Indoor TV Aerial

Featured Replies

Not wishing to scale the roof in the icy gales, and being too tight to pay someone else as it's a rented property.....

we decided last night we could do with an indoor aerial for the TV in the boudoir - there's a certain appeal with curling up in bed with the telly on a cold evening/morning....

Tried a "one for all flat panel amplified aerial" and it's marginally better than a chocolate teapot.

Is there anyone on here with experience of a really strong, reliable indoor aerial?

Or what about those wireless tv sender things? could we plug one of those on the back of the dvd/freeview receiver and do it that way?

East Riding is a notoriously poor area for reception, but I bought an indoor aerial from Wilkos for about a fiver, might have been ten?

I find that a huge factor in how well they work is getting them away from other sources of interference, like the TV itself. I know it looks fugly but I've just hung my lad's aerial from a hook near the top of his wardrobe. Noticeable improvement compared to when it was next to the TV. Some channels used to pixellate and pause, not any more.

Where is your aerial mounted?

Used to have one of those wireless TV senders, worked just fine in my small house at the time. I have Sky now with aerial distributor in the loft now so can pick it up from all of the aerial sockets (not exactly HD quality but perfectly watchable).

tried it in various positions across the window - it's a big 4 metre bay window.

moving into the room, it just stops completely.

For years we had a standard outdoor Analogue arial in the loft, bolted to an old coffee table! :D

It worked well, but you stabbed yourself on it everytime going up in the loft, plus it would depend on your location etc etc

For my HGV I bought a Boat Ariel off e bay it is directional and comes with a booster. It is a great bit of kit, I did bring it home and tried it up stairs as we only have a dish. All i can say it is definatly coming home now for the freeview.

Do you have a link to that make/model?

I've had a quick scan off ebay and came across a necvox that the seller claims is 90dbi gain.......

everything else just appears to be standard gain (20db) and then amplified, which doesn't seem all that different from the flat aerial I've got here claiming 40db when amplified.......
