My Octavia Vandalised

Featured Replies

Ar2e Hole! Glad he got a face pounding. I too feel your pain, I had my wing mirror on my Works Mini smashed off by a drive by and a week after replacing it someone else drove into the side of my Mini smashing it off again!!

Ouch, sorry to hear that, although glad they caught the guy :) (just hoping for a sensible punishment!)

£35 a pop sounds like a reasonable deal, even if you have to have them re-sprayed. TheSkodaShop (Horton Skoda main dealers) want £45 each, supplied in primer: http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/product/Octavia_%3E06_Wing_Mirror_Cover_Painted_L|H_1U0857537EGRU

My Octy is an 06 plate base model (classic 1.6FSI) It does have the indicators integrated, can I ask what is the puddle lights? And what are they for spotting puddles haha. Seriously never heard of these interested to know more.

I believe (someone will tell me I'm wrong if I am! :giggle:) they are a small light on the underside of the mirror housing that shines directly down and illuminates the ground when you get in/out of the car, so you can avoid standing in/falling over things. I believe they come on on locking/unlocking the car (and probably opening the doors, although I can't remember what my parents' car does).

Yeah am going to try anyway, there is a scrappy in Aberdeen called Overtons, there doing me 2 for £35 each when vat and postage is added it comes to £92.01 only problem is they are silver. Or would silver wing mirrors look good on a red octavia? Bit of an RS4 theme haha. She already sits on RS4 wheels haha.

That's a pretty good price really. As for silver, well there are worse contrasting colours I suppose! Might look OK. If not, you could always get the covers primered and done in the body colour by a bodyshop. Or pick up the primer, paint and lacquer yourself, for a DIY job.

Spot on. Standard on the Elegance and L&K models. Just adds a small 'puddle' of light around the door area when you unlock.

Just to say, on that SkodaShop link, that one is for a Mk1 Octy. Can't see one listed on their website for the Mk2, but they'd be able to quote you for it if you dropped them an email with the request.

Hahaha!!:rofl: Get a loan of a tractor but this looks more effective!

Do they do that in a GT ?

Doh - I went by the description of ">06", which would have put it as a MkII..?

You might well be right on that basis. Just that it's in the 'Octavia A4 1U Old Shape to 2005 ' category. So one bit of that is definitely wrong!

"Puddle" lights is the polite term! I wouldn't be without them! Puddles aren't the problem where I live - I get out onto a grass verge that is the dumping ground for the local 4 legged vermin.

Ah, wonderful! :giggle:

A quick call to confirm the part number should do the trick emoticon-0148-yes.gif

two days ago somebody stole my car cover...120 UK pounds worth because I had the inspiration of wanting a UV protection, burn proof etc.

most propably a junkie, but I had it only a week or less...

it is not so much the actual money loss that hurt, but the sensation of somebody violating your space...

I had my car vandalised in February. Every panel was "keyed" and fluid thrown over it.The estimate for a total strip and respray was over £4500!!

The actual cost was about £4200.

I have my own ideas as to who did it but the police were not interested in approaching the person for over three days, so any evidence was lost.

Moral of the story.......................DONT lend friends money. Least of all........Dont have the cheek to ask for it back if you want your pride and joy in one piece!!post-25340-0-97369000-1303991438_thumb.jpgpost-25340-0-60542300-1303991661_thumb.jpgpost-25340-0-50801600-1303991692_thumb.jpg

Just had the same happen - The bar steward came up the driveway to kick the mirror off (hope they fell and landed on the sodden grass, shame there's no blood on the broken metallic bits left sticking out of the door - that would have been justice swiftly self inflicted!).

Luckily the car's not dented or scratched.

Found a replacement mirror assembly on the bay for just over £50 - but it comes grey primed.

Does anyone know of Skoda sell pre-painted covers (I need colour code 9102 - silver-grey metallic)?

What would be a reasonable guestimate to get the grey cover painted?

If you sue in the civil courts, can't you get the cost deducted from his Dole? (I think you can).

If all the people who had it done get together, it might teach the individual a lesson.

But if he doesn't get his dole money this will just lead to further crime. Robbery for example... Never ending circle.

Oh and when someone did my mirror on my astra the cheapest place were wingmirrorman.co.uk - Give them your paint code color and order it.

Mirror was £55, paint+laquer £17.50 - off ebay

con: i'll have to paint it (wonder if I'll screw it up?)

pro - I should have paint left over for when it happens again (the scrote that stole the old one left two motor wires behind - so the mirror they have is now a manual model)

Wing Mirror Man - just over £101 painted
