Yeti Owners / Drivers

Featured Replies

Merely an observation, nothing more, nothing less.

During my lengthy daily commute I've noticed a steady increase in the number of Yeti's I see on the road.

Tonight for example I saw four, but normally it is at least one or two.

As a Skoda enthusiast (or perhaps just nosey) I always take a quick peek at the driver and I am surprised at the number of female drivers.

Now this is just my observation which of course is completely random and I am covering the same roads each day (not the same Yeti's though).

I guess because most (if not all?) of the Yeti owners on Briskoda are male I just assumed that the majority of owners/drivers would be male too.

But then of course the Yeti is a family car at the end of the day and we all know how mothers like their 4x4’s and increased ride height!

Is this the right place to admit I bought one for the wife first? :giggle:

I bought a yeti because I like it, SWMBO gets to drive it more :@

Kitten fell in love with the Yeti first, I was looking at the Superb.

After a couple of weeks I came round and jolly glad I did.

Although both of us can drive Ivor, I do the lions share of the driving as Kitten doesn't like driving much. emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

I got Harry for myself but SWMBO is doing all tbhe driving at the moment as DVLA say I am not allowed to drive for 6 months.

D'ya know what?

I can't wait till my time is up in May :S

I bought the Yeti for us both, but I do most of the driving.

Sheila says "Well it's a car isn't it" although she does say she prefers it to the Freelander.

Just a thought, but does that last sentence actually apply to sales of the Yeti? I suspect that more 4x2 vehicles have actually been sold than 4x4 ones.

Don't suopse one of those spots was a London registered white (ish) Monster heading east on the 64 southern bypass and then turning off for the 1079 around 17:15 ;)

Me heading home from work :D

Oh wife's yet to drive a Yeti and yes on my second with a combined ownership of 23 months and 23,000 miles.

Now fordfan has hidden it away, the engine and trim survey is not that often frequented but at nearly 500 replies the 4x4 is more popular.

In a couple of weeks I will be yet another female Yeti owner/driver!:rofl::rofl:

But Tim that is only responses on this forum, which as we all know, isn't truly representable.

I wonder what the actual picture is nationally?

When I first looked at the Yeti in 2010 the sales manager in the combined Skoda/Hyundai dealership tried to convince me that the Yeti was more of a "woman's car" and I would be much better of with the Hyundai ix35. That may have had as much to do with dealer insentives on Hyundai v Skoda or it may have been his genuine opinion. Anyway I didn't like all the bling on the Hyundai and thought his statement was rubbish.

I should have been a little clearer, I was referring more to the '4x4' appearance of the Yeti rather than the actual number of driven wheels.

The 4x2 Yeti still enjoys the benefits of the 4x4 (increased ride height, chunky wheels & tyres, rugged off-road looks etc.) but without the higher purchase price and running costs (and of course the extra on and off-road ability), which I was suggesting may make the Yeti an ideal and therefore more attractive choice for the school run - which is generally a role performed by the lady of the house?

Of all the Yeti I have seen being driven, which is not many, I would say that men were driving more of them.

Of all the cash cows I see being driven almost all are driven by women......

I think the answer may depend on from where you view these things. If you live near a school with affluent parents you may get the impression that Range Rovers are mostly driven by women. In St Albans you would probably conclude Octavias are predominantly driven by Taxi drivers.I have only seen Yetis driven by mature men and that fits my preconceptions.

Well although I chose the Yeti SWMBO probably drives it a little more than me. I am usually relegated to the Berlingo van!

I feel the itching urge to join your club andyspan as I drive Berlingo at work and co-drive SM at home

That's the thing, my commute is 75 miles of A roads stretching from York to Durham so I pass through many different areas.

As I said it is just an observation, nothing scientific.

Unfortunately not :giggle:

I frequent the A19 north of York, although I am a regular user of the A64 and A1079 so I'll keep an eye open.

On the evening of posting I followed a bright red 61 plate Yeti (rather rapidly :smirk: ) cross county until it arrived home in the village of Stillington, anyone on here!?

Well, I know at least one female yeti owner being all the time on Briskoda (and some other forums). But, when posting, people think she's a male.

Probably the beard that does it :giggle:

Only joking.

Ha, ha, I agree with your joke.

Where are"good old days" when ladies had only hairy legs, but no beards and cars?
