I have a 54 plate fabia vrs and its looseing about 2-3 litres of water in the space of about 5 miles if that has any body ever had a problem like this if so can u give me an idication of what it could be im thinking its a leak and not the head gasket as it wudnt loose it all that fast

have you checked the radiator hoses, coolant tank hoses etc you got to be careful and take it to a garage asap or you will mess up the headgasket get it checked out by a mechanic ASAP

could be a split hose or faulty rad maybe?

I guess your car is a Diesel VRS as if it were a Petrol VRS you would have it at the dealers being sorted under warranty.

Yes mate its the diesel

You could not vaporise 3 litres in 5 miles.

So you say you've been under the car with the engine running and no drips anywhere? And you've taken the engine tray off? I still suspect the water pump or a major leak somewhere.

Yes ive let it warm up n presurise n ther is no leaks from anywer that i can physicaly see myself no drips on drive way from overnite parking and its still useing all the water in the header bottle going to investigate further 2 morro as im

Of work and can use the ramp lol

It's not my old fabia is it ma06 bko?

Nah its a 54 plate

If your losing 3 litres every 5 miles, then the leak should be noticeable while stationary, even with the sump tray in place. Try running the engine and having a good look around underneath with a torch and through the engine bay and down onto the tray etc, if you don't have any joy then you can obviously remove the sump tray to get a better look...

Could be leaking from any pipes in the system (follow them around from the expansion tank), water pump or from the radiator, or of course it could be a head gasket failure, especially if you aren't getting a visible leak...

Garage investigation, pressure test water system to pin-point fault, and save yourself some hassle.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The radiator fan switch on the left hand side of radiator, half way down could be the problem. They often leak on Fabias & Polos. If this is the cause suggest new switch, sealing ring and PTFE tape should fix it. A deep socket is the best way to remove due to space limitations for ring/open ended spanners.

Cost about £16 for switch - check for sealing ring inside packet before leaving the store.

Please do not post multiple threads on the same subject all over the forum, simply update one of them. it helps in the future if someone else has the same problem.

I have merged several threads into this single one, so the replies may seem a little strange, so lets please keep it like this.
