Got me a BEAST!

Featured Replies

That's it, I've taken the plunge and brought a V6 estate. My local dealer had an 11 plate steel grey with 200 miles on for £24999. I test drove a 170CR a few weeks ago, but spec for spec, over 3 years the V6 is cheaper all in  decided this morning, picking it up on Friday. Yay

Hopefully be joining you in 4-6 weeks. Like you, I did the maths, and it made sense. Enjoy and please keep us posted with highs ad lows.

First high: the pedal on the right doesn't feel like its attached to an engine. More like a huge bomb :D

When I drove it earlier, I kept flooring it on a dual carriage way, and the trip computer said fuel economy was 25 MPG. Very impressed with that

Oh Well done, sounds like a right beasty

When I did the same on a 20 min demo here in Oz, it showed 25.7L per 100 kms, which is about 11 mpg, hence I got the diesel, which is doing high 40s-low 50s mpg. I'd still love a V6 for the motor and the 4wd though. Maybe next time, but as I do 100,00kms per year the fuel costs may still make me wait for a 4wd diesel plus a bit of chippery etc.

I really hope the fuel costs don't dampen you're enthusiasm for what is a great car. Keep us posted on the figures if you can, and very happy motoring.

Best of luck,

I'm getting 22MPG at the moment, as i keep putting it in sport mode :giggle: when the dealer was using it, and i test drove it, i was getting nearly 35 on mixed roads

Am I missing something? This is a V6 petrol and you can get 35MPG :o

Once the engine has loosed off, it's not all that bad

You'd be suprised!

So nice,

If you get 35 MPG you surely miss something important: FUN. After 2½ years I get about 22 MPG - and fun.

If MPG is important I think you should look for another engine. If fun and comfort is important this is the engine.

The 36mpg is on a run. Town driving is 21-25 and FUN B)

A word of caution on the wheels - get some decent wax / sealant on them, ALL diamond cut alloys are prone for the dreaded 'white worm' when water gets under the lacquer and corrodes the polished alloy

I've been using auto glym wheel seal. It's in a spray can. Is that good enough???

Cheers

Josh

TBH Josh I tend to apply a couple of good coats of decent wax (FK1000p for me) and then use the spray as a 'top up' the lacquer WILL chip and mark from normal road use, the trick is to seal any marks before any water can get underneath them, sometimes the 'white worm' even appears where there seems to be no surface damage - in this case it should be covered under warranty.

Cheers, I'll buy some wax ASAP

Looks good, but needs lowering. I don't understand why a flagship V6 doesn't come low as standard,

Tbh, i wont be tracking it, and the rides fine now. IMO they chose the V6 for refinement rather than it being a sportier version

Josh

wow that car looks the biz, well done and enjoy it.
