Delivery 6 months 4 Superb II estate?

Featured Replies

I been to Milton Keynes Skoda dealer i defiantly want 2 get Superb II estate 2.0 tdi Elegance DSG DPF with some extras :) but when we start taking about "delivery 6 till 8 mounts " :S I didnt expect that. what is going on?why so long? Is demand so big 4 Skodas in here.

Am on road every single day and i cant see alot off Skodas around here in UK.

Would you join the que?

I ordered my Superb Elegance Estate CR 170 DSG at the end of September and it's currently scheduled to be built at the end of this month. Skoda have suffered with the popularity of the Superb Estate, it's not just a brilliant car in it's own right, but also when compared to the likes of the VW Passat and Audi A6 Avant you get a lot more in terms of space and standard equipment... all for less money. It's an easy decision! Of course, add the fact that Skoda now benefit from build quality at least as good as the other VAG marques and you can see why demand has outstripped supply.

It's not something that Skoda can be blamed for entirely, there are rumours that VW limited the number of engines and gearboxes so that they could "win back" some of the customers that had migrated to Skoda.

I have heard that recently, things are slowly getting back to normal so hopefully delivery times will improve. Skoda had 14,000 forward orders at the start of this year, which is impressive when you think about it. Skoda UK have even started supplying loan cars to those customers who are having to wait a long time and have already sold their old car (like me).

So, should you by the Superb...? Well, it's your decision, but I think you'd regret it if you didn't ;)

As another patiently waiting for next month to come so I can collect my Superb ordered in November I agree that for the car you get for the money there is nothing to touch it, and unless you have a desperate need for a new car immediatetly and want your own spec then the wait seems to be part of the deal, although there is some hint on Briskoda that things are speeding up for UK cars.

If you arent fussy on colour, engine etc you could always check round a few dealers- for instance the new Skoda dealership in Dondee did have a black estate and rosso brunello hatch a couple of weeks ago, both unregistered and both elegance models I think

I couldn't wait for a factory order, I had to change my car last year so I opted for an ex demo CR170 Elegance estate in silver, picked it up a week after the test drive. I had to compromise on a few options I would have added to the factory order but I don't regret it one bit.

The car was 2 months old, had 2700 miles on the clock and was immaculate. I got it for over 4 grand less than the list price.

Next time round i'll order one from the factory with the options I want but I still love my Superb.

I could not be bothered to wait either, I was lucky to find a showroom car, right model, right colour but missing a few extra's too.

After spending time on here though I think the only extra I would still have is the heated screen, but a plastic sheet does the job instead.

Heated screen, auto dimming mirror, hill hold and privacy glass would have been my preferred options. I had the last 2 on my L&K and miss them on the Superb.

I've fitted an auto dimming mirror (not wired up yet) and can have tints fitted when I want. Other than that, it was the right colour, right model and crucially, it was the CR170 emoticon-0148-yes.gif with the added bonus of not waiting 6 bloody months.

It's not Uk demand that is the problem, it is global demand for Skoda cars is what I was told when I orderd my car last year. It took exactly 24 weeks and I've now had the car a week short of 4 months now and the wait was well worth it.

Orderd an Octavia and the wait on those is at least 5 months. My boss at work has been told 5 months for an Audi A6 so i told him that his car must be dead common to have such a short wait compared to a Skoda which is a bit more exclusive.

The long lead times seems to be present across the whole of the VAG Group.

I feel sorry for the dealers personally. They are faced every day with potential customers who read about all the golden revues that Skoda are attracting these days, scurrying into the showrooms, drooling over the cars, and then when they get all motivated into making a purchase they are told to wait around 6 months!! What do most of them do??, they go to the nearest Toyota/Honda/ Ford/ Vauxhall etc dealer and buy something before they cool off!!.

SUK are spending big money advertising their product, also doing this VAT free offer which if I remember correctly eats into the dealers margin considerably making the whole excercise totally frustrating for them. On top of all this I'm sure SUK gives the dealers targets and bonuses etc to meet.

Customers who fancy a new Merc, BMW or Audi and are not totally specific on spec and colour can choose from dozens of them on dealers forecourts, but for considerably more money!!

I am only just old enough to remember the days when you had to stand in line and beg to be "supplied" with a new Merc or BMW hoping that the dealer liked the look of you and "took you on".. This "shortage" helped keep up residuals for a while but I doubt that this will happen with Skoda cars.

Is the long waiting list genuinely an engine shortage?? if this is true then someone in production planning should get his jotters asap since the rise in demand for diesel engined cars has been on the go for a long time and such a good engine is recognised firstly by the manufacturers.

Again spare a thought for the frustrated dealer,, (Also be prepard for the word "dicount" to be wiped from their vocabulary!!

