Retro fitting heated seats

Featured Replies

I want to order the two heated seat controls for the dash to be made blue in case I ever want to get heated seats but is the wiring there to illuminate them?

I am thinking heating my seats and am wondering the same, I plan to pop the blanks out this week to see if any wiring is there

AFAIK it's not... It's certainly not at the seat end of things..

I doubt the wiring is there. In the short term, I would just take a feed off the power for the ASR switch. I don't imagine a couple more LEDs will affect that circuit. :)

I had the dash middle out recently and can confirm there is no wiring in either there or the seat end for heated seats to be easily retro fitted plug and play style.

No wiring that's for sure..

Would require switches, wiring, control unit (relay mounted under passenger seat) and the four mats in the seats.

It's not a big job, once you find the parts though

I take it there's no easy way to use the Skoda switches for a 3rd party heater kit?

The 3rd party heaters only tend use 2 heat settings anyway, so you'd have to leave the 3rd Skoda setting disconnected.. but that's not the end of the world, could just hook it up to the same pins as heat setting 2 if possible.

You did use to be able to buy retrofit kits for the golf and passat.. not sure if these could be modified?

Here, lookie...

VW Teeside..

Oh the joys of "only" an early spec "Elegance".....the variable settings on the heated seats and electric rear windows.....as standard......mmmmmmmmmmm.......... :p

I'm sure it could be retro fitted....just get the parts no's from ETKA???......will be a faf removing the seat covers then fitting the pads correctly then refitting the covers and smoothing it all down to look nice though! :S

Found this. Maybe can be done at a reasonable cost afterall?

When I was having the seats retrimmed in my 2004vRS the Skoda dealer reckoned the actual seats were different - i.e. it wasn't just a matter of putting pads or elements in. My not be true of course but put me off at the time.

I know, I did it on my estate.

It's just cost if you want to do it properly..

Wire is cheap, make my own wiring harness's so not too expensive

What would you need exactly? Does that wiring kit look like it has everything that's needed bar the switches and the seat side of things?
