Tyres

A good thought with 205 55 16 but I would like to see whether it makes a big impact on the style. It be great if someone can post a picture of it with that thickness.

will 205 55 16's fit the standard alloys? seen a good set of conti's for nearly £100 cheaper than 205 45 16

It might look good and be cheaper. However the tyres are 41 mm larger in diameter (20 mm deeper sidewalls) this works out to be 6% different. Tyre firms normally say a 2.5% change should be the maximum. Your speedo and milometer will be wrong.

I had some on for about 5 minutes when I got a good deal on some winter tyres. They rubbed like hell on the back so off they came. They're simply too big for the car.

EDIT: I've just found the pic of a guy who had them fitted. They just look rediculous
