FMIC Kit - Group Buy - £200 Delivered

Featured Replies

a big improvement will also be you get rid of most of the problem clip joints too. I know some remain but this will be a big improvement. The standard sidemounts are known to fail, have plastic end tanks so don't take a lot of high pressure abuse and tbh are in a pretty pants place when it comes to the summer months. Also recovery times from high temps are very slow due to their location. Dont forget when at a standstill a front mounted intercooler will see some air drawn through when the fans activate.

A standard replacement side mount cooler is pretty much the same price as this whole FMIC kit.

A good example of "bigger isnt always better" in the world of intercoolers is the ford sierra cosworth. They run a much smaller intercooler than the one for sale we are all discussing and are able to run 300bhp without issues and perfectly safe inlet temps. A friend of mine has one running 300+ on the standard smaller 2wd intercooler for many years without problems and as you know petrol engines are much more sensitive to higher intake temps than diesels.

Id say this intercooler will fulfill 95% of people on this forum's requirements with ease. If i can wrangle one with the seller for £200 I will do a fitment guide and before and after logs for everybody to see the improvements. If it isnt as good as I seem to think it will be I will eat my own hat.

Interesting, Where in cambs are you as well

  • It shouldn't really make a massive diff will it?

  • If you go on there ebay listing it has a landline number to call. It took a few goes as they are busy but got through in the end!

fitted mine on the weekend and i took some photos http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/239134-tx-autosport-intercooler-work-now-complete/ take a look. some have had no issues but i had to make some b

March :) just down the road from you if your in wisbech?

Diesels run far higher psi from the turbo's than petrols

My olf fabia ran 30psi iirc

my cossie ran 28 peak, wouldnt call 2psi far higher ;)

Can wait for someone to get this and back up all the theory. As it stands its just another cheap ebay cooler, but if its as good as you say it is i`ll replace my current fmic with it, i`ll save weight, space and it`ll run more power! win win. . .

Yup :hi:

What you currently running?

my cossie ran 28 peak, wouldnt call 2psi far higher ;)

Yeah but at 30 i was nly running low 200's

pressure isnt really what we are worried about here anyway an intercooler like this will EASILY deal with that pressure its more the heat generated from the pressure and the intercoolers ability to cool it.

So what about this tells you it can deal with that?

I'm intrigued as intercoolers are not something I know much about. There is obviously poor ones and good ones, but Im not sure I would know how to tell the difference.

In all honesty an intercooler cant really be "poor" as long as its not **** thin, small and doesnt leak they are normally fine. Coming from a world of jap stuff where ebay special cheapie intercoolers are the norm and they have no problem running big power with them. Im waiting on exact dimensions from the seller on ebay but looking at the images it looks a good thickness and decent width so shouldnt have any problem.

So people in the know, why is the super long pipework not a problem for 'lag'?

This is what is putting my off the most about non twin-pass FMIC's

  • Author

I have emailed them for an updated group buy price :) and suggested £200 so i will wait for their reply

twin pass intercoolers aren't that good actually. a single pass intercooler is much better, less pumping losses its much harder to push the air through the intercooler twice than it is just across the core once. The air in a twin pass actually has further to travel and needs to be pushed harder to travel the distance than this smaller cooler with slightly longer pipework. End tank design is also very important and this intercooler has very nicely designed smooth flowing end tanks from what you can see in the pictures

OK just had a reply we can have them for £200 as long as 15 people buy. So come on folks get your names down!

Tiz would you mind joing the group buy for your to bump the numbers up? cheers

How strange. Iv know people to have coolers bigger than this and struggle with xxx bhp, then go for a uprated one to run more power. So there isn't any need for uprated coolers on many cars as long as its front mounted they should all be as good as each other?

yeah im still down to be in the group buy matey. I was just going to try and jump the gun to try and prove to people these will be fine to use. But don't really know why im fighting for the cause so much. Its a complete bolt on intercooler kit for £200 its an absolute bargain in a world of over priced seat sport coolers and forge coolers.

I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=53.014290,-2.283930

Just got the intercooler dimensions from the seller:

690mm Wide

160mm High

65mm Thick

57mm pipe outlets.

Sticking with the sierra cosworth 4x4(which is an upgrade for the 2wd) intercooler i used earlier the dimensions for this are:

465mm Wide

122mm High

110mm Wide

If you assumed they are just large boxes and work out the volumes they both actually work out to 6.24 cubic meters of volume and as said before the cossie cooler can handle 300+hp no problems.

That gives me more than enough confidence to buy this intercooler
