Astra VXR

Featured Replies

19K GBS, 237bhp 0-60mph 6.1secs...looks the dogs danglies.

Pity the interior doesn't look as good as the exterior.

New Octy RS has it's work cut out.

Agreed, the new VXR range is going to be fantastic!

Oddly enough I have an Astra brochure lying around somewhere ( and possibly a Mondeo one as well :o )

:wrthless:

Yeh but its still a vauxhall :thumbdwn: and how much will it cost ? more than the new vrs i can guess (but if anyones giving away a monaro i'll take it of your hands):D

I quite like the Astra.........am I weird

I like it as well.....like the new Focus ST as well.

VXR looks to have the advantage...cheaper than both Golf GTI and Focus.

Suspension sorted by Lotus.

i like both, think that astra is slightly better looking

oh that looks really cool,

bye skoda.......maybe;)

Vauxhall...Ashtray... Resale ?

The plastic Chelsmford' date=' Essex boy in me lurves the new Focus ST though :)

It was exactly these feelings two years ago that made me suddenly stand back and say...

Hang on... There's a Skoda that's better looking, equally as quick, raved about by EVO magazine and is far more practical.... hang on ... no brainer...

I'll have a look at the Skoda :)

aren't we nearly there again ?

cuckoo

That vxr astra made my eyes light up. Vauxhall have done good here I think.

BUT IT'S A VAUXHALL!

Vauxhall

Funny that as Skoda owners we kind of look down on Vauxhalls.

Like I say it's another option the new Octy RS has to compete with na dif Skoda get their sums rights and give us the spec we want, then I see no need to swap brands....but....if they make it

i too find it funny how people here can laugh at vauxhalls, skoda's maybe be 'good' and 'worth it' now but look back a few years, i still get people who actually laugh out loud now when i say i drive a skoda.

I developed my opinion of Vauxhall based on an R reg diesel Astra that I had to drive at work. Not good.

It steered like a tanker adrift on the ocean wave, the pedals were offset which gave you crippling back pain, the electrics worked (for about 5 minutes after the car left the dealership) and the drivers seat had the annoying tendency to break free from it's moorings, causing 'abstract' driving movements as you clung on to the steering wheel for dear life.

I've also had the dubious pleasure of driving a Vectra which was, on the whole, thouroughly ****.

I had an R-reg Astra 1.4 prior to the Octavia...never let me down, and at 84k miles the only problem was a dodgy earth which caused the right hand indicator to blink too fast.

My Octy on the other hand...

I base mine on a hire car that lasted 40 mins on the M6 @80.

Only car to ever fail on me through it's own will power.

That said, like Adrian, I brought based on value and drive, not badge or anything else. The same forumla will be used again, which if it were today, might well have me inside the Vauxhaul garage, but not for this model ;) Add 4 more bangy making things and some aussie name ;)

Or an Rx8, or a 350Z and towing bracket.

I quite like it, but it is to small to replace the Octy. If anything, I need something bigger :D

I bought a Tigra after they were launched in 1995.Thought it was a sports car

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Gave it back to the garage after 5 months.

Incredibly, lost no money, did 5000 miles in it and the garage put it up for sale for more than I bought it

Things changed slightly when people cottoned on

I won't be buying vauxhall or ford again purely on the basis of dealers. There might be millions of dealers in the uk but there are millions of customers wanting to be served too.

Somehow I felt lost in a huge system.Think I will stick with the czech kids.Value ,service and by all accounts residual values better than both those mentioned.Didn't think I'd be saying that :D
