Not much of an update but she has had her weekly bath and also removed the wind deflectors for now and added a sticker for a friends website

  • Glad you got the dash sorted in the end mate Car looks great

thanks for that VRS-Powered , been waiting to see the TMC on the rollers....

and I agree, an intercooler mod should help

*wonders how much overtime he needs for the TMC......

Its worth it... Got mines today :| Cars quick.....

Haha bit of a difference eh mate ;)

Just a tad

Not had a good chance to really test it out as the roads are a greasy today but its certainly got a lot more balls to it.

Thanks Rocky, trust me you will love your vRS, I still find any excuse to take mine out for a spin!!

Not sure where to go next with it to be honest, opinions welcome

You thought about having it lowered mate. Just done mine with the H&R's and I'm well impressed, looks a lot better and handles better too, yours would suit I think looking at the pic above.

Excellent results on the rollers, I've still got my box on 6 might go up to 7 when I get the summer tyres back on and its a bit warmer. I find I can spin the wheels in 3rd with a damp surface and my little 185 tyres on, so no point going to 7 yet. Did you notice much difference between 6 and 7 though?

  • Author

Yeah lowering is on the cards and think I will go with the H&R springs also

To be honest I never really ran mine on 6 (maybe a few days), 7 feels well rounded in terms of power and economy to me, 8 feels a lot harder on acceleration

I'll have to have a mess about, see which feels right. Cheers

Setting 8 also seemed to eat petrol a bit more than setting 7, might give it a go at Pod next time

Forgot to add this from a few weeks back!

Went up to Pod for Saturday Night special RWYB, was good fun and managed to better my time :)

20120310_211609.jpg

Best time was 14.476 @ 96.72 MPH, very happy with the power although I'd love to go down the Hybrid route......I need to win the lotto!

Your 60' times show your launches are much better than mine. That last test day I did iirc my best launch was 2.76 but mostly around 2.8-2.9. The issue with hybrid is now im wheelspinng all the way through 1,2,3rd so i need more chassis/drivetrain work to transmit it to the tarmac. Traction was bad although that's my tyres being on their last few miles just exasperate the issue. my terminals were 103-104mph though so once rolling I was OK.

Ill move you up the list tonight.

Cheers Sy, once you get the traction problems sorted you should be seeing a much better time!

Yesterday this turned up.

All pictures are with the rear seats out, the springs should settle a little more and the rear should lower a little more when I put the seats back in. I am very happy with it now, handles sooooo much better!

it will settle substantially... I've seen (and driven) jonnyboys with these springs, and it looks much lower than that (especially at the back) but then you said you had no rear seats in...

They'll be back in tomorrow so hopefully by next weekend it will look lower :)

Spent the day at Santa Pod today for "The Fast Show" (I say the day but we didn't get in until 10:30 due to the sheer amount of cars!). I don't think I have ever seen Santa Pod that busy, so many people and cars!

Decided to run the 1/4 mile but the sign on office was closed until 12:30, not to worry, I'll pop back there at 12:25, that was a mistake! Had a look around the show, watched some 1/4 mile action (think I watched Hurdy!) and was walking near the sign on office at 12 noon and spotted an ever growing queue! Decided we needed to get in the queue if we were going to be able to get some track time. After a 20 minute wait the office opened and we were signed up and ready to go! Wasn't able to use my street challenge ID for this event so I ran B622 (B = FWD Charged).

First Race : Against a Pug 205 GTI that was stripped. Decided to turn the TC off for the first time since having the car and so glad I did. Managed to pip him to the line. He didn't seem too happy though, tried to muscle his way over my side after the finish line and spun up into a very large crowd, not impressed!!!

Second Race : Against an MR2 Turbo, he crossed the finish line first but my time was better :) had the TC on.

Third Race : Against an S14 200SX or whatever they are called! Managed to beat the guy as he couldn't get off the line. Spoke to him after and he said he couldn't get traction as he had set it up for drift. TC OFF.

Last Race : Against a Civic Type R. Was actually looking forward to it as I thought it would be close as the power is very close but I blitzed him. TC OFF.

Very very happy with how the car performed today, my first run got me a new personnel best, 14.32 @ 96.52 MPH.

Impressive. What weight is your car?

The Fabia mkII with the DSG is quite nippy without much spent on it.
