Hello guys

Please can some body help i am torn between Vredestein Sportrac 3 and the Uniroyal Rainsport 2.

I have found infomation on both on the tyremen web site

ibought rainsports and they have been good so far - better than pirellis

I would probably say Rainsport 2s as a lot of people on here. I have recently bought a pair too. However for a number of years Vredestein came top of AutoExpress of their tyre tests. My father has them on his Scoobie and likes them. The only comment I'd make is the Vreds are very 'vocal' when cornering hard in the dry.

My Rainsports a quite squeally in the warm weather too. Be in braking, cornering or accerlating they'll happily squeal away. Can get annoying though it must be said! Otherwise - I really like my RainSports, in either the wet or dry.

I have just looked on that site at tyres in vRS sizes and I didn't realise Vredestein made these tyres in our size.

Hello My name is Chris from Tyremen.co.uk.

 

We have gone through changes over the last 12 months new website etc... 

We can see a lot of searches coming from the 2 links above however these 2 tyres are now discontinued but have been replace with better versions.

 Vredestein Sportrac 5 & Uniroyal Rainsport 3

 

We have also had a massive price realignment saving can be upto 40% when compared against retail prices.

I have used Rainsport 2 and Rainsport 3s and have no complaints about their grip. However I found RS3 were very soft and wore out very quickly (only lasted the summer). RS2s were far better for wear.

 

I have no experience with Sportrac 5s, but they seam to do quite well on some tyre tests. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vredestein/Sportrac-5.htm  I was tempted to try them this year, but went for Asymmetric 2s instead.

How come do your RS3s lasted only one summer? Did you get it on trackdays? I've done about 15.000miles with the RS3s and they do look pretty much new. I've bought a set of Sportrack 5s for a Sandero and the ride is fantastic, I couldn't ask more for a regular car IMHO. My other Fabia has Goodyear Efficientgrip Perfomance fitted. Those are good tires as well I can say. The bad thing is that one of four got a puncture in less than 3 months.

8 months, 7.5 k miles, no track days or racing (car is not mapped). I wouldn't say I was a quick driver either.

The wife has RS3's on and the fronts only lasted 8K but with the excellent grip and the fact you can get them for around £65 fitted meant that I had them fitted again. Thought it was the fact that she doesn't brake going round corners but maybe not

The best I've had so far is about 12000 on a pair, I've just fitted a new pair this is now my 3rd pair. Grip is excellent though so combined with the price I'd say they are about the best you can fit before moving into premium prices.

Are you sure you are running yours on the correct pressure?

Yep although the camber is out causing premature wear on the inside edge, no doubt I'd get a bit more out of them if this wasn't the case but to be honest I'm quite happy with them.

Running these on mine although in 205/40 17 and they are a really good tyre

I had RS3s on my Celica and have the SportTrac5 on my Fabia.

 

The Fabia is a different animal to the Celica, polybushed, coilovers, LSD and is also putting 100bhp more down through the same width tyres, and I feel the SportTracs are just a better all rounder. Most of all they don't suffer as much in the damp not properly wet which I felt was the RS3s weak spot.

 

Though as I said, completely different cars making a comparison hard.

 

Wear so far is minimal over 5k. Did an afternoon on a wet track with them too and they were fine

 

But... my next set will be the SportTrac5s again!
