Remap - A Question Or Two...

One of the reasons my daughter is coming with me is so that she can tell me "No" when I start looking at any other bits 'n' bobs to do to the car. I don't want to change anything else really, but you never know and having my smaller version of SWMBO there will stop me putting my hand further into my already empty looking pocket :( It's going to be an expensive month for me 'n' Nutty - 4 X tyres, 20K service and remap - about

Don't worry - the antipathy is very much mutual.

Beemer drivers will usually refer to terribly handling FWD VAG crap (Passat and A4 topping the list, granted) while referring to their vehicles as "real driver's machines".

They can respect a choice for Skoda, though ("if you are going to buy VAG crap, better spend the least possible amount of money!"), but will speak in very derogatory terms of the sporty image that Seat tries to front.

So at least that's something we have in common... :D

P.S. Mark, have not forgotten about your Gone In 60 Seconds request, but unfortunately figuring out this DVD ripping thing is at the bottom of my priorities list right now... :(

Expensive month for me too;

remap + exhaust + Wedding Anniversary + son's Brithday + Sister's Birthday + Mum's Birthday.

As for looking at other potential other mods.......it's nice to dream. I already know what's next on my adgenda; brakes!

Mattijs,

Don't worry about the GISS rip - whenever you get round to it is fine. If you do need any advice/help with the rip, please let me know as I have just about got it sussed now :)

Cheers, Mark

Adrian,

I think you win - if you can do that lot for

Ian, did Optimax really make that much of a difference? Has the engine been tuned for Optimax, or can it still run on 95 octane if desired? And did you opt for the switch which enables the boost to be varied? If so, does it plug into the OBD port?

PS I'm not going to 'do a Jon' and ask those questions in separate posts. :)

Saucer of milk

for table 2 please! ;)

:D

Optimax rules.... the fuel of kings!

Heh, we've even got you interested in a remap - thought we'd never see the day :D

Ian, did Optimax really make that much of a difference?

Well, as per post, yes it seems so.

Has the engine been tuned for Optimax, or can it still run on 95 octane if desired?

Yes, the engine has been mapped using optimax and yes this was because Mike asked me if I always used optimax. It can run fine on normal 95, in fact does not feel much different, but I would not do a "hard" run using 95. No danger I feel, just paranoia, so if I can't find optimax and I know it will be on a nice empty country road, I will get SUL. For the motorway journey's my car does 99% of the time I probably should use normal 95.

And did you opt for the switch which enables the boost to be varied? If so, does it plug into the OBD port?

No, no switch, as I did not see any point, I know I would always leave it in "the best" position anyway - the car can do 0-60 in 6.4seconds and yet get 39mpg, what else could I ask for?

I feel the fact that the car is so driveable and flexible is a testament to Jabbasports custom mapping.

We'll have to compare notes on the experience, Paul. Or you could always go home the long way via Teesside and we could do a real comparison :D

or we could meet at york one day and find out on the strip!

Elvington? I'd love to :D

Do you know when the next "run what you brung" is?

will find out... not many thru jul/aug... too many real races..

Mark,

If you still need info, here is some more

Just a few mins walk from jabba is the centre of crowland, walk out of the gate and go left and keep going round the bend and under an arch, et voila. Several pubs, Post office, 2 supermarkets and a Sarnie shop oh and one cash machine. It seems quiet a tourist attraction because of some old arches and other bits.

And the occasional fighter jet over head.

Yep, and I've given them your reg no in case you return to Lincolnshire, Des. I wonder if they will be able to keep up with you. eek.gif

Cheers for the info Manny et al. I hope your remap went well, I'm presuming you have started another thread with details in that I haven't caught up with yet  I wish some of the more enthusiastic poster on this forum would have a thought for the slow readers like me ;)

This time tomorrow, I will be gently wafting my way to Peterborough - can't bl00dy wait :D

We'll be waiting for news Mark.

Enjoy!

Cheers.

Adrian.

What with my new, quiet, ultra-stealthy exhaust? ;)
