Using X-Box controller ?? on a PC ?? prey tell

Ive got a USB adaptor for a xbox controller... its not great but its analog and is better than the keyboard :D

used bog roll is better than keyboard..... get a wheel

more tomorrow peeps 8pm onwards.... we have the server honed and ready to rumble...

well there you go -- just took part in my first on-line race ever

ColinD and ffelan and NEO_VR what a hoot.

Colin... Heat in tyres=good - too much heat in tyres=going off a lot

will be online tues 8:00 - should be a hoot

thanks to the guys responsible for the server - that was good fun

Do any of you lot have any decent set ups for the Ferrari 360? Damn thing understeers like a Vaux Astra (which for those who don't know suffers from a terminal case of it - at least my Dad's '96 1.6 estate did anyway)

are you on keys?

is fine with a wheel?

remember brake early and in straight line. then turn in early.. then catch theback end.. then accelerate.....:D

That's good advice - if you overcook into a corner the minute you turn the wheel you will see a noticeable drop in grip - usually resulting in a spectacular off

it's less harmfull to be too slow into a corner than too fast - at least you can accelerate a little - if your too fast - your out of control.

I currently use a Logitech Wingman Formula Force wheel - I've just checked the set ups and maybe the horrendous understeer is due to the excessive front rollbar stiffness (140N/mm compared to 10N/mm on the rear) in the default set up

Which NGT / GT cars do you prefer?

I thought i was doing quite well at the last race, altho there was one 2nd gear corner that was off-camber and caught me out almost every time under braking :o

I think ffelan should do a masterclass on car-setup lessons ;)

mr jones... i still suspect you are going in too fast.... i found exactly the same when i first played... especially in GT cars.

reducing front arb should "in theory" reduce understeer... but a a cost of absolute grip...

if you are struggling alot try soft tyres front and medium rears.... but get heat before you push.. remember that spinnign can over heat tyres.. esp if you put foot on gas.

THIS IS NOT A GAME! it is a simulation. it is real. you need a wheel / pedals (which you have!) and it does take practise.. log on and practise.. we all spin.. we all run wide but when it comes together its a great feeling.

I think ffelan should do a masterclass on car-setup lessons ;)

setups make a medium car fast... they dont stop you spinning... i rarely stray too far from the provided setups...

but am happy to help..

will be online from 8 tonight... happy to offer advice or allow a ducks and drakes to follow me round?

;)

Easy to spot the server? I'll be there, with my keyboard - I eschew these fancy driving aids, likes steering wheels and pedals :haha:

buy a wheel cheap ass... you cannot play on kb... its such a waste... a FFW+pedals makes it soooo much more real....

and leaves kb free for brake bias and stuff that helps

I think the other thing I should do is ditch the Elise, it's too slow in a straight line :(

As for the wheel, maybe I will.....

Hmm, looks like I'm out voted :( Better go buy a cheapo wheel :( Then chop the Elise in for something with a bit more grunt - rather fancy a 911 Cup :D Then I need to learn to drive :(

The Logitec MOMO setup look's good.

Overclockers have it in stock for 58 quid plus vat

Sounds like you lot are having some serous fun, I will have to try and get online tonight for a race, how long/ how many laps are you running? Hopefully should be back from work in time...

Tonight I think we'll run a 10-15 min qualify session with 10 lap race, keep it short but frequent. I'll have the server up beofre 8pm with any luck on an open practise session.

Last night we ran a 38 Min race and after 15 mins only Paul and I were left, after a quick gravel trap chin wag we decided to run them shorter.

So will be kicking off at 8pm through to about 11pm, which should give a total of 6 or 7 races with the above schedule.

Server will be called www.briskoda.net or briskoda :) pswd= briskoda

And this will be me, complete with keyboard and no girly driving aids (steering wheel and pedals :D )

:drivesaf:

Looking forward to it - should be a laugh

What aids will be allowed ?

Presumably autobox,traction & ABS - everything else banned ?

Nah, ban the autobox traction and abs :D Allow spin control, cos it's a bugger trying to control a spin with a keyboard :D

I think we should leave everything enabled except steering help and braking help.

Well if we leaveeverything on, Paul can jsut put AI control on.

TBH I'll leave everything on but AI ;) You can take it or leave it then, afterall does skill not win over electronic aids? Therefore for us who need the aids, it will be fair versus those with the skillz. ;)
