Possibility of cancelling order

Featured Replies

Hi Lee apparently the fabia dsg is not shared with the octy , superb or yeti one is dry and the other wet clutches

Nope, that's wrong I'm afraid.

Skoda only use two DSG's.

7 speed dry clutch on all vehicles with 1.2TSi, 1.4TSi, 1.8TSi and 1.6TDi

6 speed wet clutch on all vehicles with 1.9TDi. 2.0TDi and 2.0TSi.

VW and Audi do have other DSG's for bigger engined cars with a front to rear engine layout and full 4X4 Torsen Quattro set up.

Cheers

Lee is right, all 7 speeders have a dry clutch and are generally only available on the smaller TSi & TDi engines. That said VAG now have a 7 Speeder that has gone into the TTRS, RS3 and RS5, not sure if that is wet or dry though; probably wet given the power and torque outputs it will have to cope with

Ah I understand now these engines get chucked into all the skoda's and so this will be matched up with the relevant DSG box, sorry its quite confusing its because I am on the other side of 50 emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Thanks for all your replies.

I can't see why they should keep the deposit if the car isn't even any where near being built.

I'm sure it says someone that they can keep the deposit if they have incurred any costs, but I can't see how they can when they haven't done anything except type the order in the system.

The salesman as ignored all my emails and is never there when I ring. Very poor service.

They should be pleased for you to cancel as everybody else will move up the queue and helps ease the pressure. With such long waiting lists the dealer could probably still get the car and sell it on for a premium. One year old VRSs are being advertised for more than the £13,960 I'm paying for mine- if it ever arrives.

The new 7 speeder is rated for engines upto 450PS and 440lbft. It has wet multiplate clutches the same as the 6 speed version but the clutch packs are bigger and have more plates.

One error the designers made with the six speed was to have the hydraulic circuit and lubrication circuit using the same oil. VAG were forced to introduce an expensive 40000mile oil change service for the 6 speed dsg to prevent hydraulic circuit contamination.

The 7 speed wet clutch box has an oil circuit for the hydraulics and to lubricate and cool the clutch packs and a seperate oil circuit to lubricate the gears.

This box is for engines mounted longitudinaly and for torsen four wheel drive versions and as Skoda do not currently sell any cars with this layout the box isn't available in Skoda's.

Just a thought but did you pay the deposit on a credit card. They may be able to offer advice seen as how the transaction was over £100?? worth asking.

I'm pretty sure it says on the order form that the money is refundable if there has been an unreasonable wait in terms of having the car delivered.

Have a read of your order form for exact wording - anything over what they originally told you is unreasonable.

Don't let them fob you off. Be as ruthless with them as they would be with you.

Thanks all.

I have phoned and told them I want to cancel the order and they said the sales manager would phone me back, but we might not get our deposit back. Phoned twice now since Thursday and left a few messages with sales staff to get manager to call me back. Plus have sent two emails informing them we are cancelling and sent a letter. I can't say I am surprised they haven't called me back as they are totally useless. Going to pay them a visit tomorrow if they are open. I'm surprised they even manage to sell any cars with the poor service they offer.

Only written cancellation would be accepted by the dealer and I would expect them to reply in writing. If you sent the letter on Thursday, it probably arrived on Friday. If you sent it recorder delivery, you can check. You need to give them a couple of days to reply.

Hi Nick, I think, like me you have waited a decent amount of time for a build date, sounds very much like how my dealer was with me when I cancelled my order. Just remember the customer is always right, I kept reminding my dealer of this as they said I couldn't have my deposit back. They eventually said they would refund me but if you don't get any luck I would ring Volkswagen not Skoda and say you are disappointed and it could sway your decision to buy any of the brand in the future.

The customer isn't always right but if you've waited a reasonable amount of time and its still a no show its not 'unreasonable' for you to cancel as you can't keep hanging on indefinitely.

The problem as I see it is that your car is not due for delivery for another 8 weeks (July 20th) as stated on the invoice. You have no right to cancel because you haven't been given a build date. The dealer has to deliver the car on or before the date given and that's it.

