FABVRS Top Speed

Mike,

I agree with you all on this topic. But, when in Rome (as they say) and I wanted to try max speed just once....

I reckon your car must be able to push through to an even higher speed with an extra 20+BHP over mine. Where is your power graph? I'd be interested to see where you get the power from and where in the rev range i appears. If it's up around 4500 or so, then you will definitely have an advantage!!

This is what my car runs around on, on a day to day basis.

And this is the max he got from it in 6th gear.

from the second graph in 6th gear 198.8 kmh converts to 124 mph, not sure if this is it's top speed, but the needle does only seem to goto 130 mph and there is a small margin for error, so it may of been maxxed out.

On a bright calm day on a smooth stretch of road in a foreign country with no traffic around...... I got my 1.9 TDi to a bit over 120mph and it still felt like there was enough power to go faster if I wanted. I didn't have my foot to the floor.

5th gear is too low for that kind of speed. But whats worse is it didn't feel like it was 'sucked to the floor' - it was more like 'preparing for takeoff', it really did feel like it was lifting at the rear and there was some little aerodynamic (sp?) issue. Not really a car to break land speed records in then.

Wasn't driving like that for long, a bit slower is much more relaxing. I'm probably not going to drive like that in my Furby ever again.

Most I've seen is 4600rpm in 6th, whats that mean in the real world,54 fab.

any chance of a bigger version of the pic plz

You might want to trim your reg plate from the first image HellFire; I noticed you'd done it on the 2nd :D

It's ok, thats not my reg plate, they inputted it in wrong :D

I can honestly say i have seen 140mph indicated out of a 100hp fabia with a body kit. I have to say though that was what i would call a 'quick-un'...... was that a 1.4?

It couldn't be. Unless the car was made entirely of carbon fibre and has ultra-light weight fittings it couldn't possibly reach 140mph with 100 horses. The megabusa is only 120bhp, but its only 400kgs, and so does a 0-100 run in 3.5 seconds.

If you get to 4600 rpm in 6th in a Fabia VRS, I reckon that you are doing a real 150mph.

Using revs against gearing, we worked out my 4500 rpm in 6th was 146mph.

Your Fabia VRS must have been tuned for more power at top of revs as even most of the others here with 'tuned' Fabs seem to be running up against a limit around 4000rpm.

Two things I have doen which may or may not help:

Air filter intake, shave off plastic flap and trun intake pipe upside down to increase direct air-flow into airbox.

Cut away the plastic 'fins' in front of the intercooler intake to maximise air flow to the (little) intercooler.

Just a small note aside - I don't think CV is quite as much as HP.....

From a car with a manufacturer's claimed top speed of 115mph and a 0-62mph time of 11.6 seconds?

Air filter intake, shave off plastic flap and trun intake pipe upside down to increase direct air-flow into airbox.

I tried this a while ago, then I found water in the Air Box. I spoke with some people and they said the flap was to direct water through the 1/2" gap.

Go get the 3rd bit (intake trumpet) from seat, it has a larger orifice molding but retains the water deflector.

Have you measured your speed with a GPS device? The speedo does read higher than your actual speed the faster you go, and on some cars if can be out quite a lot compared to others.

Hi CCVRS - There is a hole in the airbox to let out any water and the amount that actually makes it in is negligable. Consider it as my own free aquamist!! I will look for the Seat part though...

Hi DanielTheManual - I have not used a GPS device to verify speed. I think it would be good to see actually as apposed to speedo reading. Using revs plus gear ratio, though, it was worked out to be 146.something. Can that method work 100%?

you would need a very special gearbox for revs and gear ratio not to be accurate....

No that was a PD.

But on the same note, i can definatly verify that standard VRS' can reach 150 mph on the speedo - quite scary really

My new one's been up to about 140. Bottled it though - wing mirrors were about to fall off

I guess its only me who is too worried about their license to go much over 100.... I'll take your word for it :D

LOL you will never get 150mph out of a vRS dream on.

U never know, they might have managed to in the 2 years since this thread was started....

Apparently, a remapped on will do 142 mph on gps.... :jab:

LOL you will never get 150mph out of a vRS dream on.

And the troll is out to play again.

had mine with revo remap to 128mph and was still pushing quite easily, definately had a a fair bit more to give. Other cars slowed me down!
