Meh Top Speed sucks 40-70 is where you want the punch.

Really? Not much use in a lot of situations then :(

Chris

Na but good fun all the same

You mean if you drive it off a cliff at 40, it will hit 70 very quickly? I guess with all that weight at the front it should be on it's way to terminal velocity quite quickly.

I think for the Fabia (with its high Drag coefficient) you might need 270-290bhp to achieve this.

Ive seen many vids of 1400bhp Skylines which just cannot break the 200mph barrier, yet the McLaren managed 241 with a mere 621bhp...

Doesnt the Evo FQ360 only just manage 160mph? and thats nearly got 3 times the amount of power of the TDI 130.

For high top speed you need high power not high torque.

Ever thought the EVO's 4-Wheel Drive system slows it down at the top end?

Ever thought the EVO's 4-Wheel Drive system slows it down at the top end?

Tell that to the Veyron & Murchelago.

It doesnt slow it down its just that the power to weight ratio is less - so really once off the line every speed increment is tainted due to this.

Actually just checked out top speeds on Parkers

The Evo FQ300/320/340 & 360 all do 157mph top speed - so clearly at that speed the gearing is the limiting factor, the only difference between the4 is that the highest power one will get to that speed the quickest.

Dont care. This is a Fabia thread.

No its a valid point as I was replying to your issue that the 4wd system was to blame for low top speed.

If you dont want these sort of replies dont put down an issue which you will know will lead to clearly a non Fabia response.

lol again at the 150mph vRS (with more to come).....nuts.

Welshy, the 4wd system is an out-dated obsolete system, used by people who don't know anything about cars. Please keep to the topic in hand (Fabia).

My vRS has gone, at a maximum, 185 MPH, but that was on the motorway on a quiet night, and it took me about half an hour to get it up to that speed on a long straight road. But, I don't have an EVO 4-wheel drive system, so there's nothing weighing my car down or causing drag.

It's difficult, but, it is possible.

If you knew anything about cars at all, you'd know that.

That's nothing - I was out last night racing my mate in his Macca F1 and my Mondeo saw an indicated 250mph (took me about 20 mins to get there, but it is possible). The only thing that overtook me was an F14 fighter being flown by Tom Cruise. He's the best :D

Chris, this is a serious thread, don't troll the thread please with facetiousness.

The 4wd adds weight and increases transmission losses as the speed increases, but I suspect the real problem is the car is geared for blistering acceleration, rather than high top end (as it's based on a rally car). Wasn't it the FQ400 that could crack 190mph? I forget....

Likewise ;)

Fact is, it depends on a lot of things. As someone said before, it really depends on how much you're willing to spend! I've spent almost

Um Tell that to Buggatti & Lambo & Audi & all those Rally drivers that 4wd is obsolete...

you say you got your vRS to 185mph - so that would be not far off 6000rpm.... um you do realise that there is a govner on all diesel engines which you cannot rev beyond - or have you removed this??

You should say to the other poster to stay on topic he went on about the evo - I purely porvided the date.

Take those rose tinted mucky sun glasses off. Get real man.

Im not interested in people who state utter rubbish it really does make you look childish to other users - hope you take the advice.

Oh FYI - to get to 185mph with a road car you really do need well in excess of 400bhp and have very low drag.

Yes, I did remove it. As I said above, I spent almost

Care to tell how much your insurance premium was - where you had this "work" done what specifically you have had done & how much power you have.

I'd imagine you might be approaching 250bhp/ltr

Oh - sorry just seen your post count - you are a troll talking utter sh*te.

Or a new user? You're the one swearing & abusing. How can I be the troll, you troll? Stop trolling please, trolly trollison.

Anyway, back to the thread.
