So many dif size coolers on Ebay for under 100 pounds, just need someone with a bit of time and a technical head to find and route the pipework

  • It shouldn't really make a massive diff will it?

  • If you go on there ebay listing it has a landline number to call. It took a few goes as they are busy but got through in the end!

fitted mine on the weekend and i took some photos http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/239134-tx-autosport-intercooler-work-now-complete/ take a look. some have had no issues but i had to make some b

I'm by no means an expert and this is purely my opinion. Forge must spend thousands on research and development to create a kit specific for a particular model. What has this eBay seller done?

I agree the forge is expensive but it is proven.

I like the idea of a low cost cooler but is this really the way to go?

If anyone is willing to get their car to me, I will happily spend the time devising a kit that will fit correctly utilising the universal coolers that can be found... PM me if interested

I from the Jap scene so cant comment on forge's Intercoolers in other marques but they are like most companies who produce intercoolers. They get the biggest core into the sallest space with the least hassle. Email them and ask them for any information regarding cooling capabilities of their coolers. They wont have any ;)

Bigger is by no means better when it comes to intercoolers.

Hmmmm, this might interest some on this thread. http://www.corsa-c.c...progress-thread Makes me think it might be easier to whip up our own kits, Just need to figure out fitting the Map sensor.

Don't get put off with the corsa it is about a fabia lol

You can buy the map sensor housing. Would just need welding.

If I ever need a better intercooler then I'd make my own. I'd find it more rewarding. Rally designs web site seems well priced for the pipe work.

That map sensor pipe was mine im certain!! Didnt require it!

Small world

Forge do a pipe with the MAF housing installed in 60m and 63mm. Maybe they'd do one in a smaller diameter if asked? Apparently they can be quite flexible...

In the past, Forge wouldn't sell the map sensor pipe separately from their complete hose kits....

I think the Corsa link thread got a little over looked.

I had a quick look through and the piping route does look a lot better than running right under the car, hugging the sump.

Here's some pictures from the thread, as you can see he goes for a 180 degree bend straight behind the FMIC:

I reckon this is the best method (except with the FMIC mounted further back so it's more hidden).

Sorry to hijack, I know this technically isn't relevant to the mentioned kit. But is good food for thought.

This all gone to **** now?

There must be some intercoolers out there for the vrs that dont cost ££££s

What are you gonna do any different really than what the eBay seller has already done. Plus you can get the full kit for a small amount more

Me?? Im not going to do anything. But the cooler on forge is going to be hell of alot better than the one the ebay seller is using!

If i did have the time, space, knowledge id make my own pipe work and make sure it fits, as the Ebay one simply doesnt

the forge ones advertised there actually wont be any better and those end tanks look terrible! Ive given up with this and im going to attempt to graft my skyline GTR intercooler onto my ibiza. I datalogged the original yesterday. Only 6 degrees outside and I was seeing intake temps up to 106 degrees with the standard sidemount!

You keep saying about the end tanks, but the top left forge one and eBay one look near identical?

really? Those jagged end tanks made from flat sheet looks the same as a single piece smooth end tank?

:rol: I though as long as they were metal it was all good?

Im sorry matt but why have you had to post again on a group buy you arent involved in? you are just looking for confrontation. No need for it on this thread at all.

I`m confused, one minute as long as the end tanks were metal it was fine, the next one type made by forge is poor and another by an ebay seller is good, even though they look identical as Wilsy pointed out.

What is it that would qualify me to be involved in this group buy? As I said, if it gives gains i`d be interested in one, it`ll save me weight at the heaviest part of the car. I`m just a bit less taken in by the rule of "because the ebay ad says something it must be true" so I like to ask questions before spending any money been burnt on ebay before now.

There are other people on here also asking questions about it, why are they allowed to do so but not me? And lastly, I didnt have to post, I choose to, as do you and everyone else on the forum

I'm really amazed 2 people think those end tanks look the same. The ebay one shows a single cast piece and the forge tank shows flat angled end tanks is it really that hard to tell the difference between those 2 seriously? I dont think at any point did anybody say "as long as they are metal thats all that matters"

It just needs someone with time to measure everything up and have half a brain to design a reasonable route for the pipework. The problem is, most people on here have the fabia as their only car, so lack the time needed to do it. If there is no difference between coolers quality then you might as well get the cheapest one on ebay that suites the space.
