Doesnt take a genius to realise it was a fitter issue.

One looks a complete hash up and one fits rather nicely

Hasn't put me off at all I am more than capable of fitting this kit correctly and like the one above. The second kit fitted hasnt been done to the same standards and as Tiz pointed out the second chap has had different pipe work.

I'd just love to know if the undertray goes back on?

It does as confirmed by the first guy who had the kit fitted.

My personal feeling on the kit is that it was terrible and i'll probs be taking it off soon and selling it on as it just doesn't seem like anything special.

The welding on the IC itself seems pretty cheap...

I was provided with the incorrect piping to start off with...

Still yet to be able to talk to the seller about the issues... (no reply on methods used so far)

The only reason that guys pipework is higer than the first is because it's cable tied up higher... Look at all the pictures

Its a dodgy kit good fitment or bad fitment...

its fitted completely different to yours meaning all the pipework is angled differently.... Do you really think a rad hose has the strength to pull piping up with cable ties? They dont look like they are doing anything important to me just making sure its secured nicely.

Do you have any logs or proper reasons for assuming its a bad kit? I had to sound arrogant but so far the only issue I can see is with the way you have fitted it(incorrectly)

I offer a real oppinion of the kit and all you can do is fixate yourself on the kit because it's what you want.

The issues I have with the kit were... and I seem to have to repeat myself because clearly it doesn't seem to become apparent.

Kit shipped with incorrect pipework initially...

Seller non responsive to contact...

Intercooler quality pretty low quality in comparison to other kit's i've used on different cars in the past...

The fact cable ties are required in the build fitted correctly or "incorrectly" as you put it when i've already justified the positioning further forward of the kit (before you start again)...

I think i'm going to leave it at that as all i'm doing at the end of the day is suggesting, heavan forbid, this is a bad kit and there are better out there probs for similar money.

The kits nothing special, take this from a kit owner.

However I can't deny the fact it works fine fitted to the car and performance is virtually unchanged (i.e. turbo lag does not seem affected noticably)

Interms of temperatures unfortunately i've not had a chance to VCDS it as of yet.

Just my thoughts... I'm not here to cause a scene I would just hate to see 15 people disappointed all because I kept my mouth shut.

find another "bolt on" kit for the same money then? The only other option is the forge kit or seat sport which are 3 times the price of this. I genuinely think a little bit better ingenuity would of seen it done better

Carl, I'm greatful you posted your findings.

Looking on eBay, the intercooler can be had for £70. That'll leave £160 for piping. I'd be more tempted to sort the piping yourself. That way you can design it yourself.

For the price you get what you pay for...

I'd be interested in the VCDS logs if anyone can.

The only trouble with that is most people want a "weekend job" especially if the car is daily driven. Making your own pipework fit isn't that easy really and it still leaves you trying to get the map sensor in somewhere. I was going to use one of these and make it fit :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-UNIVERSAL-FRONT-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER-KIT-VW-SEAT-SKODA-AUDI-GTI-20V-TURBO-TDI-/350493914117?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519b10b405#ht_1141wt_1185

But in 2.5" form the end tanks look pretty terrible and double the flow is distributed very evenly inside.

It just need some fixings welded to the pipe work so you can bolt it to the engine somewhere on the bottom.

I cant see any thing making it a nice and solid fitment from the cooler to the turbo, After 0000's of miles of driving surly there is going to be a weak point in there somewhere.

count me out guys :(

trouble is the pipes will be aluminium requiring a tig welder and quite some skill, if they was mild or stainless id have no problem making something up with the trusty mig just dont have 1000's worth of tig setup to do it with at home.

It's not quite plug and play. Though I'd expect some fabrication and manipulation (cutting/bending) I can sympathise to some degree with the 2nd guy. His kit didn't seem to contain all of the right parts.

Hi guys.

I helped fit the kit and the most annoying/worrying thing about the kit was the way you had to mod the standard pipework to accomodate the new front mount. You have to cut two of the standard intercooler pipes so once you have fitted the kit you are stuck with it unless you buy some new standard pipes. Some slightly bigger silicone hoses would have quite easily and safely fitted over the standard pipes but i guess that would add more to the cost.

I've fitted plenty of FMIC kits in my time and those 2 wrong sized hoses where a pain so had to steal some hose off one of my project cars to get it going (hence why there is a black piece in some of the photo's) Didnt like the lenghty pipe running the back and the only option was to cable tie it on.

The only bonus was the pipe to fit the map sensor although its in the most awkward place to get to should it have a fault.

As to mounting it too far forward? well that was so it looked cool. You get what you pay for but that seatsport kit i have seen i dont like the look of much as intercoolers with the inlet and oulet on the same side never seem to perform as well as others and that forge one...£600 for a front mount kit?!?! you lot are crazy.

Your better off putting your own kit together. Sorry

Someone on here should put a kit together and sell it to forum members

A-men!

I was thinking, is there any room under the intercooler? because you could use the bolt holes underneath and mount some string clips and run the pipe work under.

Alternativley changing the short bit of tube (from the cooler to under the engine) to a 45 elbow so you could tuck the silicone elbow up a bit better...

Limited room under. The original Forge kit does it but mounts the cooler higher.

IMO running the pipe behind the bottom of the rad is a reasonable idea. The details of the installation and cost being limiting factors.

Regarding the pipework mods, Forge sell alloy connectors to connect silicone to existing pipes. Is it worth the extra £60?

Exactly, I know I wanted some alloy welded one of my cars years ago, no garage wanted to do it.

This kit needs some sot of fixings along that lenght, the silicon joints I think will later split, Not straight away I know but in time. The Intercooler I think is ok and id be happy with that but it just needs better piping.

Needs a 180 degree bend coming off the hotside of the cooler instead of a 90, some pipe then another 90. Then you could have some brackets screwed into the bottom of the cooler to cradle the pipe running behind it. Or something to that effect.

The cooler we have consisted of alot of welding. The kit just felt like it was still in a bit of a trial phase.

Would help if the turbo and throttle body weren't on the same side of the car. Whos brilliant idea was that?!?

To be fair this kit is listed for the seat.

Sent from my mums bed using Tapatalk.

Personaly i think this kit looks a bodge. The way the pipework has to run looks a mess wether its cable tied up or not. I wouldnt be happy with it. I prefer more oem looking and a nice neat tidy installation, which this is not. I dont think anyone is to blame for poor installaion, it just looks like its not suitable for the car. It might be cheap and good, but id rather put my £200 towards something better and wait. Whats the saying.....buy cheap...buy twice? The forge and seat ones are tried and tested and look like they were meant to be there where this looks like something you'd buy from ripspeed or some other chav mod shop. At the end of the day your money is your own and how you spend it is upto you. P.s. this is only my opinion, i was never joining the group buy, this is just an outside view. :)

I wonder if the seller would be preapred to re-design the kit in light of some of the comments on here and the amount of people interested.

I have been seriously considering this kit, but not anymore. Bring on a re-design!

Guys,

I have fitted numerous kits to the Fabia VRS and they have all been better than this kit! A guy came to me 3 weeks ago asking me to fit it and as per VRS_Carl states, the welding really is substandard and the pipework is shocking, best thing for you to do on a budget is buy a universal intercooler from ebay to the size you want, then buy up the pipes from a company called rally designs, they do mail order and are good prices, they have everything you will need.

All I can say is unless you want something that will just make your car look ok through the grill then go for it! but for longetivity and performance then avoid it! Spend your money elsewhere!

Glad it wasnt just one buyer sharing his experiences.
