Another vRS Ordered! **Photos added!**

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Been on this site having a snoop round for a little while now with the thought of always buying a MK1 Fabia vRS last year. Unfortunately I ended up buying a Seat Ibiza as I thought it was a "Sensible" car that would see me right for the next 3-4 years, 11 months later I've finally realised that I made a mistake :giggle: .

I did look at getting a MK2 vRS a couple of months back but at the time the girlfriend and I decided it wouldn't be worth the money as we could use it to save for a deposit on a house...............luckily enough she is now the ex and that money is mine to blow as I please

I had run through a lot of options and decided to go for :

Race Blue Metallic Paint

Arm Rest

Electric rear windows

I went down to my local Skoda dealership (Progress Letchworth) and had a chat with the guys down there, they told me (and reading on here) that the car was on a 3-4 month waiting list at the moment, I hate waiting! They did however find that there were 3 cars available at port which I could look at buying, a Rallye Green, a Sprint Yellow and............a Race blue!! The options on the car were :

Race Blue Metallic Paint

White Roof

White Wheels

Bluetooth

I did also manage to get the dealer to agree to fit an armrest for me and chuck in some mats B) . I confirmed I was happy and they put my name against the car and said they would try to get it in before the end of the month for me. It should look like this (Not my pictures just some found on AT) :

My_Spec_Skoda_Fabia_vRS.jpg

My_Spec_Skoda_Fabia_vRS1.jpg

My_Spec_Skoda_Fabia_vRS2.jpg

With the 20% VAT off I managed to get the car for £14K, I can hardly believe the price for the performance! It should also be just as economical as the Ibiza is to run, same tax, same MPG, lower insurance!

Now all I have to do is try and keep busy so the time goes quicker and I can get my hands on my new pride and joy! I hope to speak to you all soon and meet some of you at shows and meets!

Very much so, always had lower speed cars so looking forward to the extra ooommpphh and setting some better 1/4 mile times at Santa Pod! Also got a couple of modifications ready to go on the car, headlight bulbs, silvertecs and stubby aerial.....oh and a full tank of super unleaded!

Very nice

BTW..Mid to low 30's MPG on ours doing mainly urban runs

What is it with the Ibiza that you are not happy about?

Sounds like what I'm getting at the moment on my urban runs which is good :)

What is it with the Ibiza that you are not happy about?

The 1.4 16v engine I have in mine isn't great, it seems slower than most other cars I've had. I always wanted either a Fabia vRS or Ibiza Cupra but at the time of buying my Ibiza I thought the money could be saved. Now I feel I have enough to save and have a quick car and with the VAT OFF deal I would be foolish not to buy the vRS over the Cupra.

Nice one, expect those ones waiting at port were cancelled orders, I would consider yourself very lucky! We ordered our new vRS estate on 30th Jan and its not due to turn up at the dealers until w/c 16th May! Could be even later if the build has been delayed!

No disrespect either but personally i'm not sold on white roof and wheels but do very much like race blue. The car I test drove was a hatch in race blue but had a black roof and wheels, in that combination looked the nuts. Still favour the dark chrome alloys over all the others though. However for a few week wait I'd put up with white!

Agreed the 1.4 85ps engine isnt fantastic but it does pull well. My wife has a 1.4 80ps Polo at the moment and whilst I dont particularly like driving it, she gives me a bit of a time trying to keep up with her and I have a 2.0 TDi CR 140 Golf MK6!

Definitely very lucky, when I went in a couple of months back the only vRS they had at port was the special edition one with all the graphics on and that was not VAT free. I wasn't 100% on the colour combination when the dealer told me but since looking at more pictures of it I'm starting to really like my choice, only thing is I will have to clean the wheels more! Hope you are able to pick up your estate soon, I wouldn't be able to wait that long I don't think, you must have the patience of a saint.

In the Ibiza it feels sluggish and the MPG isn't great, I feel like I'm always having to push the engine to get it up to speed :(

Cheers, cant wait for it to show up. We went Candy White, Dark Chromes and had parking sensors and elec rear wins put on it. A 180ps DSG supermini estate car for just over £14k.......staggering!

MPG on the 1.4 is terrible, wife gets 350-360 miles per tank max from hers, still think it should be doing nearer 400. If its averaging 35MPG I wouldnt be surprised. Still not so sure the vRS is going to be a great deal better :-)

Sounds like it will be a very tidy estate that will surprise a few people ;)

I'm not fussed if it's not better, if it's exactly the same I will be over the moon, even if a little less I'll still be very happy ;). Learnt lately life is too short to worry too much about bits and pieces, live for the moment :) and I might as well have it while I can afford it (living at home rules!).

Sounds very like myself. I only bought one becuase it's on VAT off deal and I really am pushing the boat out to afford it, but hey, your only young and only live once so screw it, it's exactly what I want and for the sake of £100 more a month over my corsa, I reckon it'll be worth every penny. And I live at home with the folks, thought buying a car was a better investment than renting a flat and having nothing to show afer the years!

