Should be ok.

Freesat receiver with 1m dish and rotator. Can pick up almost any FTA satellite program. German and Italian tv usually show sport stuff FTA so just listen to radio for commentary (and I hadnt even thought of that!) or learn a foreign language.... :D

Also Freeview where we are in Northampton is carp and still is after recent retune and signal boost. How on earth can they expect HD to work on such a flaky system.

Totally refuse sky and others as I don't agree to pay my TV licence fee twice.

Give it a couple of years and you'll be paying extra for every type of sport you want. What with there being an F1 channel, I expect it to be an extra pay option, if not this year then soon.

Remember though there was an F1 PPV channel and it bombed. Unlike footie folk, petrol heads can live with highlights or reading about it on the net.

To be honest, I often work on a Sunday and so have to watch the F1 race when I get home at night. Also as I always work on Saturdays, I am usually too tired to get up at silly o'clock in the morning to watch an Asian race, so once again I watch a deferred recoding. So as far as I can see, watching a race cut down from 90 minutes to 60 minutes as a highlight package is not such a great loss, especially as most races have quite a bit of 'follow the leader' driving.

Another thing to consider is Bernie says we are only going to get 5 European races in the near future, so many races will on at times that I can't see live anyway. My conclusion is the BBC deal is a step backwards, but not such a huge one as I first feared. The only caveat to all this is Martin Brundle has defected emoticon-0106-crying.gif I suspect there are many other peeps on Brisky that if they were totally honest and not just railing against the BBC move, would admit that it isn't the end of the world as they probably don't get up a 5 in the morning to watch ever early start. Naturally I expect a few peeps to now come on and say they do, but talking to many petrol heads I know, they don't all get up for every Asian race (and yes they are real petrol heads with many supporting motorsport with live spectating)

Would rather rip the telly out first than give any money to Sky.

I guess now wouldn't be a good time to tell you that you already do :D Every time you buy an item from a business or holding agent, that advertises on SKY (newspaper, telly, dog food etc), you pay a small premium that goes to the advertising budget of that company and then to SKY. According to figures I last saw many years ago, you probably already pay as much as your telly licence to SKY alone and I can't see that amount will have decreased,

As above and I work long hours split shifts or like now straight through so start 10.30 am finish 11.30 pm, get home around 12 having cycled the 5 miles back home, cannot afford to run my car every day. So I am not prepared to give sky a huge amount of dosh to watch F1, I always work on a Sat, but mostly have Sundays off, I go to bed at 2am, but always get up for the early races, highlights are not the same you do not get the flow of a race. I never watch highlights or the rerun, unless I have to work, and by watching a night race then it gives me more time to spend with my wife

If it free on HD Alan...I have HD

It's not free - you just don't pay extra for it.

Yes Gill would just love it if I turn up at 5am for quali and 6 am for the race at your house for the Australian gp
