I don't know about other Northern members, but for me the other meets are simply too far to travel.

I'm 4 hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh, therefore for 1 meet that would be a minimum 8 hours driving. Or to put it another way.

Leave home at say 7am, arrive at meet about 11am andd say

"hello guys, nice cars you have here, sorry mine is covered in road grime and dead flies I've been travelling for 4 hours which reminds me, best jump back in and head home, bye guys enjoy the rest of the meet"

arrive back home at about 3-4pm.

I simply can't justify the guts of a tank of diesel and a half a weekend to meet a few like minded individuals for not much more than an hour. It just doesn't add up.

So yeah perhaps us teuchters should get a separate meet setup sometime.

Long drive to meet up in a car park half an hour before it gets dark, surely there's enough northern members interested in meeting closer to home?

Darwin, if you are 4 hours away from Glasgow, I'm lookin at 5hrs travelling time minimum as I live south of Glasgow........

I thought you were in Aberdeen ?

4hrs from Aberdeen to Edinburgh/South Queensferry is a tad extreme ! :p

Where in Kilmarnock do you meet and what time .

Homebase Brian, time will be confirmed soon lol

so a mini meet in inverness retail park :p

Sadly this year i am not hanging about in retail park carparks etc.

I have been on several runs with alot of car clubs more so BMW ones and they usually organise a drive with a stop off at an eating point grab lunch then onto somewhere else to get some photo's etc.

Can I maybe suggest people start sending Dovit route maps etc for possible destinations routes, days out etc as everyone seams to agree that the retail car parks thing is not what they are looking for.

As I already said, all suggestions are welcome. I'd prefer going somewhere rather than "hanging about"

You're right, from Aberdeen centre that is a tad extreme. However Aberdeen is my closest city, I'm actually almost an hour north west of Aberdeen. So including getting through the toon, that's where I get my 4 hours from.

Did someone mention Inverness retail park or Aviemore?????.........my backgarden!!!!.... :giggle:

yeah inverness retail park, i live on isle of lewis but family are in drumnadrochit so i am over rather a lot....

Me neither,

In fact i doubt i am going to be attending any meets this year now, so my views don't count :)

I think the only reason for the retail parks is that they are easy to find and parking is no problem! Mind you if you then want to go a drive down to cairngorm via the back roads!!! B)

i agree, they are a good spot for everyone to meet before going somewhere better usually out of town and good links to main roads, especially inverness

Poor show! It's only January! :p

The kind of days out I prefer these days are to meet up somewhere, have a scenic drive, lunch somewhere decent (maybe a photo stop or two) and make your own way home. Hence why I suggested Tyndrum or simillar. I'm not one for standing around in car parks either.

I hope you've changed your mind on that comment :-P
