Cheers bud, exhaust will be done sometime :)

Impressive. What weight is your car?

The Fabia mkII with the DSG is quite nippy without much spent on it.

Thanks :) the weight is 1243 kg as standard

Well if that's with all the seats etc.. it is good. :D

Are you going to the GTI bash at Santa Pod in April?

The rear bench seats were out, I did take a passenger on all the runs.

I really want to, hopeful :)

im going to be picking up some maxsport 205/50/15 semi slick rb5's and light weight alloys for the strip.

im thinking team dynamics?

cracking times though! start saving for the intercooler now eh? aha!

I do believe lighter wheels and semi slicks will better the time no end, maybe 14.0s or even under.

I do want some but so expensive

well if you get light wheels for the front with tyres it wont be as bad i guess. you only really need them on the drivd wheels for the 1/4 mile so ive read. different story on the track mind you.

maxsport rb5s will be about 150 for two and whatever the wheels are... betger than toyos r888s which are like 2x as much

Had never thought of it like that, thought it would be best to get all 4 running on semi slicks.

You've got me thinking........... :giggle:

haha!

its what im going to do tbh. semi slicks on the front with light wheels and have the rear street ones pumped up to maximum pressure to reduce rolling resistance. i cant afford a full set atm so doing it in stages.

its the last big thing that can be done for "cheap" as stage 2 needs a few costly bolt ons as does the new turbo... would love to have that!!!

As for a proper track day its strongly advised to have all 4 semi slicks from people on forums etc but i doubt id ever track the car.

My fronts are nearly worn and im thinking about going down the semi slicks on the front route for better traction so il let you know if that makes any diffrence to running "normal" tires all round(iv got pirelli pnero zeros just now)

It does make a difference.I run Toyo 888s on my mkI Fabia and the launch is improved.

I estimate a time reduction of about 0.2-0.3 seconds on the quarter mile.

only downside with us is the dsg doesnt let you do a wee burnout to heat the rubber up.

Maybe not, but I don't do burnouts anyway as I have to pay for the tyres.

Plus I have to conend with manual gear changes while your Fabia flicks up a gear in the blink of an eye!

I think they call it "point and shoot". :D

Good for consistant times. Very accessible performance with a self shifter.

Is that just the fronts mate or all 4 wheels?

All four as I only run 888s on my car all the time. They are my road tyres too.

Bit only having the fronts on would have the same effect.

Just gives you a little more grip on launch.

Not sure how much of an issue wheelspin is on yours, but on mine it's quite an issue. Normal tyres spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Just not an option.

Cheers for the advice mate, defintiely something to think about :)

Might have to buy this picture from Sunday :giggle:

Buy it!!!! Guy at my work is looking at buying one of those jap craps and id love to show him that :D

The guy at Santa Pod does take a good photo (obviously, it's his business :) ).

When I went it just seemed far easier to get a load of images on a CD for a set fee as the single pictures were not cheap.

But then I did about 7 or 8 runs, so had quite a selection. Me beating a TVR Tuscan was my fave. :)

Spent another day at Santa Pod yesterday (31/03/12) as they were hosting RWYB. Was supposed to wake up by 7:30 to get ready and prepped to leave by 8:30 at the latest..........ended up waking up at 8:45! Managed to get the rear seats out and the car prepped by 9:10 and we set off to the Pod. The weather forecast wasn't great, light showers with dark cloud supposably all day. I had also filled the car up with Momentum99 (first try with this stuff) fuel which meant the car was running heavier than usual for my runs up the 1/4 mile.

Anyway........we got there at 10:30, it was spitting with rain a little so we didn't hold out much hope for many runs.....oh how wrong could we be! Soon enough we had signed on and were sitting on the grid awaiting the first run. After a while I got to race up the 1/4 mile, then again and again, in fact I managed to get in 16 runs in total!

I managed to get a new PB for the car which was :

14.12 @ 96.88 MPH - I was up against a Mini Cooper S, video below :

I also managed to beat a Focus RS :D

Spoke to a few people there, one guy with a silver MK1 Fabia vRS running 14.3 which was mighty impressive for a diesel vRS (are you on here?)! Also saw a Octavia vRS and a Superb estate but never got chance to talk to them.

All in all I had a fantastic day, managed to get a PB and got a lot of positive comments on the car :) now all I have to do is try to resist the urge to buy the 888 Semi Slicks so I can pop under 14s!

Great vids!

Nice :)

Did a good job beating the Navara! They are really quick

Some people take odd cars to these events!

Is that a BMW 3 series in the last video?

 yeah the Navara's are like turd off a shovel!!

Car was a 1M I believe, if not a M then a quick version, had huge brakes

What gear are you in when you cross the line?

I know the petrol DSG is a 7 speed, but there seems to be a lot of changing going on in the first part of the run.
