If your car is built after week 22 it includes the update as standard, we're on week 17 at the moment, doubt my car will be made in 5 weeks time so I should have the update as standard.

Yes probably you will get the updated version, if I send you

a sd card would you contemplate making a copy?, if so I would make it worth while for you compensate you for your time!

OMG! Been to trading standards and I have a case under the sales of goods act, not fit for purpose apparently , went to see dealer and informed him (I feel awful doing it he and all the staff have been amazing) , I will need to write a letter stating my intentions and take it. In front of a judge , I feel it should be suk or head office in Prague that should sort this out the dealer didn't know there was an issue with the sat nav, all the other vag group have this capability, I feel so sorry for gwyn and the team having a really bad experience here, may in the future feel compelled to go somewhere else to purchase a vehicle for just £130

So you have the Amundsen sat nav? With the six digit disc, hope you get a better response than me , my dealer was pretty upset with the whole episode and I am convinced he's pretty miffed with me, so much so I am fairly certain that the next car will be something other than a skoda, SUK suck big time I am astonished that just have not supplied all fabia's with a replacement disc , I don't think they've sold many units, dealers only sold 1 other than mine 2 over all this time , so not a massive bill for skoda, but happy drivers they would have had!

Time will tell but the reality is your dealer is between a rock and a hard place.

No doubt they are not happy that you have got Trading Standards involved and are thinking of bad publicity and costs a well as hassle they could do with out. However since you have a clear case it is Skoda they should be miffed with, not you. Deep down I would bet they think the upgrade should be free, or at least a much lower cost, but have to tow the line. Also probably under instruction not give you the disc even at their expense because if done once difficult not to do for others.

Once the dust settles I'm sure they will not want to loose either servicing or future car purchases from you over this, nor want you talking about a bad experience to other current and potential customers. Equally since you need them while you own a Skoda sensible whatever the outcome for you to be clear you have no grievance with them but purely the policy of Skoda.

Of course if over this alone you decide not to buy Skoda again their loss while not their fault.

In total agreement I don't want to blame the dealer but trading standards did say that the contract I had was with them and not skoda in effect and it's the dealers who need to sort out, nothing was said about it's limitations at the time they previously only sold one, I need to write a letter of my intentions of small claims court action, but I will not do this don't really want to take it that far, but it's definatley effected my relationship with them!, which I totally regret they have been very good to me and on and off been with them for 20 years purchasing 7 cars and many services, however there are plenty of other dealers around that would greet me with a welcoming smile whilst taking the money from my wallet!!

End of may should be fine

My dealer never called back today after promising too. I am not so up in arms about it as mine has worked well so far but it would be nice to have the postcodes. I was a late February pick upbfrom new so I must be in the minority. Going to give my dealer some rope and see what they come up with before getting to upset.

I'll keep you guys posted.

In UK law as I understand for any purchase your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer. If any problem the responsibility is with the retailer and for them to liaise with the manufacturer for support for rectification, replacement or refund costs. Worst case if a court case and the purchaser wins and the manufacturer washes their hands the retailer is out of pocket for both legal costs and the awarded settlement.

Hence why in this case your dealer is between a rock and a hard place dealing with an unhappy customer, a (seemingly) uncooperative / unsympathetic manufacturer and possibly the legal system despite this issue being no fault of theirs.

I'm not sure of all the detail or limitations but the exception is a credit card purchase where your contract is with the credit card issuing company. Ultimately the credit card company has the power to refund the buyer then claim from the retailer.

I have used this twice when a shop initially did not want to be co-operative. In both cases once I got the credit card company involved the shop quickly resolved the issue amicably.

It would be sad if after 20 years and 7 cars your relationship with a very local dealer ended on a sour note over this.

Yes delta925

Cannot understand their stance on this, the dealer said seems that skoda will not budge and he is not willing to fork out for it either, seems a bit foolish and short sighted but there you go, a member here is willing to make an sd copy so it will be fine for a while,, then possibly I will have to purchase but I will get on eBay for a fraction of the price ,I am totally shocked that this has not been resolved, especially as so few of these units have been sold would not imagine it would cost thatmuch to sort out, a few hundred disc at most? And to make matters worse some idiot is getting married to day and apparently beneath his status bit of a commener apparently

Would the columbus disc work to update the Amundsen ?

Would the columbus disc work to update the Amundsen ?

No, the Columbus uses a totally different format on DVD whereas the Amundsen uses CD based maps.

Well to be honest! Skoda uk said it's a whopping £130 for the disc, however John good from SUK ( I think he should change his surname by they way because GOOD he ain't ) said that dealer was willing to help so down the dealers I went, he was not happy at all! He said well I could have it at cost, £96.30 oh and the vat on top comes to £120! Great thanks but no thanks, felt I was getting ****ed on!!

seboni121 I can't believe anyone could upset a customer like this £130 is less than 1% discount very strange. In the carpet industry I'd happy'ly give 1% to keep a customer happy B)
