Vag.Com 'hidden features'

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone know what things you can do using Vag.com (such as headlights staying on for a few seconds after locking etc)?

  • Central convenience section 46, and I think it is channel 5 or 6 where you turn on and off the locked / unlocked beep. I would charge nothing, Skoda? Who knows!!

  • What does tear wipering mean please? Thanks.

  • It merely alters level of powered assistance. If anything I'd have thought making it heavier would reduce wear, as the pump uses less force. In any case, I suspect the ability to alter the value is in

I changed the number of presses on the key fob from 2 clicks to open all doors to 1 click to open all doors.

It's the little things that makes life a little easier. :giggle:

Its been discussed a fair bit, and a lot of it depends on the age of the car. But some include:

One touch unlock

Auto lock (after 10mph)

Alarm beep

Steering weight

Comfort Flash Indicators

Tear Wipering

I`m sure theres a few more i`v forgotten.

On the fabia 1 though a lot of the natty features available on CAN cars are not there. The ones above are available, although I am not aware of tear wipering on the fabia 1.

Mine definitely has it. Drives me mental. Wash, wipe, wipe, wipe, stop, wipe, SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH. Must dig out my VCDS cable and work out how to turn it off.

Then let me know please. Might be something people actually want (mad people :D)

Edit: Think I found it - channel 8 in adaption section of central electrics. Can set from 0 to 255 seconds (LOL -imagine the wiper going once after 4 minutes of using them :D) - I guess setting to 0 disables the feature.

You star! For your next trick, where's my cable

Interesting to see you can activate 'Comfort Wipers' on the fabia...

On the Golf mk4, you have to buy the VW retrofit relay. I did it on my Golf, and it's pants though.

It is a year thing tho, my 2003 fabia cant do half that stuff, wipers included

Sorry, I meant to say Comfort Indicators... I fitted the optional relay that VW do for the Golf - and I must say I hated having comfort indicators.

Interesting to see you can code in the tear wipe thing on the wipers.

Now that would be brilliant... Only bad thing is, if your in Devon like what's listed in your description it's 220 miles each way- just for a blip lol :p

Main one I've not seen mentioned is the rear screen demister time-on length.

Sure I read somewhere that a firmware upgrade for the central electrics control unit could enable the comfort indicators on some models. Could be entirely wrong though.

Main one I've not seen mentioned is the rear screen demister time-on length.

It's not timed on the Mk1, AFAIK. When the switch is on, the demister is on.

edit - I'm actually wrong, the manual says it's 20 minutes and then if you press it again, it comes on permanently. Learn something new every day, although I've never needed one for more than about 90 seconds and then just turn it off myself anyway to save pointless current draw.

Just to put you at ease. The alarm beep on the fabia sounds awful and sounds like one of them DIY cheapy alarms.

Tried it and took it off instantly, to embarrassing.

Heated mirror time length is another one. My alarm beep sounds schweet, no different to any other alarm.

believe me you don't want the alarm beep i had it its annoying very annoying goes off when you open and lock the car

No you can choose when it goes off. Both would be annoying, but I have it for locking only.

Matt

I use the locking only as on my old Leon, it would help me realise if one of the doors wasn't shut (as I'd hear the lock clunk but no chirp). However, it doesn't seem to work so well on the Fabia as I managed to leave my drivers' door ajar the other day so either the Fabia chirps anyway even with a door open or I've just got so used to walking away that I didn't notice.

Unlocking would be annoying and pointless though, so I've never used that.

I must find someone with a vagcom near me :) Most of the other feautures seem to be already 'loaded' onto the car when I got it. The indicator thing is good where you tap it once and it clicks for a few flashes only...

Rather than turn it off, I found a better solution. Was in Costco last night and picked up some Goodyear wiper blades for ~£6.80 each. Totally silent now even on a dry screen, and less than half the price of the last "aero" Valeo set I ordered online. Score!

Anyone around bath that could turn off my alarm bleep now? Quite annoying when trying to be quiet...ha

Hi there I'm new on Briskoda!!!! Just one little question? My skoda doesn't come with full closure through the pad is this possible? and how much would it cost? thank you
