312mm Shopping List!

Featured Replies

Hello,

One of the things on my rather large shopping list is the very popular Brake upgrade for the fabia. After recently driving a mk2 vRS ive come to the conclusion that I would rather spend my money on my mk1 (Cough...I Perfer it....Cough) So...... My questions are..

What parts do I need to create this braking package? Im very lucky in that I have a Halfrauds Trade Card So I can get the equivelent OEM kit for a good price. So say I could raid most of the Vag parts from an Audi TT I could do so.

Im i right in thinking that i would need

312mm Vented Front Discs (I dont want grooved or drilled)

Calipers

Carriers

Pads

Anything else???

Plus ive heard reports that the standard 16" just clear them is this true? As on the cards are ether a pair of 17" spiders or 17" Cupra R Ibiza Alloys.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

312s fit under standard vRS 16s and look pretty cool because they fill them nicely. a Cupra R has 18s, unless you mean the mk3 Ibiza Cupra R but are they the right PCD

People fit Audi TT lines as well (Not required, just a bit longer and make life easier).

I've got a pair for sale, wouldn't you believe ;-)

The easiest and probably cheapest way to upgrade is to buy a a used kit from Ebay that includes discs and pads.

I got the whole lot for £100.

There's a Octy 1 vRS breaking on Ebay. This would make the job even easier because the calipers and carriers are already painted Skoda green.

Edit there are two...

Ok so, all I need is calipers, carriers, discs and the lines what year of audi tt or octy could i steal these from. As i said before I might as well buy brand new rather than second hand.

And calipers dont matter to much if there not painted. Was wondering whether to paint them red or black anyway

And yer i meant mk4 ibiza cupra alloys sorry i got carried away with the extra R

Make sure you get Pagid pads, they are the best for 312's, theyhave the perfect pedal feel and are progressive. IMO.

DS2500's if you can stretch the budget (I've not seen much cheaper than £150 a set! )

only 1 set of pads suffice...ds2500's.

ok so what car would I get these off?? a 2005 Audi TT 3.2? The only reason why I ask is thats how the eclipse system works at halfrauds so its a search by manufacturer then make then year then engine size

Not the 3.2, I think that had 334mm front brakes(same as Golf R32). 1.8T mk1 TT's had the 312mm front brakes.

Awesome mate your a star

Any chance when you get your bit's from Halfords you could post up the price of the kit as like yourself I have a trade card so this maybe an option for myself in the not so distant future.

The Pagid pads are one of the OE suppliers, they are fitted to TT's Golf GTi's and many others in the VAG group that have 312 and 288 disc sizes, they all use the same pads. Don't think Halfords will stock them you would have to go to Euro Car Parts or GSF.

As for the Ferodo DS's they would be suitable for your car if you are going on the track, they come into their own when hot but when cold they are not so good and feel wooden in comparison.
