Not much of an update but she has had her weekly bath and also removed the wind deflectors for now and added a sticker for a friends website

  • Glad you got the dash sorted in the end mate Car looks great

Yeah I believe it was 4th

Ah, I thought it was in 5th.

For a mildly modified car it goes very well and the launch is good, not sure how much time you'd get back using 888s.

Probably just a few tenths.

If we meet up some time at Santa Pod we could do some data logging with my Vbox if you fancy it.

A bit of tyre swapping and you could see exactly the difference they'd make to the launch.

Wow that would be amazing mate, thank you for the offer :)

I reckon with the time saved on the 60ft by getting traction will make all the difference. The guy who is leading the 1/4 mile leaderboard with a 13.4 had a 60Ft yime of 2.09seconds.

That said the slips above say a 60ft of 2.21seconds, which in all honesty is very respectable. Id be a happy man if i can manage that when i go next.

I'd want to miss any big events due to minimal number of runs and long queues, but a regular RWYB day (like the 14th April) should be fine.

It would be interesting to log the same car with regular tyres and 888s on the same day.

Particularly as your times are very consistant.

Would also help you decide wether it's worth the money too, added bonus. :D

1/4 mile times a side, What have you been up to VRS Powered!?!?!

I totally agree, RWYB would be so much better :) Thanks for the really kind offer, let me know when you are definitely going to Pod and I'll see if I can make it also :)

It looks like a foreign vRS due to the dodgy wheels - Russia maybe :)

I also managed to find another race blue vRS with standard suspension. I think mine sits perfectly compared to standard. (Cameraphone)

The front of yours look a hell of a low compared to mine mate, although it could just be the angle :)

I prefer his blue roof!

Spent the day at Pod again today, weather turned out to be good, if not a little warmer than expected!

I ran the car the same as two weeks ago but made minor adjustments during the day. I dropped the pressure of the front tyres and tried setting 8 on the tuning box. Unfortunately running the higher setting without giving it time to bed in cut the power the turbo was giving me so I dropped it back to 7. I managed to get 18 runs in today, the best being 14.18 @ 98.39MPH

I also downloaded the Live Timing app for my phone which connects to the Santa Pod system and reads all the data they see :). Now I don't need to get my timing slip after every run!

Got some great comments from people that couldn't believe how quick the car was which was nice. The car is now running at a constant 14.2-14.3 1/4 mile at this level of tune. If I'm honest I'm not sure if, without further mods and/or semi slicks that the car will drop blow 14s. Ill be starting a saving fund to go Stage 2 for next years street challenge as I believe a 13.7-13.8 time will be achievable.

Out of intrest....wtf was in the right lane? 12.8 is pretty quick

I'm sure that's not your best 60ft time either.

I'm thinking semi slicks would get you under 14 seconds.

How did you get a 0.26 reaction time, did you go on the yellow as I know it doesn't stay lit very long.?

The thing is 14.1 is quicker than a standard 2.5T Focus RS can manage and the same as Golf R.

HOw are you doing stage 2? Is it remap or are you just going to stick the TBE on with the TMC box?

  • Author

Stage 2 would be Supersprint/Miltek TBE and Revo map, I won't stick with the box for Stage 2. If more money frees up ill go for a set of semi slicks and IC.