On the topic of 1.4 polos and ibizas. I'm driving a 1.4 Corsa C (no i'm not a chav!!!! haha) and I do constantly feel like it has to be thuroughly driven to get the speed up. Is quite nippy though and it pushes around 90BHP. Get about 300-350 miles to tank depending on how spirited my drives are so the Furby won't be far off if not better!.

I'm on 3 weeks of waiting and still not even a build week from the dealer. Going to email him today cos I think I want another test drive just to remind myself of what i'm getting. I'm losing my excitement :( (Although the night before I get it will be like Christmas for a 4 year old! haha  )

Hope you enjoy your motor :D

HAHA!! I Honestly just want to sleep until it arrives!

I've ordered a Rallye Green with black roof and wheels. Added MFSW+Bluetooth and heated seats. I'm sure theres something else but for the life of me, can't remember what! haha!

Was told 3-4 month wait anyway. Really want it! My mate (female) decided she'd laugh at me cos I bought a 1.4 Litre Skoda. We'll see who's laughing when it arrives... ;)

Ha I hear you there mate! Sounds like a well spec'd car, should be brilliant when you get it!

I got a little bit of stick from my mum about the badge but I think I've started to win her round. Will be great to see peoples reactions to the car when I have it, can't wait to prove some people wrong!

haha totally! My folks had a MK1 vrs while i was learning to drive, got a shot a couple of times and loved it. Been pretty keen on Skoda's since.

I'm itching for the first 2.0TDi Audi to pull up alongside me and think about it.... I don't even think I'll bother with all the little gnaffs down the beach with their Suped up corsas! haha!

Personally think white / blue / white combo looks very smart indeed. Unusual too. Just make sure you invest in some Poorboys wheel treatment and it'll cut down the washing... :) Enjoy!

That's the other good thing, I don't think (well hope!) that a lot of this combo will be produced so will look a bit more unique :) already got a lot of Dodo Juice products and will invest in some more :)

Hey Frobb,

Indeed you're only young once so you might as well enjoy things whilst you can, mortgage time will come eventually!

I had an 05 plate 1.2 Twinport SXi with AC brand new and was a fantastic car, sporty looking, well equipped and for a 1.2 astonishingly fast and pretty frugal. Was my 1st brand new car and miles better than the 52 plate Punto Active Sport I had before that. Was chain driven so pretty much bombproof. Only problems I had with it were it ate clutches (kept developing clutch judder) and steering columns (a common corsa fault). To be fair my brother is a sales director for a Vauxhall dealership so got a massive discount on it. Good cars though, but indeed the vRS will be much better!

Yeah my 1.4 is a twinport. No a/c though which sucks major testiculars in the summer time! It does 0-60 quicker/equal to most of my mates 1.6's so I don't complain speed wise, but for obvious reasons, needs a good ol' thrashin to do it! I've had my coolant burst (it has 3 entry hoses so wasn't too much of a bother to do without 1 for a little while)/wiper motors buggered (again, a common problem) and just last week the heat shield on the bottom beside the spare wheel well came loose and is still hanging off. Got all that fixed to go ahead and sell it although I didn't do the wiper motor yet. The VRS will be awesome! I test drove it and loved it. The fact everyone my age is out buying VXR's and all that jazz also makes me happy because i'll be one of a kind and probably end up being a bit of a head turner. Only seen one other one up my area so I'm happy with the rarity of these little pocket rockets. Plus I can be happy knowing my VRs is probably going to outlive the VXR's. :)

Yeah build quality on that generation of Vauxhall wasnt particularly hot, they've come on somewhat. I'll always preference a Vauxhall to a Ford; may not drive quite so well but they are more solid in my opinion. I've had 10 or 11 Astra SRi XP hatches and sport hatches over the last few years (new one every three months - special lease deal by brother organised - mix of 1.8 VVT's and 1.9 CDTI 150's) and they were on the whole very good. Did have one 1.8 Sport hatch whose steering rack failed with 200 miles on the clock....not so great!

Since those I'm a VAG convert having had (between my Wife and I) an Ibiza, 3 x Golf's and a Polo; they're not perfect but build and material wise they are way ahead..well not the Ibiza!

vRS is a great car, loads of bang for your buck. It'll be the quickest car I've ever bought and I've just turned 30 and i'm like a child in a sweetshop at the mo! Just hope I dont dent my licence as a result!

Yeah I used to drive a 1.4TDCi fiesta. 08 plate. Slowest thing on the planet. Couldn't bare it! Folks bought it for me to use, althought it was just as their second car. then went and got myself the corsa, now got a VRs which, I've just had a phone call from the dealer a couple of hours ago saying my VRS is due on the 16th of May, Build week 20 (No black pack for me :( ballocks!!!!) It's only the second car i've ever owned so yes, will definitely be the fastest thing i've ever driven! 20 Years old and owning a VRS, I have to say, feels f***ing amazing! haha!! If I get this car on the build week i've told, that'll be 6 weeks from order to delivery! WOW! :D

I'm prob one of the oldest owners..the wrong side of 40

I notice that ChrisRS hasn't yet stepped up to the mantle to correct you and accept the honour yet!
