ITG Maxogen Induction kit - Fitted

Featured Replies

I've just blown £180 ordering all the kit needed to relocate my battery to the rear (polo 6R GTI parts).

Even with my Braille battery it was still too cramped! at the front, but the ITG filter (Battery in the rear kit) looked proper tidy.

Oh!!! and I'm loving the APR remap.

£187 exc vat. I think your right sy it's just I can't bring myself to agree with where that feeder pipe goes behind that headlight

Where is that mate? Awesome and Revo are more than that excl VAT?

I know it seems odd but the cold air feed does work

Ahhhh ok mate apologies!

I'd say go ITG also, just a little more for proven gains

Are you fitting it all your self? I might do this as well, will have to take a look at yours when you get back up here. Have you got your map on the 98Ron setting now then? We'll have to go out for a comparison in when were back at work. YOU need to get yours to a dyno

There isn't really much to it, the main part which I've got already is just bolted in the existing hole. The only complication is how I'm going to run the positive cable to the front, I'll need to have a look at a polo or a ibiza to see how it's done.

I've still got it on the 95 ron map as I've not emptied the tank yet, but it just seems so much more rapid now. When I floor it I get that pushed back in the seat feeling :rofl::devil:

There is a MAHA LPS3000 rolling road 30 mins away from me, might see if I can get it booked in.

YOu should see if you can get some discount on 2 seperate dyno runs so you can get a before/after set of figures for the stage 1 with and without an intake. I predict 202Hp and 212hp

with my pipercross v standard i got a 5bhp increase. not much but the sound makes up for it muaha!

whats the gains on the ITG?

Well VRS powered has the TMC Box and so do I, but he has the ITG and he got 211 bhp with it on setting 7 If memory serves me well, so 6 extra horses more than my induction kit with the TMC box on the same setting.

So your looking at roughly 10 or so bhp extra with the ITG than the standard intake with the TMC box.

How do you find those tuning boxes as a option compared to remapping? Are they quite good/safe? Also I suppose warranty issues you just unplug then right? I'm starting to look at them now but not sure advantages over remapping?

they seem great for a stage 1 setup and make pretty good figures but they wont be able to take into account for modifications such as a Turbo back exhaust as it doesn't access the each to change parameters only modify signals from sensors to  fool the ECU so to speak, what thus means is likelihood opoor afr and engine management lights will come on after a while as sensors detect an inefficient flow over the cat. . The afr on vrspowered iirc wasn't the smoothest either. But if your only after stage1 with an intake then its perfect and good value

I looked at that eBay picture and then went and had a look at my car. You can see quite a big void where the pipe is pointed on the maxogen so there is no doubt it has a good gal to take air from. I wonder about directing the flow of air thats coming through the original air scoop and pointing it towards the void where the itg feeds to, this way at least your sending the flowing air towards the itg.

There will be little to no air flow comeing through the original scoop, if you have a good look at it youl see that air wont flow throigh it unless its sucked up

Although if you managed to pipe it onto the itg then the itg would suck air through it

That would be the best option as you would have a "ram" effect as the car moves, it forces air through the filter rather than the car engine having to suck the air in its self.

With the battery being located where it is currently you'd need a bit of custom work to get a pipe to bend around, or fit a smaller battery like what vrsy has done.

I agree. That's why ITG probably opted for the air from behind the headlamp. I've looked around there when I fitted the splitter from underneath and although there is a pan and it's mostly enclosed, there's still plenty of air getting in there.

I think that there would be an option for a pikey route from down there from the floor pan for an extension to the tube ;)

Hmmmmm gives me an idea, might try removing the bottom plastic cover and see if that helps for 1/4 mile

Quick question regarding this....on the original air box on the 1.4 16v elegance, on the top left side of the box looking down is a pipe that leads into the side...where did you connect this to?

I purchased the ITG Maxogen Kit - I have to say it makes the car sound like a beast & thru mid range its seems quicker

Got any pics of the install? :-)

Popped them in my build thread ;)

Easy Install took about 20 minutes trying not to brake anything lol

Just be aware if there are ever any hot days next summer just how hot that area is behind the battery.

Not really that much of an issue as you have the intake when moving but when you stop and the heat builds and is there on start up leading to rough tick over sometimes.

More so than can happen with the standard black airbox.

Sounds like good advice.

I've seen a few of these kits fitted with the air feed being taken from beside the battery instead of the forced cold air feed at the front of the vehicle.

Doesn't that make these quite a poor choise of kit over something like the VWR kit that does go to the front.
