Who said the Fabia vRS couldnt get below 6 seconds 0-60?

Featured Replies

Cheers for the mention Si, really need to change my name on here! My times were as per the below :

2c1b8b65.jpg

Race 1 : Beat a Stage 2 Ibiza Boc (had engine problem)

Race 2 : Lost to a 350bhp Leon, was leading it to third gear

Race 3 : Easily beat a Corrado V6 auto

Race 4 : Easily beat a MK1 Octavia vRS

Standard form it impressed and I got a fair few comments about it, very tempted for a map now!

I did speak to a track marshall today, he was telling me about this White version of my car destroying everything on track yesterday ;)

nice standard figures there, backs up the press doing 0-60's in 6.5 seconds

Thanks Sharkrider, was hoping to sneak under 15 secs for the 1/4, something to aim for!

According to theresults.co.uk Simon was quickest Skoda of the weekend and I came second in class :rofl:

Think I would have been quck enough to have been in the top five in all the classes bar the 4wd and heavily nodded class.

Lol about the old guy, he loved my car. Upset alot of people especially when you lie and tell them its stock

Beat alleged 312hp heavily modified golf gti twice

Beat ovtavia vRS stage 2 de-dpf twice

Beat stage 2 Mk1 fabia vRS with 200hp

Beat mk2 golf with stripped interior and VR6 engine conversion twice

Beat stage 2 Leon cupra

Among many others. Only beaten the once by a 500hp twin turbo'R32 which no joke was pretty mucg finished by the time I was halfway

Still not happy with the times though, think there's much improvement To be had on a proper prepared strip

me being beaten by Simon, my car should be doing sub 15's i really need to work on getting the power down, my run was a 15.5ish

I've been at meets with some 200+bhp mark I's, and the way the mark II takes off from a standstill with the DSG, really does make a difference if you are fighting for traction with all that torque in a mark I ...

Do you have a LSD?

nope and its the first time ive run with such a toquey diesel, need to practice the launches, plus my tyres had only done 200miles lol, im good with excuses

seemed like you held onto 2nd to long there trevor. could you email me the footage of that please

I think the way the the mk2 puts its power down se easily is why it was doing so well, once rolling pretty much all the cars would have had a much better chance. The GTIs for instance were gaining on me and an extra 10m and they would have had me easily

cheers pal

ah right. have you tried zipping it?

trying that now and it was 58mb lol

Can someone educate me as to what the point is of trying to con people into thinking it's standard?

Surely people who partake in these runs aren't that green

i didnt go round telling people it was standard. Just when asked i told them standard thats all. You r right most guys will see past that, and then i tell them, but you get the few that look horrified and thats worth it :giggle:

I get away with it anyhow as its no louder than stock, whereas all the other stage 2 guys you can here a mile off. Stealth bashing all the way. i dont do loud or stickers.

I've followed jasons (devonutopia) fabia at WSM meets too , and his LSD does make a difference... he weaves around a bit as the diff puts the power down, but it does get it down and so takes off quite nicely

tyres are everything

Great for those people with the Dunlops

Nice vid.

What tyres are you using?

contintal sport contact 3, but plan on wearing them out over the next few months with track days, so i can get some really sticky tyres on there.

In all fairness the contis are actually OK in all conditions, but i was still spinning up like crazy at te strip. lot of time to gain by getting better tyres

the contis literaly "muller" the other OE tyre (dunlops) you will need so more track focused tyres if you want to get the traction you're trying for... I believe 888's are in the correct size....

Great tyre the R888's, but if you are going to use the tyre on the road then the TOYO R1R's are a better bet. Better wet weather grip, no tractor tyre noise from the tread and still have 95% of the track ability. B)

How many miles do tyres like that last on the road?

Im thinking of getting Federal 595RS-R semi slicks. The likes of danza reckin they are very good, almost as good as the R888s but £50 a corner cheaper which makes them a really good choice for tearing up the track. Plus I swzp to winters in novembee anyway so mileage isn't an issue.

The car is only light so id say 8k plus depending how hard you drive

these are also highly rated http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Hankook/Ventus-RS2-Z212.htm

and much cheaper from camskill than 888's.

Think their popular with Clio owners also. Cheaper than Michelin pe2's and R888 and sit somewhere in the middle for dry grip.

Coroldo boy use to run these on his mk1 when we used to go to blyton. He seemed happy with them.