I agree, it's the dealers who seem to be facing the brunt of all this... and of course, other than the deposit to secure the order, they don't get any money until the car is actually delivered and sold to the customer. Credit to my dealer though (Richard at Mitchell Skoda, Chester) as he's been great... putting up with my queries, questions and general over-enthusiasm (although I've taught him a few things about the Superb too) :giggle:

My old man quickly pointed out that when he used to build mk11 Escorts and 3.0 litre Capri's... they were all built to order, every one had a customers name assigned to them!

I got quoted twelve months on a Polo GTI!!

As has been said before they are building to order and not for stock, this does also help keep the cost down. Skoda are not the only manufacturer with long lead times and with the current situation in Japan they will be hit hard soon. I waited 5 months for mine but it was well worth it!

also bought mine through Wayside in Milton Keynes and found them to be excellent to deal with

Was at the dealers this week and they predicted 2-3 months for a factory order (as of their current experience), the same at Saab dealers, but at Volkswagen's ~6mths, so VW was 'out' for me...

Ordered my Combi Elegance 170 DSG 2 weeks ago for a Sep delivery.

I'm going nuts already, especially now with all the great write ups its getting. Sadly I think ther'll be one or two more on the road by the time I get mine...

We ordered our greenline combi about 3 weeks ago, paid depost and were told be in last week in may, first week in June. got a call yesterday to say it would be july which would mean not qualifing for scrappage and now today we are being told that there will be NO greenline combi's available until November 2011. Like who buys a 2011 car in novemeber. I am actually livid. we have a new baby on the way and really feel we are being given the run around but i have just seen the email from Skoda to the dealership which states NO Greenlines until November so I'd be advising you all to check on your orders. As it stands now we are being offered different cars but no choice in colour as they are simply the only ones left in stock. I think it is absolutely disgusting that a company is selling acrs that they can;t build and worse that dealerships are doing deals knowing that the cars arent available. At this stage we'll be taking our deposit back and never dealing with skoda or the dealership again. A real shame as looks like a super family car but obviously not

10 weeks from order to delivery.

Sounds like I was very lucky.

Phil

Daft question - but is the "combi" the hatchback or estate?

Daft question - but is the "combi" the hatchback or estate?

Combi = estate

Limo/limousine = hatchback

Those terms are mainly used outside the UK though.

I ordered a petrol estate in January and latest info is for a mid June delivery, I was originally told April. It has moved out from 9 weeks to 18 and I expect it to extend further. Im am thinking of staying with BMW as I can get a 18 month old 530i estate for about the same money. Believe it or not the 270bhp beemer has a similar combined fuel consumption to the 1.8tsi dsg Skoda. I am torn between waiting for a new car(Skoda) or staying with a car I know. What would you do?

Get the 2.0 Tsi Superb.

Phil

If you have trusted seller of 530i, and if it is in min condition, I would go that way. I was looking for 2-year old BMW 5 Touring instead new Combi, but I wasn't able to find similar spec car with under 50,000 km on clock with extended warranty. Major problem is that BMW can double price if you load additional equipment, and automatic, panorama, beige leather etc. But if you don't need all that, you might have luck to find something.

Most important fact for me was depreciation, since new car looses value rapidly, and you are getting used one which already passed that mark :)

Have a read of the 2010 Skoda Annual Report, European production has been reduced whilst Asian market production has been increased

As a result of ongoing economic recovery, overall car sales in

world markets, particularly in the Asian countries, are expected to rise in 2011. The repercussions of the global financial and economic crisis, however, will continue to have an adverse impact on the automotive market, particularly in Western

Europe. In addition, growing prices of raw materials in the world markets are likely to dampen demand for cars as well.

Deliveries to customers in Western Europe between 2009 and 2010 reduced by 3.5%. Cars delivered 333,261 in 2010, down from 345,185 in 2009. (Page 83 of the report)

So Skoda are making a conscious effort to supply fewer cars to Western Europe

Superb is the answer :)

I also wanted a petrol estate, but just checked with the dealer as to what stock was available from already built cars - I had 3 different colours to choose from the spec I wanted, 1.8SE Estate; I went for Steel Grey (other choices were black or silver) and got the extras sunset glass, bluetooth prep and an umbrella(!) for next to nothing.

Have ordered and waited for cars before but won't do it again, with the Superb, my previous Octavia and my wife's Fiat 500 we've always chosen cars built but not allocated and have had the extras for free...a little bit of flexibility on colour has always saved us time and money

It took 4 weeks for shipping from Emden to collection from the dealers...really enjoying the car!

I know what you mean, I know people who paid about £2k less for Audi A3's than I'm paying for my Superb... :giggle:
