Nah, ban the autobox traction and abs :D Allow spin control, cos it's a bugger trying to control a spin with a keyboard :D

You must be good TaviaRS, I would have thought using a keyboard would be a nightmare, have to admit changing from gamepad to wheel made an enormous difference to my gaming experience in GTR, I strongly suggest you hunt down a cheap wheel/ pedal combo on Ebay, I picked up a Logitech Wingman Force Feedback wheel and pedals for under 30 quid, and it works treat (apart from only having four buttons on front of wheel).

Thats the wheel I have...how many buttons do you need?

I still get confused with just four. Have them mapped top left to right then bottm as such.

Clutch, Pit limit, Neutral and Reverse

Don't need to worry about my rear view as I'm always tail end charlie :)

But a wheel does make it more natural and after Paul told me about the look to apex, that improved the experince again, now feel quite happy holding a drift into a corner, where as before I just have no idea where the carwas going, it's odd how a view changes everything...reality or placebo?

Haven't really fiddled with any of the 'look to' and 'world movement' settings, do they make a lot of difference? As for wheel buttons, I hate searching the keyboard for the right key while racing, so I need more wheel buttons so I can have fingertip control of the headlights, look left/right, look behind, clutch, traction control override, pit request, pit limiter, boot release, need i say more? (I lied about the last one btw, can't actually release the boot)...

EDIT: Which Force feedback settings do you use? I heard that using the momo force feedback setting in the controller options menu gives better feedback feeling...

Rob,

 Boot release, had me thinking then is the engine in the front or back, is it a safety feature pre impact ;)

Never thougth about putting TC on the buttons or some of the other items.

Re force settings, I can't recall exactly, but I'll confirm later and try the momo settings, I know initially I had no real feeling, but eventually I did, now I don't know if it's accurate yet though. I'll try the momo settings, afterall one could presume that it's a very similar technology underneath, so there feels like it should hang true. Will try when I get home.

Must say, I do enjoy grappling with the wheel in an often vain attempt to keep the car on the black stuff, the feedback you get through the wheel really adds to the immersive experience, it is so helpful in reading what the car is doing/ about to do whne you can actually feel the tires skidding or finding grip. Would love to have a stick shifter for the gears though, I'm sure that would add yet more to the experience...

Edit: Get yourselves down to www.racesimcentral.com, the forum is excellent for all things racing related, both real and sim-based, loads of stuff concerning GTR inc. setups, skin painting, mods etc.

ok girls we all up for some online action tonight... will be on 8-815 ish... col make sure that servers up and running... oh and adjust the practise / qual sessions... 15 mins max eh?

Just in latest news from tonights on line racing over at the Briskoda GTR server......

The last race held at brno in the czech republic was almost in the bag for ffelan..untill he went and did a button and blew his engine  still he wasnt alone both me & ColinD were having similar problems - must check that radiator

anyone who hasnt tried it should - its lots of fun - yes its very difficult to get fast quickly but thats half the fun - and hey if you happen to have a "Racing Incident" no one will mind - so long as your not going the wrong way of course :drivesaf:

Further to Skodaw, who won, I came second! Woohoo!

Thanks again everyone.

bllody engine... got overheat warning.. should have backed off.. was 20+secs clear... then tried for fastest lap... and bang...

...attention span

:D

How many races did you guys have last night/ who were the winners and losers? Any big incidents? It would be cool if you could get the replay files and upload them, then us offliners could copy them to our player folder and watch them, would this work?

yep, that would work :)

If needed, I'm gonna start a game tonight at about 8:30pm called "Briskoda fun" password: "furby"

Ok,

Mike are you running the dedicated client or clicking host from the lobby?

I was doing the latter as I can't seem to get the dedicated client to be visible in the lobby to anyone.

Thus would reply files be on my machine or users machines who joined the session?

Need to know so I can get rid of my "moments", and so I can see how I did a 1:34 at Donny.

If you host from the lobby, the replay file will be in the GTR/ReplayData folder, but you have to quit the lobby after each race or the previous one gets overwritten. The replay will be named with just the track name, which you can then rename to whatever you want.

I've been playing using the "nose" view, any reason why i can't have it in multiplayer?

Or have i got to learn "cockpit" to join in?

Servers have the option to force players to use the cockpit view in the interests of realism. I'll leave this option off for my server tonight so you can drive your preferred view. IMO as long as you have a rear-view mirror and can drive safely, you canuse whatever view you like :)

Personally, I always use cockpit view in all driving games.

Rear view mirror? Why? I can see perfectly that I've spun again without seeing the sand dust kicking up.

ready & waiting :D

Is Donnington OK for everyone?? Its either that or Barcelona :)

Either fine with me, Richard would like Donno

10 lap races?
