasses on; but I still can't see (through the tears). Less than £18900 for a 170 with any extras (albeit bar metallic paint) is b@#46y excellent. Well done. I ordered mine in February and did try carquake; but ... :envy:

In case you are still wondering whether you can trust some of the web based suppliers...I have ordered my Yeti 170 Elegance from Autofinders (same as StewartK). I can confirm all he has said about them. Pay £500 on credit card and balance on receipt/collection of car. They prefer either Bankers Draft or Debit card for the balance and can arrange finance if required. I ordered my Yeti on 20th December and have been told it was scheduled to be built in week 9 so I am expecting to collect in the next couple of weeks (can hardly wait). My Yeti will be Black Magic Pearlescent and was ordered with spare wheel, carpet mats and Lifeshine. Total cost £20,515. I was also 'concerned' about web-providers but got my Octavia VRS 170 Estate from Autofinders in October 1997 so I can only speak well of them.

I think you might need a refund on your new specs. The webpage I am looking at shows the price of a new 170 CRd as £21,035. Still low but more than £18,900!

Edit = ah, I see where you've got that figure from - Stanjackos. I'm the one needing new specs

I haven't ordered my Yeti yet but might try http://www.drivethedeal.com/ They are recommended by Honest John in the Telegraph and you do not pay them any money up front. They arrange for delivery from a Skoda dealer or to your door. You pay the dealer. Found a couple of people on another car forum who have used them for new cars without any problems.

We got our Yeti through DtD and had no problems at all. The only slight downside for us was travelling down to London to pick the car up, but that's geography and not the fault of DtD or the dealer.

DtD put you in touch with the dealer and they do the rest. Communication via email was good with quick responses to any queries and the handover was swift and efficient.

Would have no problems using them again and only didn't with my Octavia because I got a price close to the DtD one from a more local dealer.

Went with James at Allams this time round; very happy with the overall deal offered and the excellent level of service so far experienced :) Have used internet brokers myself in the past but didn't like the sell and forget approach offered by them and their dealers.

TP

Just their name puts me off; sound too much like webuyanycar.com for my liking.

Damn... just ordered the website easypeasycheesycars.co.uk Might be a mistake?
