Nice. Thanks for posting pics of the headuit with a USB attached. Always wondered how the navigation of folders would work.

Thanks for taking thetime to post these pictures, its really good to see this stuff while still waiting for my car.

I will try and get a video of the HU when it is hooked up to the USB stick

so is it the same cable for a usb stick as a usb hard drive? i just need to get it right in my head as ive got the option of using all 3 types as i have a hdd, usb stick and an ipod thingy and ill prolly go with the usb stick but it'd be nice to use the hdd too. think ill give the ipod a miss though

I pondered the same. I have most of my music files backed-up onto a Seagate HDD but also use a standard USB memory stick for 'everyday' use. My iPhone only has a handful of tunes stored so I've gone for the HDD option.

Im debating this as well...

Once i get new songs on the pc then that means ive got to take my MDD out the car and update it and put it back or use my iPhone (which is big enough to carry my entire library lol) then i can use my bluetooth as well...

The things we have to think about aye

but is it the same cable for the seagate as the usb stick as id think the seagate would need either a different cable or a converter as the ones ive seen ( portable hdd that is ) use a micro usb

i guess you only get 1 free one so best get it right lol and im pretty sure the dealer im using wont know, they didnt know many answers to my questions so its upto me (with your help) to get it right first time

Very true; colour, wheels, roof, options etc etc. There are worse things to worry about!

My Seagate drive is not the "Go Flex" type so it has a Mini-USB socket rather than the interchanagable cables thus I've gone with the Mini-USB MDI cable for the car. Delivery is not until mid-August so I should be able to sort out once-and-for-all by then!

I hope...

Ha that was the easy part, convincing the wife, now that was hard :giggle:

I swear by Poorboys World wheel sealant. Brake dust falls off them.

I used this stuff but didn't think it was that great. Maybe 3 coats would sort it!

Is it just vrs with this mdi connection, I've checked my elegance but does nor have this cover, sar nav has a plug were I can connect iPod but it's just a jack plug

The VRS has it as standard but you have to spec it up in other models

I removed my OEM stereo about 3-4years ago and fitted a single DIN Pioneer headunit with a USB lead that fits into the cubby hole beneith the stereo (was a drawer) and have been playing music as WAV, WMA, MP3, using USB sticks or portable HDD (max 250GB) on it ever since.....you lot are way behind!!!!!

Been doing that with my Corsa since I got it a year ago. Got an Alpine head unit with direct iPod connection. Happy that the new comes with it as standard cos I really couldn't be a**ed installing a different one in a brand new car!

Here's a quick pici of my install, with just a small 8gb stick in. Oh yeah don't show this to the other MKI Fabia drivers especially the VRS lot....they get a bit upset with the early cars having heated seats (adjust knobs either side above the stereo, and more adjustment than MKII Fabia) and elec rear windows as standard...and with the tan interior it dosn't look so drab.... :giggle:

Almost identical to what mine looks like mate. I've got the cable coming down into a little pocket bit infront of the gearstick though!

Tonight I managed to get pulled by the Police! Convo went...........

Policeman : Do you realise you have some fairy lights on the front of your car, fog lights are they sir?

Me : Nope, they are DRL/side lights

Policeman : So they are on all the time

Me : Yup!

Policeman : On your way

Good feeling that!

Update

Well I popped over to DHL to pick up a parcel of cleaning stuff today, when I got home my brother gave me this...

filter.jpg

And that's why he's a legend

filter1.jpg

He bought me a Revo filter and some stickers

filter2.jpg

Quickly did the change, old one out

filter3.jpg

New one size comparison with my iPhone

filter4.jpg

Fitted into the airbox

filter5.jpg

Also fitted one of the Revo stickers, not seen any fitted here so thought I'd try it

filter6.jpg

filter7.jpg

Got 2 more videos, not sure if the sound is the different to standard

Fabia vRS Revo Filter Rev Outside

Fabia vRS Revo Filter Rev Inside

First impressions are good, the MPG has increased, seeing about 48 MPG @ 30mph in D5. The filter doesn't give a lot more noise to the engine, sounds very similar to standard but does feel a little more responsive.

Got some more Silvatecs in the post today for the rear indicators, was actually an easier job than I thought

After :

The orange you are seeing in the after picture is the bulb holder. Really happy with them, no more "fried egg" look!

Exactly, I don't understand why manufacturers still use orange bulbs!

Cost...thats why!!!! But they like to make a song and dance about giving you two pen holders, three cup holders (well in mine) etc!!!! I wish they would get their priorities sorted!!! :wall:
