Looking at the picture on here could the longer induction pip be fitted with the ITG Maxogen filter inorder to reach the front intake scoop in the grille instaed of have it hiding behind the N/S/F headlamp?

I think I'll leave mine where it is. Works fine.

seen one fitted to an octavia.......it was HUGEEEEEE

ment to be really good apprently but thats just what iv herd from others and not from personal experiance

Oh dear..I'm slightly mortified at all these mods I'm missing out on for the sake of a grand or so..mine is a company car and I'm too much of a wimp to risk getting caught out :( A very smug looking "twit"..I can think of a similar word.. sailed past me on the M60 the other day in his BMW 123D There wasn't too much difference but annoying anyway.

The HG intake is the same, the only difference is that it fits into Left hand steering cars. the forge one doesnt

The BMC filters look remarkably similar to the Forge filters

FWIW the Forge Twintake was rated at 400hp max because it had 2 carbon enclosed filters. So, on that logic a single canister is rated at 200hp which of course is below a stage 1 output. SO yes, Forge are correct, it shows gains on a stock car, but on a modified car it actually becomes a restriction. OS if the BMC performs the same, i would stay clear personally.

I linked a thread yesterday with j1automotive, who are after a development car. They produce custom intakes and enclosures. They could potentially do a nice large open filter but with an enclosure to restrict the hot engne bay air getting in there. That would be a good option IMO. Something like this

yup i dynod my car with stage 2 software/downpipe/intercooler blabla , the forge Carbon box is more restrictive then the moded OEM box with a Revo filter.

lost 6hp 12nm with the HG intake (only at high revs)

Forge dont believe me though, im wrong and so are the tuners. I asked him if they had tested it on stage 2 cars he said no......

Yes the single canister intakes working fine on a stock car but as soon as air feed goes up with uping the boost preasure the engine starts to suffer from to much restriction .

This is what got me thinking, in the thinnest part of the oval it is ~ 114mm and the fattest part 167mm . I had a poke around in the engine bay last night and if turned the thinnest way should fit between the battery and the engine. Then having a direct feed from the oem air box cold air feeder.

My only concern is buying it after I go stage 1 mapped and find out it hinders rather than helps. As mentioned above you say the forge caused loss rather than gain.

You will only know through trial and error bud, if you are worried why not just go for ITG?

Thats a fair point. I was lucky as i got my Forge intake cheap and sold it for the same as what i paid. Id have been really "£$$ed if i had paid the full price. At least with the Maxogen filters you know they give gains.

Bmc claim a 10bhp gain on a Mitsubishi Evo and a 7.3bhp gain on a subaru impreza. Obviously I don't know how that would translate to our 1.4tfsi, but I am In the process of contacting them to find out what the reccomend for them. The ota box is almost certain to fit like the vw polo air box does, as it is oval and not cylindrical.

Thats the thing, we have no idea how restrictive the stock intakes are on the jap motors and those gains arent especially good.

The BMC filter looks pretty small as well Excuse the pun, but this anbd the forge are a carbon copy of each other, so if the forge realy underperforms and restricts power, then its entirely possible that this will also perform similar. This one is for the Polo GTI

How much are they charging?

id keep in mind that if you after stage 2 or more in the future then you'll need a better intake, as ive already fallen foul of that one. So it would cost you more in the long run.

The only car that has the 1.4 TFSi lump is the A1 bud, we all have the 1.4TSi
