Quaife LSD

Featured Replies

As many of you may know, I bought a Quaife LSD for my vRS in March and have been waiting to have it fitted ever since. But finally, after a three month wait, the kind people at Jabbasport took the time to install it for me. My huge thanks go to all of the team. I had a refreshing experience of quality service and workmanship at a reasonable price.

After the 150mile drive back to York I have concluded that the Quaife LSD is THE best mod I have ever done, hands down.

Bearing in mind I am running ~340bhp 350lbft through the front wheels, this thing does an amazing job of controlling it. For instance, I can now launch the car hard, in the wet, without breaking traction. The drivability has improved tenfold. I am just staggered at the improvement to straight line traction as many people said I wouldn't notice 'that' much of a difference with it but there most certainly is one. It's almost like having 4wd it's that good.

From a cornering aspect, I haven't really pushed the car hard as I want to get used to it before I do, but I get the impression it has a lot to offer. I had a quick go on a large round about on the way back and applied full throttle in 2nd and whilst before I was used to the car understeering in a mess of wheelspin, it now does the opposite by gripping and hugging you tight to the bend. It also puts a bloody big smile on your face.

Not much more to say really, but it is WELL worth the money and hassle of having it done, especially if you are running big power.

I just can't wait to get it on track now :D

Cheers

Jolly D , so test rides for everyone on Sunday

Sounds like a lot of fun Harry :)

You can seriously give it the full beans in 1st gear without spinning up, or is this just a 'harder' start than you could do before?

I can go WOT in 1st if I ease it in. If it is really damp then it will of course just light the tyres.

The traction benefits are just amazing though. It's best in 2nd and 3rd, where you can unleash all the power at legal speeds :D

Result

nice one Harry... must relieve all the frustration of big power FWD wheelspin  now you can make use of that power from low speeds... B)

Cheers Dave and yes it does. Far more drivable :)

Great news Harry. Sounds like a resounding success :D

Bet you're glad you kept hold of it now emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Lucky you! :)

I am also seriously thinking to go for LSD on my car due to huge torque from chiptuned TDI engine which actually wheelspinning 225 tires on second gear even on dry road. The only problem is that Quaife is not responding to emails about compatibility...

Sounds like real fun! A mod I'd have to consider before upping any more power through mine. Also heard good things about wavetrac LSDs too so some research is on the cards I think. Has this affected mpg much?

I wasn't to keen on you before......now I really hate you! :giggle:

Good times mate, from what you say thats an impressive improvement for not a massive expense, how much was the fitting, if you don't mind me asking?

The lack of an LSD was the biggest thing that I missed when I bought my VRS so it's interesting to read this. With an LSD you should be able to get the power down quicker through corners and generally carry more speed in to corners. It should be great on a track day now

can I ask how much it cost to supply and fit?

Jabba are a great company and fortunetely for me they are local.

I bought the diff, bolts, oil myself at around £760 ish, then Jabba was £380 for fitting. Absolute bargain. So you're talking just over a grand. Well well worth it

Definitely, especially with the power your car is producing.

I'm gonna try and get some vids this weekend to try and show the levels of grip it has to offer ;)

Good to see your opinion.

Got one in my Fabia and it really helps get the power down.

WIth the power you've got it must make a hell of a difference!

It does. I was so impressed by the straight line improvement.

A Focus RS has no chance now...

I'd like to think mine can take an RS with a 0-60 in the low 5 seconds.

Against yours they've not got a hope in hells chance.

What have you done to your Fabia out of interest?

Sounds good, thanks for the info. Thought it would be around that sort of money. Huge gain on the handling front

Let us know some times as well if you can mate. 0-60 for boasting but some in gears would be good as well.

Will do mate. It's brutal, 0-60 feels a lot quicker

Harry I. Would stay with a FRS easily in my octavia so yours djould muller it even without the diff

I want your cars! I'm at stage 1 and it certainly needs something to minimise torque steer. Your boys insurance must be insane.

Ive only raced a z4 with my stage 1 and i left him but not my much, guess it wasnt the 3.0.

I would love to smoke an rs.
