Possibility of cancelling order

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have ordered a Fabia Estate diesel on the 30th March and haven't heard anything since.

I was told when I ordered the car that it would be around 12 weeks, but looking at the invoice it says 16 weeks.

I'm not sure I can be bothered to keep waiting and hope my car will arrive some time this year. Does any one know if its possible to cancel your order if you haven't been given a build date yet?

The way I see it, is that I have given £1000 deposit for them to build me a car, but as they haven't even bothered to contact me and haven't started the build yet I should be entitled to cancel my order? Or is this completely wrong?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Nick

If they haven't conacted you yet try giving them a ring they will know the state of the order. There was someone in another thread and the first contact he had was being told on a Wednesday he could pick up his car on Saturday.

I was given a delivery date of October when I ordered in April my car was built last week and on its way to the uk.

Jammy Moo I ordered start of April and mines not being built for a few weeks hopefully :(

i ordered mid jan being built mid august is a dsg though

cant see how it takes so long

answer to your original question lies in the contract

think you have to let them know and give them 30 days

to try and get your car delivered

me ill give em till mud sept not here then find a differant make

altogether

Shows you how screwed up the sales process is that you've given THEM money and bought their product and YOU have to ask them what's going on etc. :wonder:

ive heard from my dealer people have cancelled there cars, so just tell them you need a answer now or you will cancel, i think you will get the right reply, good luck.

In the same boat with mine, not even got a build week yet, ordered on the 19th March, the dealer keeps pulling figures out of the air, 12 weeks was promised and now its changed to 20 weeks if I'm lucky apparently!

I'm sure you'll lose your deposit; certainly some element of it will be non refundable.

I'd just be patient; is apparent that Skoda are having some part availabily issues and are struggling to keep up with the demand the VAT deal has created.

We ordered our car at the end of Jan and its only just turned up 4 months later and thats not too bad compared to the wait some have had to endure. Stick it out and just look forward to getting the new car.

Looks like they have run out of dsg units so no more vrs or any vehicles specced with dsg will be cancelled until ?

I was told £500 would be non-refundable.

It will vary from dealer to dealer though as the contract you have is with the dealer, not Skoda UK.

That's the thing innit the dealers are getting royally sha€ ted here they should refund all monies as this waiting period is laughable

where did this info come from? if they cant build cars then it might give leverage for a refund of deposit or sweetners

im looking at an mot and service in august and im not wanting to part with cash if im not keeping a car. so if they cant deliver then they need to be looking at ways to save us financial costs when cars have been ordered in good faith yet sadly not received. im not aware of any issues with my car but imagine getting an mot bill of several hundred £££ 2 or 3 weeks before a new car is delivered. i guess i can delay a service but the mot is req'd by law so pretty screwed on that one.

all in all i have to say its been a pretty disappointing purchase so far, i know it'll be worth it when it arrives but all these delays are taking the shine off it, never waited this long on my mk1 :(

Thanks for all your replies.

I can't see why they should keep the deposit if the car isn't even any where near being built.

I'm sure it says someone that they can keep the deposit if they have incurred any costs, but I can't see how they can when they haven't done anything except type the order in the system.

The salesman as ignored all my emails and is never there when I ring. Very poor service.

I would go up the dealer management chain and let them know exactly how I feel and that I am getting a really bad service from this particular salesperson!

Get trading standards involved, got info of the forum there are major problems getting the dsg out quick enough!, absolute shocking bet you the same gearbox in the A1 not effected

Your car is not due for delivery until July 20th. Until that date arrives you can't be certain that delivery will be delayed. If you cancel before this date they will keep your deposit.

If your can does not arrive before that date, you need to give them written notice that you will cancel the order if the car does not arrive by August 19th (you need to give them 30 days to rectify the problem). If it still has not been delivered, then you can demand a full refund without any deductions.

Of course, you can ask the dealer to cancel the order at any time, but make sure you understand the cancellation policy before you do.

Information on the forum skoda cannot get the dsg unit finished as problems with imported parts the lack of, so can not finish the units so they will have to hold back the orders

Call Skoda UK and express your dissatisfaction and lack of contact then drop in and see the dealership premiere, be sure to express your dissatisfaction with the lack of contact and that the salesman is clearly avoiding you. I'd also drop in the conversation that your trust and confidence in the dealership has been lost and that you expect them to rebuild this trust otherwise you will go to another Skoda dealer.

If you get to the stage that you want to cancel and go elsewhere then you should get back all your money if the car hasn't started to be built as the dealer should still be able to cancel the order thus no cost incurred to them.

Keep us posted what you do.

Hopefully Skoda read these forums and take note.

Oh they read them! 100% even the dealer said they always check if customers are saying bad thingsemoticon-0149-no.gif

Been in the dealers twice in the last two weeks, salesmen say most of their phone calls and emails are now dealing with frustrated customers and they can't give them any information.

I think they are making this worse themselves though by not contacting customers when they say they will.

The last two weeks Rainworth were supposed to call us on Friday and no phone call. I dont mond if there is no news but at least ring me and tell me that when they say they would ring.

We are going to review the situation at week 20. Original estimate 16-20 weeks but at the moment we are looking at 46 weeks and even that isn't a confirmed build date.

I wouldn't treat the run out of DSG roumer as fact just yet though as the Yeti, Octavia and Superb forums are not having any big issues with 7 speed DSG orders yet.

Cheers

Lee
