Featured Replies

Back on topic a little, is the ITG 'pre-oiled' from the factory ?

As far as I'm aware it is

Before i got the Itg kit i spoke to a few companies and all of them said a twin intake system is just overkill for this engine.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of inventiveness, but a company as established as ITG surely explored other routes for the intake, then decided on the rear of the headlamp. It is of course in thier interests to have the filter perform at its very best.

Yes thats true.

I'm sure the ITG is more than enough for the vRS, but they are no doubt held to budget constraints so probably didnt see it nessessary to develop a twin intake for this car.

I mean, would you want to pay £500+ for a twin ITG intake which it would probably cost....

Plus a twin intake would have a stupidly loud induction roar :D haha!

As said previously I think space is the problem with a twin intake on the Fabia. It maybe possible to do it but the filters would be quite small

Now I have some spare money lying about after payday :-) I'm going to start considering the itg. Been thinking to actually bite the bullet on a smaller car battery just for pure neatness :-/ .Will be doing a rough dimensioned sketch of the engine bay at the weekend. Will post it up if anyone's interested in experimenting with breathing options?

I would be very intrested in that

Ok well depending on my time tomorrow I might be able to get it done nothing too detailed but just so people can explore their options :-)

If your getting a smaller Battery, then dont get the Fabia vRS ITG Maxogen, get the Polo GTI version which has a right angle silicone hose and goes straight into the slam panel. Much neater solution

Thats what i was thinking Sy, going to have a look around see what i can dig out price wise. Can you see a smaller braille battery allowing sufficient space in there then? for me it is a potential option as i have a stupidly annoying attention for detail (possible ocd) when i get round to posting some of my 2 day detailing weekends you will soon see  Mike

Braille batteries are mega small, you'll definitely have room

excellent im going to do a mock up of my intentions then post it on here in the following days :p plus the dimensioned stechy sketch!

Isn't that a battery for the blind ? emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

I have a Tomioka lightweight race battery. It is much smaller than stock and like Sy says I too reckon the Polo GTI ITG intake would fit with a race battery up front.

My Polo ITG made 15bhp and over 30lbft extra over the OEM intake at stage 2.

A twin take would be overkill for the 1.4 and even in the 2.0 tfsi engines the Forge Twintake doesn't quite give as much power gain as the ITG maxogen does.

Greate idea but were to getthe correct fittings ect to fit it into the fabia?

Relying on a tiny battery for day to day use, especially cranking in the winter, aint my cup of tea. ;-)

I've had no problems with mine at all. Admittedly it isn't the smallest battery you can get, but it runs everything smoothly and saves 8kg as a bonus. B)

I still havent fitted mine yet. I was keen to wait until after the cold spell

I work shifts and the car is often left out overnight in the company carpark, which is out of town and has seen temperatures recently as low as minus 7. No problems at all starting the car up. B)

So stop being tardy and put it on!

Mine gets left for days without being used. Might even wait until i get back from the middle east at the end of the year. Its prob not getting tracked between now and then anyway

Same mine lives in garage all day then used mainly at weekends sometime not atall. I reckon it would be alright I got a few lined up at the moment. Sy what battery you got?

Mines 11 months old. Has 8000 miles, and in all honesty thats about 3000more miles than it would normally get as ive moved house up country and had to travel to and fro a few times, traveled to and fro Shark performance, jabbsport etc for remapping etc.

Now its all sorted, ill not expect to have any more than 5-7k a year tbh

I'll let you off then Sy :p

Would the battery off the polo GTI not fit the fabia? then you can fit the ITG induction kit from the polo also?

I see that the quality of the CAI systems that manufacturers provide is still carp!!

I looked into this when I built my own system (ok only for a MKI Fabia)...

..but most of these systems either leave the filter exposed (bad as it then takes in hot engine bay air, and it gets splash water/carp on it and needs cleaning more!)

...Or the filters and the pipework are badly supported!!

I made my CAI (cold air intake) system using "off the shelf" parts from Green Cotton's catalogue.....so thats a "Twister" enclosed filter.....pipes, bends......then I made some custom brackets and also got some stuff from my local branch of "Pirtec" (hydralic hose, etc parts, manufacture etc)......and made this....no sharp 90deg bends...all fairly smooth.

The air intake is behind the large slam panel air hole.....so nice and high up out of the way of water so flooded roads are ok!!!
