Insurance quote seems okay then, I have a second car so I can't complain too much. Both now insured with Norwich Union. Studbukle mentioned "6th as peak torque is available from about 68mph" does this mean there is no down change in gears to get a bit off power on the duel carriage way or overtaking when behind a car on an A road?

I still drive a little 106 so overtaking is a challenge. Forgive my poor driving knowledge.

I am also with direct line. Quoted
I'm older (40)eek  you must live in a quiet place? or something.

Yeah, I live in Morayshire. North Scotland, roughly halfway between Aberdeen and Inverness. Nearest Proper Dual carriageway about 60 miles. Only one main A road, all other roads are quiet and Twisty. Great for Octavias with Sports suspension and 17's!!

Once I get mine then i might :) try and get that far, well it is a bit out of the way mind, furthest I been is leuchars by St Andrews.

I'm at Lossiemouth, so u can probably guess why i'm here! LOL

I guessed, I've just left the green after 23 years

Forgot to ask, I also opted for the lights home/assist thingy option (
Work in IT also and opted for it, yes it is good and yes it is annoying at times, until you read the manual. Was for example driving down the motorway bright sunshine and the lights come on  plus I have Xenons so nice and bright. Turns out go over IIRC 140KMPH for a short period of time and they come on seems to be about 85/90 on the clock on mine or 80/82 on GPS Plus if you put the window wipers on for a period the lights come on. At times I think it is a little sensitive and could do with being adjusted.

Must be an IT thing - I work in IT and also specified the light assistant!

Possibly because we all have dodgy eyes staring at screens all day ;)

Just hope the car's more reliable than some of the systems I've worked on during my career :D Would hate my headlights to GPF on a dark B road

Another IT person with a skoda here, although I have a Furby - could it be because I'm still 'junior'? :D

What is the fuel capacity of the tank on the Octavia 2.0TDI? Also, is there any truth to a car running better using one brand of diesel over another?

55 litres me thinks, as for the diesel question I'm sure any oil company rep would say their's is the best!!

OK, so I'm not alone in being in IT and buying a new 2.0 TDI. Going out on a limb here:-

Any of you guys owned a speccy or comodore 64 :)

I had a commodore 64 :D Followed by an Amiga.

ZX Spectrum 16 bit original myself - just after the ZX81.

lol, Commodore 64, and an Oric if you remember that..... Brother had a ZX-81.

I hated computers until I had to use one to do my work in 95 (all the info I needed was on a laptop) then I realised they were not just for games although they helped and I was in the middle of Bosnia!!

PS Haven't the techies stolen this thread!!

Comodore Vic 20 followed by a Comodore 64. Used the 64 for word processing and simple database applications.

Then moved on to PC compatibles.