If you went into John Lewis and ordered a Sony TV on 10 weeks backorder, you wouldn't expect to know when Sony was building it. VAG thought it was a great idea to release build dates when delays were short ,as it dissuaded buyers from cancelling. "Don't cancel - your car has already been built". Now it is causing problems for them, they are looking to 'limit' this information.

The last two weeks Rainworth were supposed to call us on Friday and no phone call. I dont mond if there is no news but at least ring me and tell me that when they say they would ring.

If you order was though rainworth then ask for a SLI Number then track it yourself on http://www.trackmyskoda.co.uk/

i order though rainworth on 4th april, octavia 1.2se DSG and was told 12-16 weeks, got my built date as week 24 a few weeks ago so it is more or less bang on 12 weeks

Sorry to hear that you are having alot of trouble with your order. I ordered my 1.2tsi DSG beginning of October and it turned up end of feb. I knew they be a delay as I ordered a few extras and the VAT offer as well also contributed to the delay. The car was worth the wait and I no hesitation in ordering another new skoda. I was lucky as the salesperson here in Wales kept me up to date every few weeks and can't fault them for their service. Personally

when ever some gives me poor customer service and fails to respond to my phone calls I go down to the store create a scene in front of other customers. Its amazing how quickly things get sorted when potential customers are walking out of the door. When you get your car you get to fill out a customer satisfaction form. Keep that form and post it yourself. If he refuses ask for a copy as you have signed it and is a legal document and then forward it to skoda Uk. I'm also sure you will get one thru the post as well. Hopefully your order will get sorted as it is a great car for the price that you are paying for it

Nobody in their right mind would go to buy a telly and happily wait 10 weeks for delivery of it. With a new car you always expect a wait, so that it can be built. It's not like Skoda will be building 100,000 identical cars and then be shipping them so that dealers can have them in stock - these vehicles are bespoke to individual customer requirements.

If the dealer has, when he purchased, given him an indication of the time to wait for his car then anything over that is unreasonable. I suggest you hand deliver your letter to the dealer and ask to speak to the sales manager there and then.

Write yourself a list of reasons to say why you're unhappy with the process and just reel them off when you're there. If they're still arsey go to the CAB and get some advice and then ring SUK.

Don't settle for anything less than a 100% refund of your deposit.

I have worked in the motor trade for many years (now thankfully escaped) and I can only think of a couple if times where we have kept Antibes deposit.

The law is very clear, that the dealer may only keep money if the cancellation costs them money, and then they may only keep what it has cost them and they must prove that expense.

As your car has no build week, the spec can still be changed so your 'slot' can easily be sold to anyone else as any spec can be added/deducted from the order.

They have no justification of legal right to retain your deposit regardless of what us written in the contract.

If they refuse, issue a claim through www.moneyclaim.gov and you will find your deposit coming back to you.

It's frightening how many people buy expensive items with no idea about their rights, implications of contracts and cancellations etc.

Hi all,

Got hold of the sales person today and he told me there is a massive delay for my spec car. He had to tell a customer today who ordered an Fabia Estate in January that it won't be built until October.

They have agreed to give all deposit back as there is no build date.

So a good result in the end.

Glad to hear you got your deposit back, its just such a shame you had to go through all that hassle!!

What you looking at getting now?

do you know what stinks about these waits, it the fact that people have ordered after somebody else and they have already taken delivery of their car. it doesnt make sense, optional extras aside the car should join an orderly queue and be built as such. we are seeing people here with same/similar orders and vastly different delivery dates.

apart from rear electric windows im pretty sure my other few options can be retro fitted, cruise, center armrest and the mats and flaps deffo can, even i can fit those so why such a delay?? its all well and good if everyone has to wait but this process seems absurd. once the quoted timescale is up for me i will be banging on their doors everyday

Well I ordered mine September 2010 and got it February 2011 so 5 months wait 20 weeks, I did spec up I had elegance black magic and put on satnav curve projector, mudflaps, b pillar back tints alloy door sills spare wheel and ESP + so I waited 20 weeks and to be honest another 20 weeks but I did have another car and the valuation I had on my superb they had to honour after 5 months

I agree seems very unfair that some ppl get their car in 8 weeks and some in 30 ...
