I've not had mine on the rollers since I've had the new turbo on so I can't say what it is at the moment, but I'd be guessing around the same as Ross'.

I only followed you briefly around Combe last time out (until I went off-roading :smirk:), but to about 80mph they seemed reasonably even (and as I later found out my turbo turned out to be shagged too when we were out on track). I guess your higher power would see you off at higher speeds though.

Is there a massive difference between yours and Ross' then? I'd be tempted to lose say 10bhp to gain a cleaner map, and I doubt you would lose that much performance. Also you would have peace of mind that your EGT's aren't through the roof with the amount of soot....

From 0-70mph they seem very even, but at higher speeds I gradually edge him. On the same day, I ran 14.3 and he ran 14.6 whilst BossFox ran 13.9 or something. So it seems 40bhp gains you about 300-400ms down a 1/4 mile.

adds to the theory that for every 10bhp extra you gain 0.1secs on a qtr mile*

*clearly subject to various other factors though :)

Yeah, well from what you have said I'd rather lose a few HP and have a cleaner map personally, but we are all after different things!

Ive already done the point tips to the floor. Helps a little but it will still kick up

my other mate had a Cupra mapped by AmD and it smokes bad

Really must be to do with the map, my Fiance has a cupra with an ABT map and its no smokier than a standard FR/VRS [i've no other cupra to measure it against!]

Its 197bhp with 317lb where as my fabia with 169bhp and 297 lbs is substantially smokier.

What sort of map are you currently running? I've a Torque troniqs [i think this is Dave Wishhart?] map on mine since I purchased the car, wouldn't have been my preferred choice, but bar the smoke, i have no issues. Returns good power and decent MPG, i've touched 70mpg on the trip on a 70 mile journey... just.

Might as well add, my fabia has been mapped by the same people as Luke`s, was running 200bhp with no smoke, now running a slightly more powerful map (maybe extra 10-20bhp) and still clean as standard, no smoke at all. I can only concur with luke, every very high powered fabia/ibiza i`v seen has been reasonably smokey, it seem`s as much as its possible to run 220bhp nice and clean once your pushing for 250bhp+ then extra smoke is present.

Without someone running various map`s on the same engine and setup then you cant compare. As for comparing a 197bhp car to lukes for smoke and blaming the map?! After he has just said ross` 201bhp was mapped by the same person doesnt smoke? *face palm*

Back on topic, I like the smooth bumper idea luke, devonutopia has a Exhaust-less vrs bumper I think, looks smart and subtle.

Fit a dpf? Lol it's possiby something underlying, the car still Overheats and has high egts even with the oil cooler so maybe something else to worry about?

Who would be your first choice?

It's not any different, every person I speak to with a Fabia moans about how dirty it gets. I'm convinced even standard vRS' get filthy after a hard drive so I'm gunna try this exhaust trick thing.

You not spoken to me.

I've never seen a PD130 that can keep up with my car that doesn't smoke as much as mine... My mate has a MD376 mapped by Jabba and it smokes bad, my other mate had a Cupra mapped by AmD and it smokes bad, BossFox has his 270bhp vRS and that smokes arguably worse than mine.

Mine does smoke under full power but it stays much cleaner, because my tail pipes stick out noticably more Luke.

Your tail pipes end right on the edge of the bumper and are tucked up into the bumper. Problem with that is more of the soot is drawn into the vortex and sucked onto the back of the car.

Where my exhaust ends about 5cm(ish) from the bumper and is not pushed so hard up to it, more of the soot is fired out of the back rather than drawn into the vortex.

You commented on it yourself at Santa Pod when you couldn't believe how clean mine stayed.

They do say that each 10bhp gives you about 0.1 second at Santa Pod, but some of the difference with mine is the tyres.

On the same rubber I feel the gap would have been smaller as when we ran together some of the lead I had was achieved off the line, despite your slightly faster reaction time.

Ross's car also seems to launch very well. Better than most cars with that power I've seen. If it's not the driver ;) it's probably because it picks up the power so smoothly so has less traction issues.

You may find there is not much difference by losing 10bhp, if it makes the car run cleaner?

True power is shown through terminal speed

i have this problem also had it with my golf if you have the downfacing ones it still covers back of car mate

Gimme your keys and let me take your car for a hack, it will be filthy when it gets back...

Come up and try mine.

After a hard drive mine is clean.

Only time it wasn't, was when i had a boost leak.

Or, just drive a little less like a loon ! :p

I think BossFox has the right idea.

Not only that, you can then have some lovely tale pipes made up to show off.

Who would be your first choice?

Before I joined here and owned my Fabia it would have been Autotune in Ballymena due to the fact they've done alot of my friends cars and I've not heard anything bad comming back regarding them. Thats on both petrol and diesel cars.

After joining here and reading a bit more, I would even have been tempted to take a trip to the mainland to get Shark or Unit18 to look at the car.

But even after saying all of the above, the map thats on my car contents me enough and i've had no issues with it. The guys were helpful when I called them to see what sort of map was on the car, but they didnt have a record of it, and as I had no idea how long ago the map was applied, I couldnt give him this info.

Ideally i'd love the car to be a little less smokey, but sure, who cares, its a 2004 92K skoda I use for getting about, it does ok ;)

Gimme your keys and let me take your car for a hack, it will be filthy when it gets back...

It won't dude did over a thousand mile trip not so long back with a lot of spirited driving with no dirty ass. :)

no smoke from mine either. Never smoked as standard, nor did it smoke with a stage one shark map, and it still does not smoke with a stage two remap on the PD150.

Wanted to go down the GTB2260 route in the spring as i have the other mods to support it (minus clutch so far) and id be willing to bet the amount of smoke would be low on mapping that also.

Going to australia for a year now instead so looks like its staying as it is or getting sold lol

If its any concelation mine is a standard 1.9tdi and I had the standard bumpers and the down swept exhaust on it and it always used to stay clean, now I have a vrs bumper and a mufflerectomey and it gets sutty after just one drive. I know there's a massive difference in power between mine and your but I think the position of the exhaust makes a massive difference :) but I would like to see a side exit :p

Smoke, don't know what you're talking about. This is smokey... :)

Not quite a factory install in the usual chassis... Compound big turbos in a mk2 chassis....
