Replace my vRS

Featured Replies

My Fabia VRS is almost a year old now... it's a great car but I get bored easily so I'm getting itchy feet. The only problem is finding something else worth getting that isn't much more expensive (BMW 330d for example)! Things I'm thinking of a Seat Leon Cupra TDI, VW Bora Sport TDI and the Seat Tolado Sport all with the PD150 engine... or maybe even a Volvo S60 D5 (163bhp diesel). I'd be looking at ~2 years old, 30k.

So... if I was to move from a 1 year old Fabia VRS to a 2 year Leon Curpa TDI what would I gain? Worth doing? Maybe a remap on the Fabia would give it a stay of execution.

Get it re-mapped, full suspension, milltek exhaust...

You'l be far happier than replacing the car

re-map it will be like a new car...

Defo remap it. It will become a different car..........and less expensive than changing cars!

Remap. Literally different car, big wedge of cash saved.

Also the cars you've listed all are bigger, heavier cars and any 'on paper' differences will be much less, if present at all, in the real world.

Depends what you want really. The Volvo is a mega comfortable mile muncher for instance but with little in the way of stirring dynamics.

IIRC you've only been able to get the Leon Cupra TDi for just over 12 months, so you may not get one in your price range. :thumbdwn:

Depends on what your changing to ;)

You sound like me,i want to have a change even though i love my Octy to bits.

i've got the must get a new car head on,i put it down mostly to wanting a convertible and a particular couple at that.

i currently don't have a mortgage and am earning a very salary so think that now is the time before it's to late and i get to 40 and wish i'd done it!!!!

Maybe a Skoda Fun Truck is the next logical step after a vRS :D

Its all about progression :)

Its all about progression :)

I love it!

I was going to suggest an Octy vRS but I'm sensing an affinity with soot in your original post.

Try for one of those new Honda deisel's. they're supposed to be cracking...

And their (Honda) advert for the CDTi engine is quite funny it lasts for ages and it has fluffy bunnies :o:rolleyes:

Forget changing cars just go for the remap, filter, air intake, hybrid turbo, FMIC etc etc...

You'll have so much more fun developing a beast from a mouse :thumbup:

new Honda diesel only currently available on the Accord, FRV and CRV though. :)

and hi everyone btw. :D

look im new to most of this but get the re-map and then down the line if you find yourself geting board then get the Curpa air intake, but its all up to u.

Thanks for the comments... I've thought about the remap before and I'm not too keen. Basically all it gives me a more powerful engine but on the negative side there's the cash to do it, the increased insurance, the reduced reliability, the loss of warranty etc... I'm just not sure it's worth the hassle.

How about a Toyota Mk3 MR2? They seem a bit heavy and underpowered but the built quality seems good, good driving position, good economy, reliable etc... I don't think they look that good. What's the general opinion, what's the handling like? Shame they never put the 190 VVTi engine from the Celica in it.

Dude...understood that u get bored easily but...

What is the matter with u??? u sound like u change cars like u change underwear

ur car is ONLY a year old and you wanna buy a second hand car??? with the money u spend buying another second hand car you can use it to fix up ur fabia slowly slowly.

The dealer shouldnt void te warranty if u make subtle mods to it.

if i were in ur place id keep the car and fix it up slowly, and take advantage of the warranty that is still valid, which u don't get on second hand cars considering most second hand cars are sold after warranty...ESPECIALLY an MR2.

clv, why not try and get a decent Porsche 944 Turbo... they are well fast and good fun to drive I should imagine... you can probably get one for

If you've fallen out of love with it - bin it! That was my old man's advice to me! Mind you he left my mum for another woman when I was 6 so maybe it's not too solid advice mind..........

If you want to go silly fast for not too much money and still be a bit different to the rest of the sheep out there (and as you have had a Skoda, you probably do!) Then cash it in for a 1992/1993 Lancia Delta integrale. Should be able to get a decent enough Evo 2 for about
