Who said the Fabia vRS couldnt get below 6 seconds 0-60?

Featured Replies

The car is only light so id say 8k plus depending how hard you drive

I'm only expecting 5000 miles out of my 888s... maybe less if I really thrash it.

They do grip well once warm though.

How many miles do tyres like that last on the road?

On my 400+bhp Golf the R1R's lasted over 6,000 miles with me and were still going when I sold on the car

Standard vRS comes with Dunlops or Conti Sport 2's not 3's...

Im thinking of getting Federal 595RS-R semi slicks. The likes of danza reckin they are very good, almost as good as the R888s but £50 a corner cheaper which makes them a really good choice for tearing up the track. Plus I swzp to winters in novembee anyway so mileage isn't an issue.

I've been thinking about those tyres aswell, very low price for the performance.

Recon I can get the 215 without any problems, gonna check if I can get the 225 for the front-tyres.

The 225-tyres are way cheaper then the 215 >.<!

I used to have a 200bhp suzuki swift which was turbo'd.

Best tyres i used was the Federal 595 RS-R, they gave just as much grip as my old TOYO R888 tyres at about 1/3rd the price.

Worth looking at, they are made in Taiwan NOT CHINA, good tyre

Great tyre the R888's, but if you are going to use the tyre on the road then the TOYO R1R's are a better bet. Better wet weather grip, no tractor tyre noise from the tread and still have 95% of the track ability. B)

total agreement toyos are top tyres, had them on all my cars.....

Ross run a 5.67 o-60 in his 201hp mk 1 vrs

Was that sunday. The sunday times were alot faster as it was warm and dry. Good time though

Yeh it was, dam good time with no dsg etc and diesel

Comparing your similar 0-60 times against Ross his quarter mile was at least a couple of tenths faster each time. So even if it was the same conditions he would pull back in the mid range and remember lower temp is better for intake temps and more power not warmer, warmer giving more grip of course. Not knocking you just sticking up for mk 1 lol :D

How was his faster each time, I had the fastest time of the weekend for the skoda class what were his times and modss?. Would have been good to have been there sunda y as ever ones times were faster by a fair amount, both sprint and 1/4. For instance nicks octavia was pretty much a second fsdter in both sprint and strip times.

Im hooked on it now. I think I can mke a sub 5. If I can manage 5.6 on a poor, cold surface with the std 205 conti2 tyres, I think on a proper prepared strip with v.good tyres in good conditions could yield at least half a second

Ross did a 5.67 0-60 and 14.155 1/4? In a heavier car with less BHP but more torque iirc?

I feel a drag race at pod coming along...

I think he was lucky lol

I'm at Santa Pod on the 9th July with my mk1 diesel Fabia... ;)

He still has a manual box and a diesel is much much harder to get off the line than yours just reading the figures lol

I cant see it getting better than 5.5 seconds, the weight, power and gearing of your car limits you to this.

Unless you drop weight from the car i doubt a low 5 second pass is possible.

They say unsprung mass is worth 4x as much as regular mass, maybe some super light wheels and a stripped interior with bucket seats will get you there??.

Sub 5 seconds has already ben achieved by an ibiza cupra so its possible, and its my aim now hopefully its not going to be expensive

Fair point but also bear in mind launching the dsg7 is awkward in its own right.

With the dsg7 you can't hold any revs up for a launch, because as soon as you hold the car on the brake it cuts the revs. Tried holding it on the handbake but it still creeps forward, so the only way of launching is to go from tick over revs and smash the throttle down also holding the brake disengages the clutch so there is a pause whilst that engages as well. If we can get launch control sorted with a dsg remap allowing us to sit with the rdvs at 3000rpm whilst stationary, I think we'll get a marked improvement

Janner_Sy, doesn't the DSG engage the gear before you release the brake pedal?

In our DSG 7 speed petrol Yeti as I lower the pressure on the brake pedal I can feel it engage just before I take my foot off, but it's still stopping it from moving. If I know lights are about to change I can bring the pedal up until 1st gear engages and so get no delay at all pulling away.

I wondered if people didn't know this and others did, which is why some say the DSG has an annoying delay and others don't... ?

If I relese the brake pedal quickly then I get the delay.

I was doing it like that but there still that delay from releasing the brake to hitting the gas and the revs being at tick over. Would be so much quickee to be able to hold the revs up like a manual and dump the clutch. Its why the guys in the gtis with dsg get such good launches as they can do it

Well it'll be interesting to see the result when you can hold the revs up at tickover. :D

I think there is something wrong with your handbrake then, my handbrake manages to keep the car stationary while putting some pressure on it aswell.

Anyone knows if 225 mm wide tyres fits in the front?

Edited by Confide

215 tyres on front will be fine but I would think 225 will be too wide?
