Free. Do it yourself and a heat gun to take the door mouldings off. Or replace them with the more discrete golf mk4 mouldings like I did

Plastic primer then solvent based corrida red over the top, no worries. Will last for ever. No need to laquer neither with solvent based as corrida red is a solid colour, but you could if you wanted to incase your shine wasn't good enough.

On the rubbing strips, sure I've seen a few stories of paint underneath being damaged, no matter how carefully the strips were removed. Colour coded door handles would last as long as OEM ones so long as the job is done well. It's mostly in the preparation
