  • I spoke to my local dealership when ordering and they said if you get a car pre week 22 it cannot be updated to the new 7 digit postcode thingy? Could be wrong though.

Nice one I bet you'll be glad to get that sorted

Aye it been a nightmare really , I have lived here for 50 years and there. Are roads here I've never seen, especially on anglsey were you can get lost Permanent lol, this area is all 7digits ,skoda need to do more groundwork because this is not the first time hey have balls up on there satnav's ,well I can see lights at the end of the tunnel ,(well as long as I can find my way to the tunnel lol)

Week 22 september 6months to wait for firmware update then,Ican live with that ,Iwoll try get freebies then from SUK for the hassle,IPrefer the Amundsen to the kenwood to be honest, although the kenwood is a tv as well

Week 22 is May 30 - June 5 according to the internet not september?

That was the impression of what I got from the model year changes - that it was a new '+' unit ie indicating possible hardware improvements and not just a software update like the Columbus recieved. Will be interesting to see how it goes though. :)

Garage owner phoned today, they have ordered a new and updated disc for the navigation it's just a new disc, the new satnav's are no different just the discs that come with the nav is update "+" is just this the Amundsen satellite is the same, so it will be done next week I think however don't think I an getting the disc just updating the sd card, I will need a new disc though as it updates from the disc periodically , so they will have to supply the new disc as well

According to the MY2012 info on www.skoda-auto.com the Amundsen+ sat nav will be available with a DAB receiver. Don't know if that will apply to the UK though.

Can you link the MY2010 info on the site please? Had a quick trawl and completely failed to find it.

Interesting that it says it also comes with Bluetooth gsm phone. Does that replace the factory fit Bluetooth kit?

The Czech language version says something about the maps being pre-isntalled at the factory? Does that mean the Amundsen+ has a hard drive I wonder?

Will be gutted now if my car comes with the old sat nav ... :( Lets hope build week is after week 22! We're on week 16 at the moment, can't see my car being made in the next 6 weeks so fingers crossed it'll be week 22+ :D!

Got the sat nav disc for my new car today, about 10 days after getting the new car, and I am pleased with it and it does do uk post codes, the main draw back is that the cd player is out of action if you want to use it at the same time, but I feel that is a minor point.

Just copy the disk to an SD card then it will free up the cd player

Does it do 7 digit postcodes?

Well phoned up skoda uk today, regarding the seven digit issue on the Amundsen again, now confirmed the new fabia's still with the old 6digit and no upgrade for the units for a while!, the Amundsen + not available in uk until 2012 but the disc may be available sooner in 2011 Amundsen six digit until 2012 then the + will be available, then when the TPI arrives (upgrade firmware) dealers will reprogramme existing Amundsen and new disc will be given out so you are able to periodically upgrade via the unit and disc,so until then we will have to use the tom-tom ,what a palaver , arse and elbow springs to mind, well nothing we can do until then!!!!!

I can't believe that Skoda are supplying a sat nav which is not fit for purpose. Surely this goes against trading standard laws where they're supplying goods which clearly do not work as they should - unless they have officially specified that it can't handle 7 digit postcodes anywhere. I know my dealer didn't mention any problems when I ordered my car.

They should pull the option of the Armundsen and replace it with the Columbus / Kenwood for the UK market at least until the + unit is available. Just feels from what I have read that Skoda are being very slow at resolving the situation.

Looks like a long wait for TPI firmware update, the reason for the + it's got dab radio, no cars coming through now will have 7 digits , however on the brochure now it does say it's not perfect in rural locations?, so skoda have covered their bottoms on this one , but as I ordered mine on the previous brochure I will hound them to sort it put , it's perfect in all areas until you require the 7 digit then it's stumped, they say it will take as close as it can to your final destination?, then your up a creek without a paddle !!!!

Many new Vw's come with this unit as standard it's an RNS310 but Skoda give it a name.

Skoda will be waiting for VAG to sort it out.

Cheers
