What are the must have vRS accessories?

Featured Replies

With my new Fabia vRS apparently in build, finally, I am starting to get excited and have been scanning through the forum for the must have add ons. I have ordered some Philips Vision bulbs and am considering winter wheels and tyres. Have looked at a remap but want to see what the car is actually like first (also worried about invalidating the warranty).

What have you added which makes a difference?

LEDs for the interior and number plate lights?

Hard drive for your MDI?

Some carpet in the glovebox?

Mats?

Bulbs?

And treat it to some nice wax for winter

Mats and bulbs ordered.

Is the MDI harddrive a dealer supplied option or something easy to get hold of and setup?

Have gone for the paintwork and fabric protection, the joys of two kids.

In my Honda CRV I just use a 30GB pen drive as a hard drive, that way it's easy for me to update it on the PC. Gonna do the same when my vRS comes hopefully at the end of the month

I can help you with the HD!

My furby came with a MDI iPod/iPhone cable which the dealer chucked in for me (car was 6 months old, ex-demo).

I went on eBay the first week I owned it and picked up an MDI-female USB cable for £15 delivered (eBay).

Then it's just a case of getting any USB memory stick or 2.5 inch hard drive and plugging it in. Just make sure you have formatted it with FAT32 first.

I had an empty SATA to USB caddy lying around (similar to this one), as well as a 500GB SATA drive so I now have that in my car and can confirm it works fine

Really impressed with the Swing head unit. I've put like 40GB of music on there so far and it's great! So much better than faffing around with CDs. There's a couple of albums it couldn't play, which were iTunes purchases M4A format, but I just downloaded dbPowerAmp (free software) and re-encoded them to LAME MP3 and now they work fine

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info, really helpful. I take it there is enough space close to the MDI port to store a 2.5 HD.

vRS seatbelt pads from ebay about £ 8 and a nice little add on.

Get a boot liner, £35 if I remember correctly, well worth it!

Yep! Cable can get a bit long though depending on the length, I think I might get myself some of that rubber/foam stuff from Halfrauds and wrap the HD in it because it tends to rattle a bit. Nowhere near as annoying as the rattle coming from my parcel shelf/boot :(

i got wind deflectors , painted side strips and, boot strip protector ,

seagate goflex fits perfectly by the MDI interface :) I have 250 gig of space, with (currently, and growing!) 120gig of music :)

winter tyres.... mine went on recently...

as for the remap... remapped cars are seriously fast, and I have remapped all my recent cars (except this one...) 0-60 in 6 point something seconds? first car I've had that seems fast enough out the box... depends what you are used to I guess....

and everyone moans about the headlights, they seem fine to me, and I drive alot in the dark... I also notice how much more I get dazzled at night by people with "bright white" bulbs :( one of my pet hates, but i guess I'm mostly alone on that thought! the thought is though, not to blind people :(

enjoy your car!

Go faster stripes and spinners

Are you not just noticing Xenon/HID more sharkrider?

I get more dazzled by the people who misuse fog lights. I find them so distracting, and on some cars they are ridiculously overpowered. Don't get me started on idiots who don't know when to use fog lights... :dull:

IMO front fog lights should just be removed from all cars. They serve no safety purpose - if they did, they would be compulsory, like rears. They've just become a fashion accessory with every idiot thinking that if they turn them on, people will notice them and immediately think that their car is better than everyone elses. Grow up.

no, you can tell the difference easily... xenon's are more of a blue colour, you can see the hight adjustment working, and they don't blind you, if anything they are sometimes more angled to the ground... its the brightness you can tell with the aftermarket bulbs..... personally I beleive headlights are made to regs to prevent blinding, and when people increase the brightness they increase the blinding effect...

just my opinion, (My standard vRS headlights are fine!) its not the end of the world, I can live with my annoyance, but sometimes I've been driving along the A66, seen 3 cars approach on full beam, and turn them down to dipped headlights... fine, then the next one on full beam, (Just as bright as previous 3) not turning them down, gave him a flash to let him know I was there, he flashed back! how bright were his standard bulbs?! not all of them are that bad, some are just "whiter" which is fine, like white streetlights compaired to yellow ones, they can illuminate better, but if they increase the brightness, they increase the danger.... (in my opinion)

as far as the mark II vRS goes, my previous car was a grande punto, and previous to that mark I vRS, ect all the headlights seem the same to me, and I can drive dark country roads without any issues at all.

its just my pet dislike.... I wouldnt want to start an argument

a remap and a rear anti roll bar= perfect little hot hatch

its just my pet dislike....

Totally agree!

The reason I asked is that I am seeing more illegally fitted HID kits which are shockingly bright.

I think glare is just more noticeable with reflector lights, opposed to a halogen in a projector.

i also think the headlights arent the best, but their more than adequate.

I'd add tyres and brakes to the list too for when that comes around!

rarb :thumbup::)

This is becoming from accessories to essentials. :giggle:

"Must have" generally does mean essential :p
