If nothing else he's an idiot for putting it on a public forum, in his "RIP Fabia" crash thread. Insurers do read forums, he's signed up with his real name, and virtually all of his plate is on show in the first pic. Should his insurers stumble across this thread, what do you think their attitude would be? Either he was breaking the law racing on a public road (even at 4am, it'd be illegal), or possibly breaking terms of his insurance by being on a track (which I in no way agree with, but it has been happening according to threads posted here after USC a few weeks back). Either way, his policy could quite easily be invalidated.

Sorry xaosx umm are you suggesting doing 139 with "bad tyres" is one LEGAL? and Two SAFE? Now I'm not saying I drive everywhere doing the speed limit but 139 in that car with bad tyres is not safe! Plus I would rekon in a court of law, if I had proof that he was racing the night before doing 139 mph, I think most people would throw the book at him with the crash he has just had, thus making it something to do with the crash!

Oh slightly worried I have mtech brakes!

This thread wont last long now lol, let the arguments commence :giggle:

I can't believe this thread hasn't been pulled yet by the Brisky police.

im sure it wont be long dude, probs a bit earlier for them lol

Why is he an idiot? It's perfectly legal (and considered safe) in other countries, for all you know it could have been at 4am with no one else (except the VXR) in sight.

What other countries is it considered safe and leagal to race other cars @ 139mph???

None, whilst the speeds are accepable on a small number of roads elsewhere, "racing" with no supervision on the highway would get you pulled anywhere.

Hope the OP is unhurt and has learned something apart from cheap tyres don't stick. i.e. Slow down when the weather's ****ty.

J.

Yeh you might only have been doing 50-60 (under the speed limit) but it clearly was too fast for the conditions and the road you were on etc.

I just hope that you were on a clear and open stretch of motorway doing those speeds.

Racing other cars is pretty irresponsible and often ends in tears.

Nothing wrong with a traffic light derby but taking it all the way to 139 is just stupid really!

It was probably the high lateral impact that did the disc, I've seen other manufacturers discs go the same way with similar impacts.

I'm not even going to comment on the accident and the dice with another car at high speed, others have already done that.

Glad to see nobody was hurt, that is the most important thing.

I never got idiots writing **** like the above... Clearly it was more safe doing an apparent 139mph racing a Astra VXR than doing the speed limit round a wet country road.

I am not an idiot. :dull:

Briskoda is an open public forum for one and all to see. I'm not sure if you are aware but there are several police offers on here alongside different insurers. The OP is not only using his real name but has listed his car, plate, mods and what his previous driving style was like on bad tyres. This really isn't a smart move.

As previously said, the main fact here is that nobody was hurt.

Darwinism in action people, give the OP a banana and move on.

He's off the roads for now so we're all perfectly safe :smirk:

totally agree with you Rob, lucky no one was hurt and hopefully he'll have learnt his lesson, if not then he deserves to loose his license.

Learnt his lesson for crashing at under the speed limit due to a slippery surface?

That's just it. It is a speed limit not a speed target. In his opening post the OP states that the road surface was "wet and greasy" therefore in this instance whether he was under the speed limit or not is irrelevant, the simple fact of the matter is the OP was driving too fast for the condidtions.

End if the day country roads are 60mph limit buy you don't drive down them doing that speed do you, you don't have to drive at the limit, would you drive on the motorway doing 70 in the snow, no, use your common sense.

I don't appreciate being called an 'idiot' for stating that he's a muppet for bragging about driving like a tit.

In the same block of text that he said he has killed his car by driving at inappropriate speeds / manner for the conditions, he also stated he beat a VXR racing on the public highway and got up to 139mph (TWICE the national speed limit).

It is not acceptable to race on the public highway. Full stop. It is not legal in any other country either, yes, there are derestricted parts of motorways in other countries, however if you got caught behaving like that on them, they would do you for dangerous driving, impound your car and lock you up.

I stick with my original comment. He's a muppet. Glad he didn't kill himself or especially anyone else.

+1 although I'm starting to think the people trying to defend him are also moppets and have there licences taken away!

Too many chavs with no brains are buying cheap Furby diesels now. Just watch the premiums for these go through the roof very soon. The OP is clearly not a full schilling, and is lucky he wasnt being shovelled into a bodybag. Bragging about racing too and at an alledged 139 on the public highway? He lost his mind?

At least one company (my old one) won't touch vRS models now (Fabia I/II, Octy I/II) and yeah, I believe threads/drivers like these are partially to blame.

Well theres one less on the road now! Just a couple left on the site that could do with "leaving" (which judging by what they think think is acceptable and safe driving shouldnt be too long)

I hope your not right mate, but I have a feeling you are. Even were I live am only 22 and ive started to notice rude boys driving them around with blacked out windows, lexus style headlights, cheap hid kits and billowing smoke everywere :'(

Makes me glad that mines a good example.

Plus A massive lol at the 139mph vxr racing dribble. Thats the problem when children watch fast and the furious!!!

Personally I think you've been slightly irresponsible, hopefully you'll learn from your mistakes though.

Just think yourself lucky that you didn't meet this idiot on your 139mph 'race'. I'm all for spirited driving, but prefere to participate on my own! Other people are too unpredicatble, and I care about my car too much to risk having them run into it!

Always drive to the road conditions too, and watch out for newly laid road surfaces, as they're super slippery when wet, as my mate found out in his Ibiza.

Apart from that I'm glad nobody was hurt: metal can be replaced
