Makes you worry, doesn't it. Ordered my 170 in October and originally quoted Mid March, but have heard nothing as of yet, fingers crossed, seems Autofinders are doing a lot of business on yeti's, but can they deliver??

Autofinders are currently chasing my build date, but it is now looking like I may not get one until July 2012 (some 13 months). To be fair to them, I think they've been let down badly by their dealer. They have about 50 orders outstanding as far back as Feb 2011(!) apparently.

Clearly far more orders than they had build slots for, not good for customer service. Bound to lead to long waits and frustrated customers. :(

sounds like they are only using a limited number of dealers.

I know that my lease company, put out an equiry to all their approved VAG dealer network in the uk to see who could supply my Yeti before the required date.

Well I have had an update on an anticipated build date. I placed my order on 23 May 2011 and have now been given an estimated (not confirmed or anything) build date of......

Week 39 - 24/09/2012

This would mean a lead time of 16 months - got to seriously think about binning this off now.

:wall: :wall: :@ :@

I'm afraid they must have taken orders they did not have any good reason to believe they could fulfil. Bad business practice and, if they have taken deposit money, unethical.

You should look elsewhere.

Difficult to know what to do now. If I order with a dealer or even Drive The Deal, I'm faced with another 9 month wait. If I get a nearly new (not to the spec I want) then there are compromises. Going to have to sleep on this for a while and try and decide what to do.

Fed up :(

I agree with JCP - but before you cancel, can I suggest you contact a few Skoda dealers and get their current delivery estimate?

I doubt your current supplier wil be too fussed if you do cancel - they'll easily be able to sell 'your' car on - probably at a higher price (profit)?

I feel your frustration

Chesterfield broker? They are referencing stock Yetis at not-much-discount... http://carbrokeruk.c...D=54&modelID=13

I think these are cars that people have got sick of waiting for and cancelled. To be fair to them, the price they quoted was pretty good - and although I've yet to see "tin" from them personally, I think a number of people on here have had good deals.

I thought I'd just give anyone who is interested an update on my order.

Since placing the order with Autofinders (via Autoebid) back in May of last year for my Yeti, I was still awaiting any concrete information. I contacted Skodastore (who put me in touch with Rainworth) who were kind enough to give me a pretty good build slot (they do have allocation) and I've been assured that the car will be built at the end of August 2012.

I've since tried many times to contact Autofinders (telco, email) to cancel my original order and it now appears that the company has "gone". I'll be attempting to claim the £500 deposit from the credit card company but I just thought I'd provide an update in case anyone else is awaiting a car from Autofinders.

More information on the current Autofinders si****ion can be found here:

I'll post again when the thing finally arrives! (and I didn't realise t.u.a.t was a naughty word!)

"You pays your money and takes your choice" - I would always stick with a main dealer for a new order, even though you may pay a bit extra. Above story confirms this.

Nope it does not I'm afraid... It is just a story of one unfortunate company going to the wall. Plenty of other similar brokers have been dealing for decades. Drivethedeal (which I used) being one. I'd recommend them again in a heartbeat. But I did my research and knew that they only get paid a finders fee and after that you deal directly with a main dealer's corporate arm (which is why you can get the corporate discount). So you are never left in the dark. You don't get the cushy front of house service normal retail customers get, but I'd gladly have that level of service for the over £3,000 I saved... I'm the first owner, got my V5C within weeks after delivery and could use normal Škoda finance if I so choose. I could trade in my previous car or do anything a normal retail customer can do. Was the perfect deal in my book.

To be fair, you are comparing a discounted internet rate with full list price by quoting a saving of £3000.

Most people with any savvy do ask for a discount and try other dealers if their local one is not playing ball.

I paid about £250-£300 more that via the internet. But have helped a local business and now have a very good working relationship with them.

Which I believe is worth something as they'll be there for me when I need them.

For example, when the clutch went on my Fabia they had it fixed the same day so I could drive the car home! :)

Admittedly I've gone on to buy four cars there in two years, but they didn't know that when I bought the first Yeti.

I 100% agree with you there Richard. I'd pay £250 to £300 more for that. But at the time I was buying every dealer I went to laughed at me when discussing discounts. So in my case it was a saving of over £3,000 vs the full list price as no dealer I approached wanted to budge on the full list price of over £28,000. Alas I did not visit your dealer! I will in the future rest assured as I believe in supporting the little guy too.

Dealers do seem to have a very odd view of the Yeti.

Possibly due to it's publicity and customer satisfaction.

Never ceases to amaze me that some will offer a good discount and others won't drop a penny.

I guess the latter sell less, but earn far more out of each car. But one thing is for certain, they won't be selling to me. ;)

My local dealer got to within £300 of the DTD price - I thought that was a fair price to pay for 'goodwill' - and in all honesty I reckon I'm way in profit given the obscure electrical issues we've had to sort out!

As did mine!

I notice that Drive The Deal (DTD) http://www.drivethedeal.com/ is not listing the Yeti at present under the Skoda listing - but all other Skodas models are.

OOps - Just noticed the "Local" bit in the first quote.

Both of my closest local dealers would not budge an inch on the price, even down to "chucking in mats and flaps" - so I went North to Stockport.

Which has the benefit of a good drive home once it arrives!!

Madness, FYI I ordered a yeti 4x4 DSG with lots of spec incl pan roof etc in December and it arrived at the dealers yesterday, I'm going over today to say hello.

I ordered from a main dealer and he also got close to the dtd quote.

Very happy with service since.

I tried to support my local dealer. Having bought my last car from them 5 years ago and serviced it there ever since, I thought they might do something for a loyal customer. However, their tone was dismissive when I tried to discuss deals, they wouldn't budge on price and weren't interested in trying to offer servicing / accessories instead. This was after a particularly bad episode where they called to book my next service and were initially evasive on price then quoted around £20 more than the "National pricing" on the website, said I need a break service (which I don't) and tried to sell me a valet as they "no longer wash / vacuum the car at the end of the service".

In the end, I used the internet and have hopefully managed to save around £700 on the price of an Urban compared to my dealer. I say hopefully because they do seem to be taking a while to confirm transport of the car from it's current location at the Grimsby docks. It's not from my main dealer but it is from somebody's ;)
