Mk6 flat bottom MFSW

It's working with my Kenwood headunit too. I can change source, skip through tracks and adjust volume. Functionality with the bluetooth however seems to be limited to just answering a call. I will contact Kenwood / Parrot about that.

Coding was trivial - had it fully working in a couple of mins.

The buttons on the right side successfully control maxidot menus, but a couple of the buttons are Mk6 specific and are redundant here. The maxidot controls on the right hand stalk still work as normal.

Only parts required were wheel, bag and 1K0 953 549 CH controller. Car already had 1K0 959 653 C slip ring and 1K0 953 513 G cruise control stalk. B)

Nice work.

I was only talking about this with Ben the other day.

I thought the airbag in the standard vrs steering wheel might fit. Good job you said it doesnt

P.S. Hows that new version of the map? Still as good as you first thought?

Yup. Can't go wrong with Shark.

What took you so long, Leon?

like this :D

Is the Kenwood unit good (what model is it) and easy to fit would it go strait into the classic model without coding

Yes, I like it. It's a DNX 520 VBT It needs no coding.

Hi Nick, the wheel looks really nice. How much did the entire lot come to? Easy to install? Have you got the part numbers for everything required?

£250 for wheel and airbag, second hand but from a low mileage 2010 car so as new and £140 for the 1K0 953 549 CH control module so £390 all in.

Thanks for that. Has the wheel got DSG paddles? Is it a straight bolt off bolt on job?

I specifically bought one without paddles. The DSG ones tend to be slightly pricier. yes, straight swap of wheel and controller assuming your slip ring and cruise stalk are the right revision already. Then just a quick VCDS job to code and calibrate.

Picture replaced with a better one. Refresh if it hasn't changed.

Gtd?

:giggle:

my octavia is not built yet but i havnt order the mfsw, will this mod work on my car when it comes?

Thanks for the info Nick. Any idea of how I would find out if I have the correct slip ring and cruise stalk? Mines a sept. 2007 car. Also what code do I need to change in vcds?

Is there absolutely no way to change the logo on the wheel?

Will any VAG MFSW work on a Skoda?

You run into complications with the dual stage airbag with Audi wheels - even the 8P A3 ones.

AMB_1 - I'm not 100% sure how long octavias have used those revision parts but I'm inclined to say you'll be alright on a 57 plate. A dealer might be able to tell you based on your reg.

Pastyboy badge stuck over the VW badge would be a good solution!

... Until the airbag triggers in an accident and it becomes a missile firing directly into your face

I drive everywhere in reverse for that very reason

On a serious note (brimma!) there's a scirocco wheel on ebay that ends in just a few hrs, only on at a quid but watch out for the postage charge :o

Could probably get an Easyjet flight cheaper than that and go collect

Nick, did you have a MFSW wheel prior to this? If so, what controller did it have?

Also, off topic, what suspension is in your car?
