For me:

Grand Prix Legends

but it has competition from:

NASCAR 2003 season

GTR

Richard Burns Rally

yes, I like my race sims :D

I suppose you could categorise it

Unmodded PC : Halflife 2 or C&C series

Modded PC: TA

Console game: Super Tennis (Snes)

Retro: Jet set willy, or jetpack, or Bomberman on the Amiga (with full 5 player)

Got to be "Shadow of the Beast" on the Amiga which was one of the first game to run at 25 Frames per second. "Stunt Car Racer" was also another classic on the Amiga.

Also can't believe no one mentioned "Mario Kart" on the SNES in split screen mode with your 3 mates :cool:

Gotta be this one, it just submerges you in the story so well, and the enemy A.I was fantastic, some of todays games still aren't as good!! Remember the first time your saw and fought the commando squads!!

It came from the desert.

I still play TA. Im using the original units too but with the patch so you get a few more. I think its great fun.

So hard to come up with a best game ever. Tends to be tied down to 'best game of the moment' IMO. The best of their time for me would have been :

Elite : My first proper game on the BBC B (not a PC I know :) )

Doom : Anyone ever play it on the old dialup multiplayer BBSs? I used to run one of those with a couple of friends

Warcraft 2 : Spent huge amounts of time playing online using a DOS dialler from Demon Internet & Kali IPX prog

Quake : Remember sitting up with a friend til 3am downloading the QTest from the iD FTP servers :)

Ultima Online : To date that's been the most captivating to me. I played non-stop for over 5 years & had 6 active accounts when I finally quit

Starwars Galaxies : Been playing this for nearly 2 years now. Not the best 'game' exactly, but the online nature of it more than makes up for this for me.

I tend to have a go at the single-player games and although some of them have fantastic graphics and have short-term 'wow-factor', I just get incredibly bored with the linear gameplay. Go here, shoot this, go there, talk to him etc etc just doesn't cut it for me. Similarly driving games bore me to tears :)

hehe

I can't believe someone else had stunt car racer! Never really knew anyone that owned it, ever!

I had it on Acorn, same as Amiga version i think...fun game. I remember there were tracks on the moon with hardly any gravity and track loops.

Wonder what it would be like to play it now

My Acorn has long since passed away. Think it had 5mb!

I used to play it all the time on my 1MB amiga , including plenty of head to head games with two of them linked up.

There is a near perfect version I've played on the SonyEricsson P800 mobile phone thats good fun as well

Leisure Suit Larry ;)

Chris

I'd have to say that Operation flashpoint is the best game. Can't beat a good ole game of capture the island!

However i also really like Half Life 1 and 2 and also Mafia.

Atari2600 : Adventure

ZXspectrum : manic miner

C64 : Wizball/Last ninja

Amiga : Cannon Fodder

Snes : Streetfighter 2

Playstation : Metal Gear Solid

N64 : Zelda (Ocarina of time)

Ps2 : GTA Vice city

Xbox : Halo

PC : RTCW/HL2

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Metal gear solid on PS is one of my fave's along with Unreal Tournament on the PC

Not sure if i feel there the best because they were the two first games i ever played.... apart from simple atari games... my choice HL1 and Quake 2...

Come more up todate... Morrow Wind 3 the elder Scrolls... WOW!

On my Xbox todate NFSU 1 or conflict vietnam

Joel

Ps 2 Pro Evo 4

PC Civ 3

Atari/Amiga Super Cars 2

Civilisation 2/3...the number of hours lost to "just one more turn!"

Goldeneye on the N64
