Has anyone experience with happynewcar.co.uk

Damn... just ordered the website easypeasycheesycars.co.uk Might be a mistake?

Nah, you'll make millions

Just their name puts me off; sound too much like webuyanycar.com for my liking.

I wouldn't be so concerned about the name of the broker who introduced me to a Skoda dealer if I was going to pay £15,758 for a 1.2 DSG SE Yeti in Muscovado with extras, thus saving me £1986. And if you ask Johann he might say something similar given his saving was nearer three grand (not a secret, he's not afraid to advise enquirers of the great deal he got....good on him!)....he probably put up with the indignity of having to type the name once or twice in a couple of emails in order to achieve that saving.

Having said that, my own experience with 'webuyanycar.com' was less than edifying and I wouldn't rush back unless I really had to.

Also used AutoFinders for my Yeti 140 4x4 Elegance. Saved almost £3000. It was also supplied by Telfords of Carlise. Again, I was sceptical about web based deals but figured that as I only had to pay the £500 deposit I couldn't loose too much. It did take 6 months to arrive but the pick up was easy and they allowed me to look over it on my own for as long as I liked before paying the balance. The V5 with me as first keeper arrived as promised 3 weeks later. Would definitely use them again.

This really sickens me as Telfords of Carlisle, my local dealer would not offer me a penny off my Octavia L&K 1.8TSI DSG bought in March 2010 and would offer nothing off my Yeti 170 elegance currently under order from them. This is despite buying 3 new cars from them over a period of 2 years. The part exchange price they have offered for our Fabia 3 1.9TDI is also about £1000 less than that offered by "webuyanycar.com" !!!. And to rub salt into the wounds, when I suggested I might buy off the internet they warned me off the idea saying that those cars came from dodgy sources. At the very least I will be rubbing their noses in the price they have offered me for the Fabia.

I'm sort of wondering why you went ahead with the purchase if they offered such a poor deal, both on the price of the new car, and of the poor P/X. You must have done a bit of research to find out where the deals were?

I had two cars to trade in, a nearly new Octavia L&K 1.8TSI DSG, and a Fabia 3 1.9TDI 2.5 years old. A dealer some distance away (Manchester) offered me what I thought was a reasonable deal. So I tried Telfords locally who came no where near close till I told them about the Manchester offer. At that stage they came very close by upping the prices offered for my two part exchange cars. There were only two days to go at the end of December left to clinch the deal and avoid the VAT increase and the Skoda Price rise. It was all a last minute decision (to trade both these cars for a Yeti) and I just didn't have the time to shop around and consider anythwhere else. It was while arranging the purchase of the Octavia 10 months previous that the salesman dissuaded me from buying off the internet (Always regretted that) and he told me that these cars came from a dodgy source. I actually knew that was not (necessarily) true but didn't let that remark concern me at the time. But now that I know that they themselves supply cars to internet dealers I am really annoyed as I think they should give those deals to their very loyal (in my case) local customers.

I guess you've put all this to them to see how they justified their remarks to you....they must, surely, have stammered a bit when trying to explain the remarks you've outlined? Presumably, no offers ensued in the goodwill department?

No time to put anything to them yet - only just found out about them supplying internet sourced vehicles a couple of hours ago on this forum. Will keep it up my sleeve for when final price is agreed on handing over the Fabia when Yeti arrives. They have agreed a minimum price which I shall ask to be upped somewhat.

I haven't ordered my Yeti yet but might try http://www.drivethedeal.com/ They are recommended by Honest John in the Telegraph and you do not pay them any money up front. They arrange for delivery from a Skoda dealer or to your door. You pay the dealer. Found a couple of people on another car forum who have used them for new cars without any problems.

I placed my order with Carfile and found them the best price for 140 DSG Diesel model I ordered last week.

Hi Yetiflute. Believe me...there is nothing wrong with internet suppliers like Autofinders (personal experience) or DtD (experience of others). I KNOW Autofinders use the usual network of Skoda dealers to supply their cars. My Octavia estate VRS came from Claybanks (Manchester) and my Yeti will (I believe) come from a dealership in Carlisle. In an earlier post someone questioned whether the dealerships will give good sevice to cars not purchased directly from them. My personal experience is that they will (or at least the good ones will). I have never had any contact whatsoever with Claybank and all my service/maintenance has been done at my closest dealership in Hull (including some work under waranty on the DPF on my VRS). I tried to buy a Yeti demonstator from this dealership in December 2010 but they wanted c.a. £24k for a Muscovado 170 Elegance with 6k miles on it. I told them I had been offered a brand new 170 Elegance from Autofinders for c.a. £20k and would give them cash for their Yeti if they could get near to the Autofinders price....They weren't interested so I went to Autofinders. The Salesman's parting words were....if do you get your Yeti from Autofinders.......don't forget to bring it back to us for servicing.

I quite agree with you. I'm simply annoyed that Telfords (the only dealer in Carlisle) will supply you with a Yeti at a good discount via Autofinders but would not knock a penny off my Yeti - and I'm a local and a regular customer who has spent over £33,000 with them in the last 2 years prior to ordering my Yeti. Worse than that they tried (unsuccessfully) to convince me that internet dealers sourced their cars from dodgy places. Beginning to think that in their case they are correct in that assertation.

I bought my previous car (Fabia VRS SE) from Telfords as they were my nearest dealer. When I wanted to get my Yeti I went back to them to see what deal they could offer. They did not seem interested in trying to get anywhere near the prices I had been quoted on the internet and offered me a poor part ex figure on my VRS. Needless to say they did not get my business and I bought my Yeti at MSB, Darlington.

Likewise often use the Hull outfit for servicing and I must say that sounds like their approach to selling :giggle: Gave them an opportunity to do a deal on my current Yeti order but they were way off, although with my wife's Fabia early last year they were very competitive, so got the order.

Servicing with them has also become expensive, my son got a quote from both Hull and Pickering for his Fabia; he's taking it to Pickering and saving about £30-40.

Hi Chaps,

I can't thank you enough for all of the feedback and information you have all taken the time to post on here. I have today ordered a 170PS Elegance with heated screen, rough road pack and a spare wheel. I placed my order with Autofinders and am very pleased with my deal. Don't know yet where it's coming from but at least it should be with me for the winter.

I live on a small-holding at the end of a 1.5 mile long private farm track. As you might imagine, it doesn't take much snow to cause me problems and with my job (I'm a professional ornithologist / ecologist), a bit of light 4WD will be really useful on occasion. We do have a couple of landys at work if we really need to go mud plugging!

Thanks again. I'm looking forward to being part of this group as a driver/member in due course :)

Best wishes

Denis

Happy new car only seem to do Yetis in the Skoda range.

Skoda Yeti Elegance 2.0 TDI CR 170 4x4 List Price: £24,115.00 Our Price £21,035.00

It doesn't say if you are first owner or second owner (Eg; after a fleet buy).

At over £3k off list it's worth investigating.

I'd ask them for the tel numbers of some "happy" owners.

I have to confess at this point I'm not in the market for a Skoda, but a VW Transporta van! The happynewcar people also do happynewvan, so I googled for reviews and you fellas came up! Sorry to be an impostor and all! I'm sure the thread will help a Skoda buyer at some point as well as VW!

I did ring them today and they weren't sure about who'd be first registered owner and said they'd get back to me. They also said the discount was only applicable on the vehicle, not any of the extras. Also, which I found a bit daunting, they would be after all of the deposit (if getting finance, so in my case £6K) a couple of days before delivery.
