Mods - what order?

Featured Replies

The only mod I have at the moment on my 2010 FL tsi is a Shark stage 1 remap. I was all set to get a new exhaust and air intake and go to stage 2 but I'm having second thoughts. Are the gains over stage 1 really worth the cost (£1200ish) and will I be forking out for a new clutch before long?

I'm now starting to think that I should just fit the air intake that I have already bought in preparation for stage 2 and think about handling instead - Wietec springs and shocks would be around £600.

Choices, choices! What do members think: stage 2 or handling improvements?

If it doesnt stop half as well as it goes you need to buy a Mk1 Fabia VRS :giggle:

I would have thought for anything above stage 1 brakes would be an important one to look at early on I could be wrong though stage 1 has always been enough for me in my chestnut burner!

If you go stage 2 you will need a clutch. Mine started slipping immediately in 5th and 6th. It's a big improvement over stage 1, but I would recommend sorting the handling first.

Are you only talking uprated clutch on a stage 2 Tsi as this is more like stage 2+ in the Tfsi? I hope so as mine gets stage on 23rd!

Sort the handling out.

yep handling first.

front and rear anti roll bars, anti lift kit, coilovers or springs and dampers,...and thats just the start of it lol

Yeah, I think you'll be ok until you go 2+

Honestly Stage 1 plus full intake is very nice, and stage 2 is only marginally better, if you are on a budget, Suspension, brakes and a stage 1 map and intake will see you with a completely transformed car, remember you can always go stage 2 later. I wouldnt even consider stage 2 on stock suspension!

I'd say Brakes next, please remember

Speed is desirable, Stopping is essential!

After that, I'd say clutch, then possibly suspension.

Suspension - brakes are fine for road use. If you run out of brakes on the road you're driving wrong IMHO

If fade is an issue pads - performance friction road ones or similar
