Who said the Fabia vRS couldnt get below 6 seconds 0-60?

Featured Replies

Yep, but then the old vRS used to be a match for the Seat Ibiza FR, now its a match for the Cupra and Boc.

He started with less bhp/torque and now has more or less a similar output but has had to spend alot more money. You'll have higher top speed but he may get there quicker if that makes sense due to torque.

Your looking at peak figures. Peak figures don't make a fast car. Its the area under the power/torque curve that make a car fast. Diesels runs out of revs faster so the peak torque cancels out somewhat, where a petrol car with less torque but a longer rev band could have an equal amount of area under the graph or more so it will cancel out somewhat.

Bored of the what's faster thread now lol. We'll let the times do the talking and since I was faster in less favourable conditions I win lol. Only joking his was quicker on the sunday so I would lose lol Key thing is though I've only spent £140 on mods for my car. Id bet on a midbrange pull he,d have the legs on me though. Guy on here billy almost caught me out. He has similar mode with exhaust and and mao etc, and initially he stayed with me, which I didn't expect

Ah, i'm lost with the peak figures bit lol :)

My last car was a MK1 vRS so I am aware of the shortfalls in that engine - the wallop then nothing, next gear, same again :D

Like you say, in real world or on the drag strip is where it matters. Funny enough his torque was limited to preserve the clutch, I should imagine with more he would get a worse start and have to work hard to catch up?

The larger the area under the power curve the faster the car is the gist if it. The area under the graph equates to the acceleration which the mathematicians amongst us could work out with a spot of integration.that's also tied with gear ratios, gear changes, weight, tyre size, tyre/wheel weight.....its not just figures that make a quick car is what im saying its alot of factors.

Another example is high peak figures that drop off rapidly are not as important as maybe lower but more consistently level figures

What im saying is that the mk1 has more torque but over a shorter rev range. The mk2 has less torque but over a longer rev range so the areas would be similar, hence performance would be largely similar but in a different delivery. I think where the mk1 loses out is with shortee rev ranges you change gear more often, which is the dsgs trumo card on the mk2, especially as its mong proof

I was having heat issues on mine on runs where I started suffering heat soak. Mikko was going to turn my boost down further to create less heat, which would stop the heat soak and allow more consistent times. I turned down the over though, I've just bought a load of heat tape forbthe exhaust instead to keep the heat out the engine bay

Shame it tops out 2nd gear at about 55mph as that hurts the 0-60 times.

Otherwise I'd probably be sub 5 seconds with a standard weight diesel Fabia.

That's impressive time with 3 gear changes. Can you guys use full 1st gear. I only use 1st gear for the initial launch then straight into'2nd to keep traction. Hoping with better tyres I can use the whole if first. Typical soda cost cutting. The ibiza and polo get 215 wide tyres as standard. The fabia gets 205 wide

He's mapped very conservatively as he is still running original clutch so would be a different story soon as he gets an updated one I'd say he will get it tweaked. Diesels runs out of revs quickly because there is alot of power in a short range so it revs very fast not a bad thing really. He would destroy you ;) lol

I'm still learning my car.

First 0-60mph run is here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/202729-richards-09-mki-vrs-se/page__st__20 (post 28)

I can use 1st to the redline (held it too long in the clip) as I'm on 888s and an LSD. But even so it get's the traction control going quite well.

Going to experiment with short shifting into 2nd.

As I said, I think a sub 5 second is quite doable if the third change wasn't needed.

My car is standard weight with full SE interior and a spare wheel.

Is it possible to put a bigger turbo etc on the fabia 2 vrs?

What all can be done?

Yep, been done already with guys running 250-260hp.

@ct17, id bet with lsd and r888s that sub 5 is achievable on a good strip. Prob not at bruntingthorp though.

Don't be getting too hung up on the figures lol ;)

just fitted the forge intake and FML it doesnt fit on left hand steering cars ....

but i got this one , what do you think . this was the first run after the ramap without the forge intake @26° temp. after 4 runs it went up to 318 NM

I have to agree there Marc, it‘s confusing that it fits so bad...

Ashamed to open the bonnet really :-(!

just fitted a rubber bumber on the bottom of the housing so you dont have such a hard contakt to the brake fluid tank . i also cuted down the cold air scoope by 10 cm so the cold air intake tube isnt that close to engine parts anymore . bonnet down = yeah bonnet open = FML

You guys talking about the fitment of the Forge kit?

yes on non UK cars . so left side steering

yes on non UK cars . so left side steering

Ahhh Ok

How are you finding the car with it on?

fitting is a bitch to do . cold airintake tube is 15cm to long. The airbox housing is to big so it sits directly on the brake fluid tank . took me like 3 hours to fit it properly .

Do you feel it was worth getting? Can you feel better response etc?

What curves are what. Is the lowest one standard the second one mapped with intake or is the first curve mapped with std intake, and second curve mapped with forge. Also crank hp or whp

My car previously ran 210hp/265lbft up in mansfield at stage 2;with std intake but at jkm with forge intake band same map made only 213hp/234lbft.

Crazy about the fitting mine took no more than 15 minutes. Also chuck your graphs into here: dyno graph thread
